I’ve read a lot of stories on RoyalRoad over the years, and this one is quietly shaping up to be one of the best.
    Story & Worldbuilding
What hooked me first was the twist on time travel. It feels familiar, but it skips most of the usual time travel cliches and does its own thing. The way it mixes Indian mythology with a LitRPG setup is great and it really stands out from the usual stuff on RR.
The plot doesn’t dump explanations on you up front. Instead, it peels things back layer by layer and actually trusts us to keep up. The whole mystery around the name change is genuinely mind bending in that its subtle but feels like a cornerstone of how the story is going to evolve.
I also really like the pre-chapter intros – they give this awesome “massive world in the works” vibe, like we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg. It feels like the kind of story you’ll want to come back and reread later, once you know more, just to catch all the little hints.
    Characters
The characters are great so far. Sid is easily my favorite. The story does a good job of keeping the focus on the main character while still giving us other POVs when it makes sense. I’m also excited to see where the author takes Pallavi and Varun.
    Writing, Grammar & Style
The writing is very immersive. I would assume the author was a native English speaker based on how polished the story sounds if not for whole the Indian mythology thing. Nothing pulls you out of the story, the prose just gets out of the way and lets you sink into the world. You can tell there’s a lot of care put into both the language and the pacing.
I’m loving this novel and really excited to see where it goes from here. If the author can keep this level of quality and consistency, this is going to end up as one of those standout RR stories I would recommend to people for years.
Fiction like this are exactly why I keep coming back to RoyalRoad.

At first, I was unsure who the MC was, even though the blurb indicated it was Sid. But in reading it, I delighted in the atmosphere and the unique characters, making friends and alliances in a new world. All the fights with monsters were believable and intense. I did like that no one was overpowered and had to deal with challenges as a group instead of as individuals. I will say, though, the MC has a very interesting journey... and I can't say anything more about that!
The more I read, the more engaging the characters became and I became invested in almost all of them. The author did an excellent job of interweaving the complex cultural differences of the characters and the choices they had to make. There is some interesting intrigue going on that increases the tension and the danger to the characters.
All of what I have read (so far!) has a definite flow to it that makes it hard to put down and I only stopped reading to type up this review because I believe that more people need to read this!
I did not notice any grammar issues in what I read.
Overall, I would say this is a fun read and well worth the time. Oh, and the author put a lot of time and research into this story, with little touches that make it much more delightful!

This is an amazing story with the potential to be the next big thing. You don't trust me, stick with me for a few minutes and I'll explain it to you.
    Reasons for reading this story
    1. The plot twists: the first ten chapters were predictable, but the chapters after that are anything but that.
For the folks, who want to get a taste of what's in store, see below:
    - MC finds himself back in his younger self but his status shows a different names.
    - MC's primary skill is based on the Spectator Pathway of LOTM. You might think he would be overpowered but he struggles in the first fight after he got the skill, showcasing its limitations.
    - MC finds out the reason for the different name in his status in Chapter 21. This was what prompted me to write this review. I really look forward to how author handles it.
    2. Excellent use of foreshadowing and Chekhov's gun
Some things which I thought were random filler actually turned out to be important, like his father being an athlete and the late night movie screening.
    3. Fight Scenes:
Yes, the initial fight scenes were kind of predictable. But the goblin ambush was amazing, the way Sid strategizes and gets out of a nearly impossible situation was great. I hope to see more such fights in the future.
    4. Grounded in reality:
The first few chapters show how ill-equipped regular people are to surviving in a wilderness environment.
    The Underwhelming Aspects:
    1. Lot of characters introduced in the beginning and less focus on MC before he gets his future memories.
I get that the author is trying to sketch out the side characters and give them more depth, but your objective should always be MC.
    2. Predictable story for the first ten chapters or so.
Author, please understand that we have read enough system apocalypse novels to know what comes after each event.

The writing style in Kaliga Chronicles has a steady, thoughtful flow. It doesn’t rush from battle to battle just for the sake of action; instead, it gives space for atmosphere, decision-making, and emotional response. The world is introduced gradually, allowing the reader to settle in before the stakes rise. The tone feels grounded even when the setting shifts to something dangerous and unfamiliar. It has that sense of real people reacting to unbelievable situations, which gives the story weight.
At its core, this is a time-travel LitRPG survival journey that balances system mechanics with genuine human conflict. The transition from modern life to a strange, unpredictable world is handled with tension and clarity. The LitRPG elements are introduced naturally, not dumped all at once. Progression feels earned, not handed out.
There is also a deeper mystery simmering beneath everything — memory, fate, timelines, and the possibility of changing outcomes. The story hints at something larger and more emotional than just leveling up, which gives it a strong long-term hook.
The grammar is clean and easy to follow. Sentence structure is thoughtful, and descriptions are clear without being overdone. The narration flows smoothly from scene to scene — especially in action and exploration moments. Any small roughness in early chapters improves quickly, showing that the author is attentive to clarity and pacing. It’s very readable and comfortable to stay immersed in.
The characters feel realistically human. They show confusion, fear, determination, and small emotional shifts that make their reactions believable. The protagonist isn’t overpowered or overly confident — he’s learning, adapting, and pushing forward in a world that doesn’t care about his plans. Side characters also feel distinct, not just background filler. Their choices and personalities shape the group dynamic in meaningful ways.
There’s a sense that who they become matters just as much as the stats they gain — and

