Tactical Superiority

Description
War rages across the entire breadth of the galaxy, consuming entire star systems in its fiery inferno.Legions of Clone troopers, led by Jedi Generals and Commanders, fight against seemingly endless waves of battle droids created by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, led by the mostly mechanical General Grievous, and the former Jedi Master known as Count Dooku.Within the halls of the Galactic Senate on Coruscant, Darth Sidious, better known by his public alter-ego Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, plans for the birth of his new Galactic Empire, out of the ashes of the Republic. The galaxy is diving headfirst into chaos, as brother turns against brother, and core fights against rim, with no clear end in sight. The only constant is that the common sentient will suffer as the war goes on.And here I come in, in the middle of quite literallyeverything, dropped into the body of a prototype tactical droid, and surrounded by incompetent fools in military uniforms, badly programed battle droids, and Sith plans for galactic domination.Hopefully, with the aid of my tactical superiority, I can build up a resistance to the Sith's plans, throw canon under the bus, and keep the major players focused on each other. Because I have no inclination to be sliced in half by some teenage monk with a laser sword.

- YaybreakRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like the feel of this series. It feels very polished, and the grammar is good. The battles are cool to envision, and so far the world seems very alive. The main character is pragmatic and so far does what is needed to accomplish his mission. Look forward to more.

The first thing the main character 'BZ KG' or Blitzkrieg does is reprogram his droids into an actually decent combat force. The restrictions I can reason is there for fear of droids breaking free of their code as well as the corporation making them wants their customer to buy more quantity over quality. It could also be Dooku nerfing them to prolong the war. Now they are terrifyingly efficient.
I can't wait for more!

I feel like this is going to one of my favorites! - Fullmetaljacket33Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Glad to see your posting on here to. I’m all caught up on space battles. So I’ll probably just keep reading there but awesome to see you here. It’s a great series. Always love seeing more fan fics of the cis. No one will ever convince me that they wouldn’t have won if they weren’t self sabotaged.
- worryinglyIntoIsekaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A self-insert into a Clone Wars battle droid is not a new idea for fanfiction. In my opinion, 'I Clanker' does this much better than tactical superiority. This story is a bit broad strokes. It's just simplistic. You have Count Dooku and Palpatine scheming, then the main character does something clever with minimal resistance, then people observe or react to the main character as brilliant, rinse and repeat.
This is a common structure in fanfiction that gives you the ability to enjoy the tropes and characteristics of the main character from another character's perspective. The problem here is that we don't care about the main character because they're not a Taylor Hebert or Tanya the evil. So it just feels a bit weak in that sense.
I think that these flaws are apparent because we don't have well-developed characters. Anakin and Obi-Wan are just parodies of stupid self-righteous Jedi. And all of the supporting characters speak in the same voice. so they're not differentiated, which means that the weaknesses in structure are more apparent.
At the same time, it's still pretty good and I'm enjoying it. So I hope this review doesn't sound like criticism, it is just critique. - Hjimmy29Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Im loving this series so far, while I am more partial to clones than I am the droids, I am definitely enjoying this and enjoying how all of it is playing out, there are a few errors in spelling occasionally but it gets better the longer you read, and the plot is definitely interesting
- blaster4423Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0it is an amazing story and i fully recoment it i dont have the words to say how amazing it is but it is from the first battle to the indroctinization of new technologies and ways to take down his enemies along with its good humor it is one of the best stories i have read so far in any syte
- StaenbridgeRoyal Road★★★ 2.5In a sense, this is a bit of a type case for a whole genre of webfic: if I told you "imagine a Star Wars fan's power fantasy" you'd basically come up with this story, good and bad. To be blunt, and maybe a little mean, the protagonist uses blinding displays of mediocre analysis interspersed with aura farming and hand-wave BBC Sherlock genius to bludgeon an exciting, familiar setting into submitting to the will of the fandom.
Other reviewers have brought up how the protagonist's superpower is common sense, but I think this isn't quite accurate: rather, I think the protagonist's superpower is being the asshole munchkin power scaler we all have seen on fandom forums, and being 100% correct about it all. I'm suspicious about many of his dazzling displays of common sense in the story because they remind me too much of the exact "realism" complaints everyone makes about Star Wars. That is to say, he isn't even offering new common sense, but rather, he's a vessel for implementing the snarky comments that every smug armchair general movie-watcher has come up with. Here's a few:
Star Wars space battles don't use 3D, so you should just appear underneath the enemy ships to defeat them.
Star Destroyer-type space ships have an incredibly exposed command tower on a spindly stalk, which is highly vulnerable to attack.
Bullets travel way faster than... whatever the Star Wars laser guns shoot and wouldn't be deflected by a massless laser sword. Guns beat blasters.
The Jedi/Republic extensively commit war crimes by IRL standards, including massed child soldiery and false surrender. This ought to have consequences.
I'd argue that this aspect of the protagonist is actually the only character trait which he possesses, and that's why I've never actually written out his name: it doesn't matter. He's not a real person. Before the end of the first chapter he's already forgotten every memory of his life in our world, including his own name. He's not a human in the Star Wars universe; he's a - TheSandsOfDeceptionRoyal Road★★ 2.0The basic premise of this is fine, in that you have a character who is (as per the title) Tactically Superior - able to out-think and out-maneuver all and sundry.
The issue that pops up almost immediately, is that you then have to write a cast of rational, intelligent characters, then further write a character that is a level or two above. This doesn't happen. You have a cast of silhouettes that mindlessly act in the perfect way to highlight how special the main character is. There is no struggle for victory or battle of wits, just some banal attempts at wit and enthusiastically written fight scenes.
That isn't the only problem with this story, but I think it's the biggest by some way. This could be enjoyable if you can manage to not over-think it and avoid any analysis of character motivations or internal logic - the style and grammar don't have any objective issues and the story is fine, but the complete lack of character depth is very difficult to get past. 2 stars as I was promised tactical superiority and delivered a bog-standard star wars Mary Sue. - CyphaRoyal Road★★ 2.0I was really looking forward to the story because the synopsis sounds awesome but...
I have to say I did read only until chapter 3 and then I dropped the story. Maybe the story gets better later on. I don't think so because there are some fundamental issues.
I do have one main complaint and that is, that the MCs "superpower" is having basic "common sense" while everybody else is just a complete moron. To me this is one of the most annoying writing styles to exist.
That aside there are some small but glaring logic gaps that could be fixed easily but show that some parts of the story have just not really be though through properly.
Here is just a small example of how superior our MC's common sense is.
It's a short MC's inner dialogue.
"No one ever really thinks to fight space battles in three dimensions, do they?"
Yeah, buddy, sure clone admirals are definitely trained to only think in two dimensions... You are the only genius capable of noticing space has 3 dimensions.
Then he proceeds to crush a Republic fleet with a maneuver that's only possible in a universe where common sense is a super power.
The point is, that our realistic logic / common sense can't be applied in the movie world of star wars without completely breaking the universe. It simply doesn't fit into it and makes all other characters look bad.
The grammar is good. - Galen55Royal Road★ 1.0I really tried, I did. The idea is good but the execution is shameless re-writing of established lore of the universe to slobber on the separatists with the droids and making everyone seem mindless. I can't keep reading when this level of absolute disrespect is thrown around to everything.
Nothing really to say otherwise but the review has a minimum of fifty words to post a review.
