This fic checks all my boxes for the perfect pokemon experience:The pokemon are absolutely adorable and have quirky personalities, we can tell what they are saying because the MC's starter is psychic, the MC trains himself alongside his pokemon, they modify lots of moves in really inventive ways, and the MC has a little bit of game knowledge to give him an edge.Also the MC is more focused on bonding with and growing his team than in rushing through the gym circuit for badges. All pokemon join the MCs team willingly, which is both wholesomeandrealistic (a lot of other fics handle new members by beating up an innocent pokemon and dropping a line like "you're my slave now but I can help you get stronger so you should be grateful.")Style: The tone of the story leans towards lighthearted and fun, yet it still delivers with excellent battles.Characters:Obviously there is the MC and his pokemon, but there are a ton of other extremely unique and loveable characters.Grammar: Sentence structure and all that are excellent. I'm a little sad that the author hasn't checked the edit suggestions on old chapters in a few months, but there's only a single typo or so per chapter so it's honestly still excellent.Overall this is a wonderful fic I 100% recommend to any pokemon fan!

If the rating system was fair and just, I think a 4/5 would be more appropriate given the spelling mistakes and the author's obsession with the word "ornery". However, I did enjoy the read and would recommend it, thus it deserves a 5 rating. Creative use of type energy for new moves is always a plus, and I like the team dynamic overall.

As the title says, this is one of my favourite Pokemon fanfics. Self-inserts in Pokemon are hard to do well, but this one handles it really amazingly. One thing I like is that gym battles are not the primary focus of the MC's journey, it's more slice-of-life and enjoying the experience than focusing on building a team and winning the championship.
And Victoria is the best starter in any Pokemon fanfic, no doubt about it.

Wow. I’ve been following this on and off for a very long time now. I read the initial run of FF.net until the approx. year-long break, and then when it went off break and the new schedule was determined I waited then binged a bunch. Point is, I’ve been following this one since the beginning. So, imagine my shock when I go to check Rising Stars because I haven’t for a while and see this on here out of the blue! I’m glad the author decided to put it on here because he deserves more support after years of writing this fanfic.
It’s been a while since I’ve reread this from the start (since the fanfic came back from the long break, actually), meaning I can’t give a good summary of the start, so instead I will give a SparkNotes summary. Basically, a martial arts master from this world reincarnates in Tate & Liza’s family from the games with his memories intact, and starts with a female Ralts who emulates his Gallade father and wants to be a swordsmaster. From there, the relationship between the MC and his starter develops and changes as both also change with it. The main character and Ralts are both very dynamic and have strong personalities, and the supporting cast is pretty three-dimensional as well. Stories with depth are what I go for, and this has it alongside the usual Pokémon fanfic fare (but that’s a good thing, there’s a reason I like Pokémon fanfic so much). This story is very high-quality. Give it a try, you won’t regret it
