Requiem of the Sea

Description
Maya is going to kill gods and rule the seas with an iron fist.
She doesn't know that yet. Outcasted her entire life, she has had to fight for every scrap of food she's eaten. Her only escape is to get enough Essence, a powerful resource that awakens the innate magic within humans, to make something of herself. And just when she managed to defeat an entire dungeon on her own, her tormenters arrive to steal it from her.
Cast into an abyss, Maya meets a man who the world has long thought to be dead. He's willing to train her, and Maya has grand plans of becoming a pirate captain.
Maya is going to gather a crew, grow in strength, and carve her legacy into the world with blood.
Requiem of the Sea is a vast seafaring story. The world is very large, and I enjoy trickling information in about it slowly as opposed to dumping it all at once. The story is updated once every two days. Thanks for reading!

- WingedHeart84Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Beautifully written story of the adventures of the deep blue sea. Worth the time and hope the author might come back to finish. Got the feel of one piece yet much better in writing and story. Rivinting interesting and underdog be more than you think. Don't judge the book by its cover unless you want to be skewered
- fal_in_orRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's hard to describe how fun this story is. It's Inigo Montoya' story of betterment and revenge, Pinocchio looking for their maker and a large immortal serving a life debt.
It's a bit of world building with hints of more of the world over the horizon.
It's fighting monsters that might be at home in a Ray Harryhausen epic.
It is well written and worth a read. - JohnPlumeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As mentioned by other people, this story is a rare seafaring story where the main character is a pirate/sailor sailing from place to place. Besides the all too common One Piece fan fictions, there are sadly not too many webnovels that fall into this genre. Part of that might be the pressure that such a successful franchise like One Piece puts on others in the same genre. Inevitably, people are going to make comparisons.
Requiem of the Sea however, seems to be able to surpass the inherent challenges the seafaring genre represent and create something entirely new. Concepts like essence, dungeons, life spark, pirate lords, gods, and other tidbits are often hinted and refered to, but have yet to be fully explained. Thus, the author expertly gives the impression that there is an extremely vast world this story will explore that is entirely unique and different. It promises to be more than just a One Piece knock-off.
That being said, I can't say that I do not have some concerns. The author purposefully made many things in this story vague. This is a great technique as it hints at a vast, long established world. Readers don't like to be force fed exposition but rather discover and explore. However, while I do like that Actus is not spoonfeeding readers, I worry that the author has made things a bit too vague regarding the main protagonist. I like Maya. She is a strong willed, no nonense female lead that is willing to make personal sacrifices for her friends. She has all the qualities that is expected of a protagonist. However, despite this, I still don't feel like I really know/understand her personally, even though that I have read 22 chapters. The reason for this is that I really don't understand her personal motivations. The exact details of personal circumstances growing up are unclear. All that is really known is that she was somehow trapped by a noble family/local rulers. However, I don't really get why she did not try to leave the island earlier, why she was in tha
