Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing.

The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end.

Cancer.

That ugly, terrible word.

He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted  to nothing under the ravages of his illness.

And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world.

He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of.

All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world.

In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans.

After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose?

Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out.

A beautifully written Xania/Cultivation, filled with an enticing plot and a badass MC. I think my only possible criticisms are that the cast of support characters makes each book feel episodic instead of cohesive. I always look forward to every chapter, and reading them is arguably one of the most entertaining half hours of my week.

MH Johnson is a talented author who tells fun adventure stories where periodically things will escalate WELL over 9000....
His stories are colorful, violent, virtuous and villainous.
His previous works can be found on Amazon, cheaply if you have Prime/KU, if you like the taste of what you read here and want more flavorful goodness that's already complete, his Risen Queen series was first -- and it's a wonderful read.
Then came his Oblivions Blade novels -- dimension warping LitRPG.
As for this particular story, this review is somewhat of a placeholder. I like what I've seen in 2 chapters... but that's only two chapters so far. This story is kicking off in a LitRPG/Wuxia realm, and really, with as colorful, vibrant, and over the top as some of his previous works have gone -- Wuxia seems like a natural progression for his works to dip into.
In any case, I've read all this author's previous works, they are good. This looks to be good as well.

I really like the characters, the author knows how to bring them to life and I like the world building in this story. Hope he continues with building the world up.

This series began as an Isekai, where it seems the MC was just overpowered.   Suddenly, it transformed into a xianxia series where the MC was pathetic and weak.  Throughout the entire series, get used to the MC being scorned and spat on by everyone he encounters.   Pretty much literally there.
Now the MC, Alex, it seems that he caught the interest of a trickster god of the asian type pantheon of this new world he found himself in.   For a thousand years, he played Watson to the Fox God's Inspector Holmes.
Now the other gods are determined to kill this assistant once and for all.
Cultivation.  Martial arts.   Great world building.
Lovely series, ranks up there with "Painting the Mists" and "A thousand Li" and a hair above "Rise of Humanity" and "King of Gods".   Those are all the Wuxia I have read to this point.

I personally love this series, I find the storyline interesting I love the growth of Alex, the world building is great. I love when Alex has a bit of power taken away. It all within the theme of baptism by fire he always come out a tad stronger. So thank you. I may read ahead here but I always purchase the book amazon, so thank you and please keep writing.

Other than occasional grammar errors, I truly think this series is one of the more fun books to read. I've always been a gamer and fantasy book reader, yet somehow never had read any LitRPGs. This is my first series and I couldn't be happier with the choice. I know it's a good series when I find myself reading instead of working due to wanting to know what's next. MC has his flaws as does the story, but I dont read books to get character growth or a carefully written plot. I read to lose myself in a world and this series has that. Keep the chapters coming!

I've bought every book as it comes out. I didn't even know I could read it for free, and I don't care. It was worth every dollar spent. Any book has one thing or another that someone doesn't like or that can be improved, but I don't want changes, here. I just want to keep reading this story. I'm not going to get into pros and cons or any specifics of the novel. I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a wonderful story, and please continue.

I earnestly cannot wait for book 8, and the continuation of Alex's story.
If you like underdogs, this is THE story! Alex is almost constantly on the backfoot, with his enemies scheming for his demise, only for Alex to turn the tables and do the impossible.
I highly recommend reading this series, and give book 1 a little slack. The beginning is a little rough, but makes up for it in later books like 6 & 7. I personally love all of the books and have reread them, which I rarely do.
The weakest aspect for this book though is the grammar, and should definiely be refined for the Kindle release. There have been quite a few moments where the main character of a different book was mixed in with this one, and names were mixed around causing confusion. After a couple rounds of editing though that will be much better.
The actual writing quality though is quite good, great even. I sincerely wish this series was more popular and there were more series like it to fulfill my craving.
One of my favorite aspects of this series is how Alex can always do the unexpected, finding loopholes and secrets in his powers and gifts to grant him strength that he absolutely should never normally have.
The characters tend do be well written, but also rarely deeply explored. One of the side effects of Alex constantly being chased by powerful enemies, forcing him to leave behnd friends and allies to keep them safe.

An epic tale of martial arts and cultivation.  This series is one of the tentpoles of litrpg-esque/adjacent stories for a reason.  Well written and thought out with an ever-expanding universe.  MC suffers but never gives up no matter how the cards lay.  Several major arcs over a large number of books and chapters allows the story to have room.
