- Dudeman10Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story follows Sebastian a normal man from Earth who was summoned as a Hero by the most powerful kingdom on that world. We see the struggles he has to face as a weak hero who is later discarded.
We see him struggling to survive and later thrives elsewhere. However that kingdom is hellbent on killing him and has brainwashed the other heroes to do their bidding. All that Sebastain has come to care for is destroyed. He will not stop until he gets revenge.
I truly suggest you read the story yourselves. - BarcaiiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hey!
I am a beta reader for Akashic fate, and I wanted to quickly drop in an give a overview for what you might find further into the book. This isn't a thorough and detailed review but more just some general thoughts.
Right now only a few chapters might be out yet but I encourage you to stick around and see where it goes. The series blends cultivation and LitRPG elements without turning into just endless stats or info dumps. As the MC grows, so does the world around him in a natural fashion. The MC feels like a human instead of a sociopathic caricature that sometimes happens. He is neither too smug or a murder hobo.
The blend of more classical fantasy with cultivation offers an interesting twist to a common trope.
The writing style is clean, not too overdone, which fits this style of book quite well. - adamstephillRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Akashic Fate: A Cultivation Journey in a Leveling World delivers a surprisingly engaging take on a familiar premise. At first glance, it seems like a standard isekai setup—ordinary people summoned to become heroes—but the story quickly subverts expectations by discarding its protagonist, Sebastian, almost immediately. This rejection becomes the foundation of the novel’s strongest element: a compelling “from nothing to something” journey.
What makes the story stand out is its blend of two progression systems—traditional leveling and cultivation. Instead of relying heavily on stat screens, the narrative gradually shifts focus toward cultivation, which feels more immersive and grounded. The progression is steady and satisfying, especially for readers who enjoy watching a character struggle, adapt, and grow stronger through effort rather than shortcuts.
Sebastian himself is a decent protagonist. He’s not overly edgy or unrealistically brilliant, which makes his decisions feel human, even when flawed. His situation—being labeled a demon while others are celebrated as heroes—adds a nice tension that drives the plot forward.
That said, the novel isn’t perfect. Some side characters can feel a bit one-dimensional, and certain conflicts come across as overly convenient. However, these flaws don’t completely break immersion, especially given how enjoyable the core progression and worldbuilding are.
Akashic Fate is a solid read for fans of LitRPG and cultivation stories. It may not reinvent the genre, but it confidently combines familiar elements into something consistently entertaining and worth following. - DarkRainRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5While nothing revolutionary its simply a fun read. The main character is realistic and thankfully pays attention. Its to the point and doesnt take long to show the setting and to set the tone of the story. Im looking forward to what will happen in the future and to the minor mystery introduced
- nicholas8293Royal Road★★★★ 3.5the story is almost completely held up by how well the author writes the MC experiencing and learning cultivation, tho it ends up falling short just about every where else, most characters not connected to the MC are written poorly and are very stupid outside of when the plot demands them to hunt the MC to ruin everything he worked hard to build for no real reason but sheer spite, if you choose to read this, do not ever get attached to anything because it will probably be destroyed in the next 5-10 chapters because the author either cannot or does not write long-term characters.
- GekyumeRoyal Road★★★ 3.0If you've seen rise of the shield hero this is basically that with cultivation and with less intelligent characters, including the mc.
It's to the point where after a couple chapters you completely disconnect from it because of the absurdity. It's made even worse when the summoned people aren't even high schoolers like in shield hero, where their dumbness made some sense, no they're middle aged employed adults. - kingmoeRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The story overall is good and also has a substantial worldbuilding, and while the leveling system is simple, it is also easy to understand. Kill stuff, level up. However, the cultivating part also kept a simple approach and it makes the power gain feeling easy to get. The MC being isekai'd with his "modern knowledge" doesnt help IMO.
All of these things I could live with it as long as the story is good. Which it is.
What I can't quite live with is the fact the pretty much every character is also simple. A bit one dimensional. Pretty much every one exists to sabotage the MC. They act in ways that doesn't always make sense and there is only one path, one solution, one explanation to whatever is going on, and that one thing will throw a wrench in MC'S gears. Every. Single. Time.
slight spoiler
The only believable people I encounter where the farmers that went to report to the cops, because he killed a monster that usually takes multiple teams of people to kill. It showed up at their farm, when it was supposed to be regular rodents and didnt show up for his regular morning report... because who wouldn't be scared and go ask for more help?!? MC didn't have to do them dirty like that.
But then the cops are like: you can't be this low level and kill that beast yourself, you MUST be a lier and now you need to report to the military. Like... did they even do their due diligence et check the dead beast ? Ask questions of how he killed it ? What happened for it to come in the first place ? Maybe it was a young and weaker beast ? Maybe it was already half dead when MC fought it.. who knows, so many possibilities. How could such bad cops be cops in the first place, standards must be low... anyway I digress.
end of spoiler
Then you'd think that surely at least his co-isekai'd mates would have more dimensions in their personality? Nope. Maybe I gave the farmers too much sympathy..
Anyway 3 stars because the story is at least good but whenever someone speaks or take action, I'm tak