I really like the way this starts out super normal and annoying in that Monday-meeting kind of way. The contrast to what comes  after is so good. It makes the whole  setup feel nastier and more real, because you actually miss the boring office five minutes after it’s gone.
I really like the characters too. They feel like actual coworkers, not fantasy party members, which make a huge difference, I think, since the story feels like it's going to revolve around them and their relationship/teamwork.
I really like the action as well. The fights are easy to picture and they don’t drag. I usually hate dragging fights for the sake of fights being longer, and more 'scenic.' but this is good.
If anything, the only thing I’d change, if I had control of the story is to have just a tiny pause here and there during the chaos. Sometimes it moves so fast that I want one extra beat of someone’s brain going “oh no oh no” before the next move happens, just to make it hit even harder. And I’m hoping the stats don’t take over later, because the best part so far is the human reactions and the group tension, not the numbers.
Anyway yeah, I’m hooked. This feels fresh for RR, it’s tense, it’s weird in a good way, and I’m absolutely continuing.

The novel changes from a slow paced survival thriller to a time travel mystery within seconds.
Power gained by Sid is also amazing and reminds me of Lord of the Mysteries.
You can see that the author takes particular interest in developing each character to ensure that they are not cookie cutter caricatures. But, real people with real motivations. Hence, the pace of action is slow in the beginning.
One gripe I have with the characters is that a lot of them are introduced in the beginning.
The names are also a bit unfamiliar, but not difficult to pronounce. It's fine since the author seems to be going for originality.
You can see the way of writing improve as you go through the chapters, and there was a drastic change in style after chapter 12. I think the author switched POV from 3rd person omniscient to 3rd person limit.
The notes in the beginning are a nice touch, gives context to the things happening around the world.
There are no major grammar issues and the readability is great.
Ultimately, while the initial slow pace and large cast of unfamiliar names might seem challenging, even the short term payoff is worth it to continue with this story.

This LitRPG had remained in my head even a few days after I read the chapters. I don't know what it is exactly, but it has some elements that really stick in your memory.
The premise is cool: Earth dragged into a war, portals open to a new world and they need to survive and figure out what's going on.
Here's the more technical part of the review:
Style: The writing leaps into action almost right away and delivers a mix of urgent narrative and system mechanics that keep things moving. It's fast pace and engaging. Again, I still vividly remember the scenes :D— 5/5
Story: The stakes are pretty clear from the start. They are thrust into a new world and they need to understand the mechanics and survive — 4/5
Grammar: Smooth, readable, and to the point. The prose is clean and very readable throughout. — 5/5
Character: The protagonist feels familiar, as anyone who’s sat through those kinds of meetings can relate. I would’ve liked a moment that distinctly hooks us on his side (“save the cat” moment) right away. — 4/5
Overall, it's a good read and you won't regret it! This is the score: 4.5/5

I am liking how the plot is shaping up, quite an interesting set of characters coming together in an almost magical/game like world. Initial chapters have good action sequences and skill acquisition by characters . I am hoping we will get to see more creative skills as well soon like xmen, avengers etc.
The first major hook comes in chapter 13 and it seems quite massive ! Awaiting next chapters to understand what happened to Sid. And as a consequence I expect more hooks to come up in the plot now going forward.
The author presenting the story from pov of different characters, is interesting . Additionally, I liked the text blurb at the start of chapters . It provides a totally different context /perspective to what we are reading.
The one part I felt could be better - There are quite a lot of characters in the story and keeping track of their names was a bit tedious . I get the sense that some characters are much more important than others , if that's the case then maybe the number of new characters and the pace of their introduction can be a bit slower in my opinion.
I appreciate that the author is regular (releasing chapter daily) but can you increase the volume and bulk upload chapters in a go.
Overall a really good read so far , would recommend you guys to read. Also read till 13th chapter for sure , as that's when the plot thickens.
