Description
Receiving a Mark from the goddess is all Rayden wants in life. Too bad he’s not from the same world as everybody else. Cloned by a dead god and abandoned on a desolate planet, Rayden falls into the arms of people who would ostracize him for years to come. Rayden is unusual. Not only does he look different from everyone, but he continues to struggle with training. Yearning for strength, Rayden hopes his upcoming Marking Ceremony will prove his worth. But when a sudden attack by a Nagari war band drives Rayden into an ancient facility, he meets someone he’d never thought he would: himself. Now faced with a choice, Rayden must decide: should he follow the dead god’s plan or carve out his own fate? I’m very excited to share this story with all of you, and I hope you enjoy the characters and world just as much as I did creating them (or more; I won't hold that against you).** Readers can Expect: -A character-driven story full of action and adventure. -Multiple fantasy/sci-fi worlds with diverse cultures, magic, and technology. -A new take on the reincarnation genre with clones, magical AI, and a weak to strong protagonist. Updates: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays All chapters will be right around 1,500-2,500 words. **Romance is going to be a part of the story, but it will only act as a subplot and will be a very slow burn.** ***Stats will show up part of the way into the story, but they don't show up for the first several chapters. However, I am determined to make it satisfying when it does happen.***

- Adrian WiseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great read!
It's worth it because the writer doesn't just try to jump you within the story and try to make everything about the Magic System.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
The Author makes you care about the story being told from the lens of the MC.
It's not always about what abilities the characters has but the struggles they go through. The Author knows how to get you to root for the character which is why it may feel slow at first but once you get into the thick of it you in there.
That's why this novel can and will do good. Wouldn't be surprised when the Patron drops the flood gates will open.
Dont forget this novel because it's ready to take over Royal Road if it stays as consistently good as it is . - AdventuresseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read the first 19 chapters at the time of this review, which I believe is plenty to know that Godspawn Ascendant will certainly become a fantastic story as the author continues to publish.
When it comes to the story, Aleese has crafted an excellent plot. With many elements that give us a rich beginning and show us the protagonist Rayden's childhood and origin as well as setting the stage for an exciting adventure in his future. There are no glaring holes in the plot and I look forward to seeing how it shapes up.
Speaking of the main character, Rayden is a rambunctious youth who is set apart from his countrymen of Edrona from birth. He has different skin and eyes than the rest of them which makes him an outcast and he's seen as a danger. However, he is adopted by a legendary hunter, Drayek, who raises him as his own and trains him.
My only gripe with the grammar was some strange capitalisation choices by the author, but this is up to their discretion and perhaps just a case of personal writing style. The flow is smooth and there aren't any major spelling or grammar errors in the story otherwise.
This brings us onto the style. Aleese Hughes is a seasoned author, with this being her 12th written work. With that much dedication she was sure to succeed and it is clear that she has refined a smooth style of prose that reads well and lends itself to the progression fantasy genre.
Overall I enjoyed the first part of this story and look forward to seeing how it continues on as the first book concludes. Would recommend reading for fans of western cultivation, classic progression fantasy, and weak-to-strong stories. - DragonMaster66Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like this story quite a bit. You have done a good job with the characters and getting the emotions for the characters to be relatable and making the story gripping.
I especially liked the detailed description of what Nic saw in Rayden's eyes. It made it more relatable. The world-building is excellent when it comes to Rayden's home world, but I think that you should definitely jump right into the world building with the new planet. Leaving the planet with the scant information about what it looks like and what lives on it for this many chapters has kind of led me to feel like the planet doesn't actually exist outside of the cave, and personally I'm very curious about what you'll cook up when it comes to monsters, and possibly tribes living on the surface. I really hope that he meets some people that have been living on the surface, because that's sure to be an interesting encounter. You could also throw some plot twisters into the encounters to make it interesting. (I'm not telling you how to write the book, these are just some brainstorming ideas) Anything you choose to write is sure to be interesting anyways.
As for the four categories, I can't remember any obvious grammar issues, you've created a very well developed character, the plot is very good, and I'm not really picky when it comes to style. (I've also heard various authors complaining about the half star ratings and I wanted you to get at least one full five star rating, even if it doesn't do much.) Thanks for the book. - MaaaattauxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A perfect mix between scifi and progression fantasy in which the stats matter!! The mc is likable, the highly advanced A.I. chip is always a plus. The world is humongous and feels full of mystery and adventures. The endgame powers are frigging powerful (as all pfs should be, but unfortunately many aren't).
I have minor criticisms here and there but I wont even say it because I feel like this story deserves my full praise! - R. C. VettaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Goodness gracious is this book addicting!
