A fatal flaw is his only path to power.
For two years, Nathan has been a failure. Cursed with an abysmal energy absorption rate, he's the weakest disciple in the Verdant Spire Sect and faces certain expulsion. His dream of returning to Earth to save his ailing mother is about to die. He's a talentless cultivator at the bottom of the food chain, with one day left to change his fate.
Just when all hope is lost, his long-dormant System awakens, granting him a bizarre and unique power:The Passive Paradigm.
His flaw is no longer a curse. It's the key to a new kind of advancement where endurance is strength, and survival itself is a source of explosive growth. By discovering loopholes and turning the rules of cultivation on their head, Nathan forges a new path. But this power comes at a cost, forcing him into a brutal tournament where he is the underdog and a deadly forest that wants him dead.

- xanaveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve got a lot of stories that I follow, but work keeps me too busy, so I can’t catch up to all of them until the weekend. This is has become one of the few that I make sure to read on the same day it comes out.
I really like this story, and am glad I found it. The chapters are longer than some others, so it took me a lot longer to catch up to Chapter 63 than I thought it would.
The idea of the customized system for the MC is great - it only supports with passive abilities (hence the title) compared to the “normal” systems others have (or simulate with implants - not a lot of detail on how it works for others yet). There’s a story/mystery there that seems to slowly become clearer over time, and is added to by mystery/back-story development over the long term…
The writing is a good, nice to read with very few mistakes right from the beginning, and yet the Authors writing-style does grow even better over time.
Character development is good for the MC, but not as great for other characters, mostly because the story doesn’t allow it until the arc staring after chapter 40. After that, the story progression allows for other character development, and I like how that’s going with additional/growing characters that are involved in the story. Most antagonists seem one dimensional initially, but there has been growth to some of them over many chapters as MC becomes more familiar with them, so I think that’s the way the MC sees them, which makes sense to me… - HeOnTerraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0While the setting and tropes the may not be anything ground breaking, I have to say, the author's execution is very impressive. The main character stands out, and his system, abilities, and fighting style are well thought out. This story is a real gem in a genre often plagued with poorly executed attempts.
Moreover, the long chapters are especially satisfying, offering plenty of content to binge and immerse yorself in. All in all, I have no complaints and am thoroughly enjoying this story and look forward to more! - JustClickRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In short, the story is interesting with a fun and twisted system. I can see the potential for some great but weird scenarios. Many systems were explored before, but authors keep bringing in new ones. And this is one of my favorites. I can clearly imagine when playing games and choosing all passive skills for my character. LOL. That would be wild.
The combats are well-crafted and show a lot of love. I can see the author’s investment in this particular aspect.
The PsiLink concept is a great one. I believe this will be explored further. Misguiding people by using media and all.
I love Zeryn. So the negative thing is that he hasn't been in any action. So author, do let him shine.
It's still early days for the other characters, so I'll hold off on judging them for now. Might update this review once we get to know them better.
Grammar-wise, since I'm pretty easy on this I just gave it a 4.5 star.
The author’s style still has room for improvement. But it didn’t hinder my experience at any time, which is a big plus to me.
Overall, it's a great read. Hope others will give it a try. - NotADonkeyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The fight with Qingfeng really hooked me in. Her 'Arrowdance' technique is incredibly creative and well-applied throughout the scene. The character shows her determination through the practice scars on her hands - a subtle but powerful detail that speaks volumes about her dedication. If the author can maintain this quality of writing, I won't need to update or change my review.
While the characters haven't shown their full depth yet (aside from our main protagonist), I can see the groundwork being laid. Take Gideon, for example - there are intriguing hints about his background and motivations. I'm looking forward to seeing how these narrative threads develop and eventually unveil themselves.
Grammar-wise, I have no complaints. The writing is clean and flows well.
The author's style might be distinctive, but since I enjoyed their previous work, I find it adds to rather than detracts from the story. Each chapter maintains consistent quality while building on what came before.
The story shows real potential. The world-building is solid, the power system is interesting, and the character interactions feel natural. Let's hope it maintains this trajectory and doesn't go south.
For now, so far so good. Keep it up, author! I'll be eagerly awaiting the next chapters. - ZenestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It’s a great concept that the story is built on. I can’t wait to see the character explore other parts of the world.
The fights in this story are really good, making me want more. It’s a cliché at the start (read it to know what it is; I won’t spoil it), but with careful tweaks and approaches, it’s enjoyable.
As for other parts, I have nothing to complain about for now. XD
I've been binge-reading, and the long chapters just scratch the itch.
Great story, great time. - hewhoneverwasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a review of this story at chapter 40, immediately after book 1.
Loved the fast start.
Excited to see Nathan continue to get stronger.
I would love to understand Nathan's motivations a bit more to get stronger, but hopefully that becomes clearer as the story progresses. I do also hope Nathan gets more friends: right now he has less than a handful of meaningful ones! - jinwei8888Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good! The story progresses nicely, blending action and humor in a delightful way. I'm fully on board with the system; its execution is different from what I expected, but it's even better! The pacing keeps me engaged, and I hope the author maintains this momentum, making the story even more exciting and enjoyable as it unfolds.
- F_nRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nah I like this.very much so
U should not expect some profound mystery or abyss-deep secrets. tho author already has set up some cool stuff for later.
I don't know what this story is supposed to be but right now? It is a good quality litrpg cultivation that is very light and not serious (unlike most xianxia)
Very easy to read, the grammar is good, the pacing is decently fast
Charachters are enjoyable and dynamica are not cringe
Power system is bland, to be fair, although not a bad thing(god do I not need another 15 names that mean absolutely nothing). Power scale is similar to lotm or more tame xianxia where rank 9 (assuming it's highest) are mostly planet level at best
The world is one thing we dont know much of, tho it seems fairly standard for now - Furball1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I first stumbled upon this book initially via an ad and then read the first volume on Kindle and was blown away by the great world building and actions taken by the MC.
This is one of the few books that rival some of the great classics similar to ISSTH.
Most novels in this genre struggle but I binged the whole series in a few hours and eagerly anticipate the next chapter.
Grammar, sentences are actually in paragraphs and not in a wall of text, good pace and also understanding the character and limitations of the system and how to exploit it.
10/10 - GhostlyVultureRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am a big fan of a solo powerful MC. The author is active and will listen to suggestions and comments. The fights are fun to imagine and the fact the MC doesn’t always obliterate enemies is a welcome prospect. The included system isn’t overwhelming like some, overall an amazing book
