Blurb forAdventurer: A Fantasy LitRPG Adventure:
The world of Arden is vast, filled with ancient magics, opportunity, and brewing political disasters, but above all else it is permeated by an ever-existing and mysterious System that grants power to those who follow its rules.Peregrine Borncrest was fathered by a master druid and mothered by a renowned swordswoman, both of near equal talent. Gifted with the power of recall as his unique, born trait, Pery finds himself grappling with the weight of so many expectations—many of which he has placed on his own shoulders. Called a potential prodigy, but outclassed by his parents and his elder brother alike, he doesn’t feel as special as he thinks he should be—or as special as he fears others see him. When given the chance to leave the small village under his parents’ protection to further his studies with both the blade and spellcraft, Pery doesn’t hesitate to drive onward towards a potential destiny of his own. He will find, however, that the world of Arden favors no one in particular itself and that real life is considerably uglier and rougher than the legends of old may have him believe; and that, unfortunately, even the laws—and the timeless, morally alien spirits—that uphold reality can be forced to bend to the whims of just as archaic, selfish evils if left unprotected.

- C.H. MouserRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story was very well done and the Authors skills are on show with this one. Celis and her battle fury were masterfully done. The whole idea of sword styles being Forms and the familial bonds were touched on very well. The Author knows what they are doing and the story reflects it. I really liked how everything was preparing for this grand adventure.
Style: The Authors style is well developed and felt very professional. Sometime the details could be much and I would like to see some of it described in actions but it never affected the story. I think the Authors skill really shined on this one.
Story: The story was great. The battle lust in the Mother was done very well and the familial bonds and interactions were well thought out and executed. From the details of the magic system and sword arts felt great and captivated the reader and left them with a since of wonder and intrigue. It really felt like a lot of heart and passion was put int it.
Grammar: I do not have the most discerning eye so from what I could see, their were no grammar or punctuation errors. I think that it was a very professional story and had a lot of work and dedication was put into it.
Character: This was a coming of age story so for what I have read, Pery was done well and captured that boyish wonder. The fight scenes with the Mother and the interactions with the surrounding cast showed Pery as he should be. Full of doubt, wonder, and excitement for the future. - PotassiumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This fantasy LitRPG promises to be one worth reading. Slow-paced, but not a glacial pace, allowing for the characters to develop. An interesting main character, with the seeds of great power in him, but not instantly OP. Few to none grammatical mistakes or misspellings, the text flows well when reading. I will certainly follow the chapters as they come in.
- CheiromancerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Adventurer follows the story of Pery, who on reaching the age of 12 needs to choose a direction in life and learn the skills for legal adulthood at age 15. It's a coming of age story, but Pery isn't an orphan or street rat; his parents are retired adventurers, his older brother is an up and coming knight, and, in short, this is more on the cozy end of things rather than grimdark.
I'm not one to nitpick on spelling and grammar, but I did notice some mistakes: 'reign' for 'rein,' periods instead of commas, the occasional sentence fragment. The way information about the System is presented comes close to being info dumpy, but I think it doesn't quite go over the line.
4+ updates per week are planned, but on the whole I'm glad it's only 200 pages right now; I have other things to do today. It's a very engaging story thus far; a very good beginning to Pery's story. - Beaste01Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is good. MC who despite his advantages remains likeable. Good world building and scope for any number of story arcs including joining an academy. Some mystery in the background but no existential threat yet but it with a easy to see one in the future. At the moment it's an enjoyable coming of age story.
- LightfootsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Nice to see a story that's not another lazy isekai or street rat to demigod. Some minor grammar and spelling issues, nothing annoying enough to break my immersion.
MC is strong and gets his skills in a believable fashion. Motivation is solid and character's personality is in line with his age and the world's culture. If the author reads this please don't spend 50 chapters having 'them' sort out their feelings and pining after each other. Otherwise solid work. I'll reserve my half star for when the story comes together a bit more. 👍 - MyritharRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a well written story that many people will like. I personally like parts of it, but don’t jive with the story decisions made by the author. The first book (which is what I'm reviewing) starts off great. We're introduced to a set of characters in the MC, his family, his childhood best friend, and a little bit about the world as we slowly move from childhood home to a new place. The characters slowly reveal more facets of themselves through the story, but also the dialogue helps to highlight the world-building the author has done.
I found myself enjoying the action and the slice of life elements of this story. Until we get to a certain point of the story. Certain people will like this twist, I found it a jarring tonal shift. We go from slice of life to epic fantasy. That’s not a bad change necessarily, but it does make the story lose a lot of the momentum that had been building previously. According to the author this epic fantasy section of the book is important a few books down the line. Personally, I think it would have been better to foreshadow these elements in the first book, maybe have a prologue with those characters. But then introduce this information over the next few books.
Ultimately, what I'm saying is that the the ingredients are good, but the story structure could be improved. - anon_userRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is still the early days of the story so I'll say that I very much like the world and characters we've been introduced to. The logic behind the magic and fighting seems solid and the lore gets nicely explored along the way without being too overbearing in exposition.
The current few chapters are quite different with seemingly some big setup being laid out, I hope it'll pay off since the story's pace is suffering a bit from it.
Very nice and interesting still, I'll keep reading.