I usually read a few chapters at a time. By the time I got to chapter 4 I was hooked.
By the time I got to chapter ten I couldn't put it down until I knew what was happening to our guy, Rayden.
So far it is stat-less, which is an awesome set up for the world building. I already have my theory as to where the "system" is going to come from so there is that layer of mystery baked into the plot simply because of the genre and I love when a story has meta elements to it.
The style is impeccable. The decisions made by the author are bold and translate well as you read. I can tell the author is a very well polished writer and their confidence comes through in the flow of the story. The dialog is so clean and organic it feels like it could be a movie!
Grammar- I can't comment on this. I was so caught up in the story and the what was happening I didn't notice a single error. Is it likely there are some errors? Sure, every story has them, but if they are there they didn't slow me down in the slightest.
Story- An amazing premise! The very beginning gives you just enough background to have an understanding of the underlying plot that is happening in the background unbeknownst to the main character. By chapter ten the plot lines already begin to merge and it is an incredibly rewarding experience.
Character- The characters are fantastic and feel real. The major characters are built up very quickly. Just a few chapters in and you have a strong idea of what the characters' lives must have been like prior to the start of the story, which in my opinion is very difficult to do in a way that doesn't feel forced. Here it provides so much depth it is unreal.
I highly recommend this book. You are missing out on a gem if you don't read this! - Tom WrathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Before anything else, this book ticks the most important box for me - the writing is good. Author employs words really well, they feel like a serious reader themselves, combining description and voice really really well. That's just important to me. I need story, character, concept as much as the next reader, but I struggle to keep reading if the actual writing doesn't hit a certain mark and this story easily achieves that.
The world building feels deep. I sense a Wel thought out and developed society, layers of mystery through the foundation of the world, enough to keep me eager to see what will be unveiled. In some ways it feels like a classic high fantasy, in a good way, hitting the tried and tested milestones. But there's more than enough originality to keep me piqued and interested.
Dialogue is very good, characters and distinct and real and seem self motivated. Action is pacey and exciting. Plot is unfolding beautifully with brilliant sense of unfolding mystery.
A top tier story that should at the minimum be worth a serious exploration by any reader and will probably become a favourite of quite a few 😁 - King GonkRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Has great potential, but too early to tell if the good momentum will be preserved. Has a lot of intriguing plot threads and an interesting power system, though one that is at the moment unexplored beyond the basics due to the MC being on the bottom of the totem pole.
- vennoRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I was initially really impressed with this story. Just started reading it earlier today and couldn’t put it down. Interesting concept, characters, world building.
But then there are some… hiccups?
Like a villain that doesn’t seem to have any motive to do their villainous thing? We can ignore that I guess. But then the way the main characters spell works doesn’t match up to what they’re doing with it.
He can copy a new spell every 10 minutes, then it’s his and he can cast it however much he wants. But then in the final battle he’s waiting on the cooldown before casting the spell, even though he doesn’t need to wait.
Even that I was kinda like ehhh fine. But then book 2 gets into some sort of academy arc thing and none of it makes sense. People aren’t reacting like people, lots of ridiculousness, and it’s just annoying the crap out of me.
I’m gonna keep following and reading for now, but we’ll see how the story develops. - MistressOPRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story takes awhile to get started. There's a setup that's kinda of boring a lead character that doesn't have many redeeming moments. It's like he's waiting for his life to start and whining every second about it. There's no real moment where you like. I respect you for trying. And that's over 10k words of that. Then it turns the corner where he has this moment where your like FINALLY. he's doing something. But by that point your kind of done with reading the book because it's been more than 15k words. well over and your like. just do something.
I read a review here once that sum up what your dealing with. And this might end up still being a good book. But too caught up on the setup and not enough about entertaining. And that entertainment value is what have push me to keep going easier. For example could have just as easily crash us into the story at the point of fighting the monster people. and dump the first 20k word count. just been in a better place and used a couple of flashes in places.
There's writing talent the author has though. There's so much the author has but you have to dig in so far to get at the nuggets and start the story it kind of turns you off once you get there. - brrrcoldRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Interesting world with lots of potential. Give it a read. The following is my specific concern but it’s only a small portion of the story. The author can easily smooth over it.
Biggest issue is the female characters, or rather the male characters attitude is clumsily written. If your first two chapters has the narrator ogling at how sexy a woman is when she’s angry, you need to rethink it. I get MC is an awkward hormonal teenager but it should be written better. Sarina is introduced as the Mary Sue crush, I’m sure the author will give her more depth, but did not have a good first impression. Again, not totally fair since the story is still starting.
