- ArshiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall Score: 5/5
This story strikes a fantastic balance between immersive worldbuilding, emotional depth, and the slow reveal of something much larger at play. From the very first chapter, there’s a sense that the world is far older and deeper than what we’re seeing, which creates an atmosphere of intrigue that never really lets up.
Style: 5/5
The writing has a lyrical, polished flow that’s easy to fall into. There's a good mix of introspection and action, and the tone adapts well between quieter, character-driven moments and the more intense, suspenseful scenes. It’s clear the author has a vision and knows how to guide the reader through it without over-explaining.
Story Score: 5/5
There’s a clear arc beginning to form early on, with layers of mystery unfolding at just the right pace. The tone suggests a world shaped by long-standing conflict, deep loss, and the lingering touch of the divine. The tension builds steadily, and the transitions between story beats are well-handled.
Grammar Score: 5/5
Clean, smooth, and professional. No glaring issues at all — the author clearly puts care into the polish.
Character Score: 5/5
Characters are easy to connect with and feel natural. Their motivations, relationships, and emotional arcs give weight to the world and make it all feel grounded, even when the stakes are high or the setting becomes surreal.
Highly recommended! - BubblyButterflyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am thoroughly impressed, I love the interaction of the little girl, Mira, with the twist! Also looking forward to seeing what Jacob is up to. It's a bit of a slower start but I am appreciative of that in this instance.
Keep up the good work! I am eagerly awaiting more chapters. - Eternal_WinterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have finished Chapter 12 so far and I must say reading Elias story so far was a pleasure to experience. Following him on his quest to become an adventurer. He tries to spare others the suffering he himself has experienced. During his life and train to someday become a strong adventurer. Even when he needs face gruesome enemies that are filled with sadistic malice he still follows his path
- The style of the autor is good, it's easy to read and understand. The author didn't overcomplicate thingd as a way to increase the word count
- The story has clear goals and believable motivations for the main character to take the path he envisioned for himself. A stroy filled with lost and hardship and unexpected turns
- Nothing bad to say about grammar, some minor mistakes everybody would make that don't really affect the fluidity whime reading. (Also, the author fixes them quickly!)
- Be it the MC or supporting characters, all of them act and sound believeable and add something to the story
Overall I really enjoyed it so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of the story. We can also guess what will happen and that makes it exciting. - HastumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Primordial Awakening is a remarkable coming-of-age story set in a dark world. The system elements are well executed and seamlessly blended into the world. Special attention should be given to the fights, as they are spectacular and made even more gripping by the high stakes. Overall, it is a litRPG adventure with darker themes that any fan of the genre would enjoy.
Style: The writing is descriptive and vivid, painting all the scenes exceptionally well, whether it's a meeting with the mentor or a bloody and brutal death. The author doesn't pull any punches and shows us the consequences of each strike and wound with vivid detail.
Story: The narrative is a dark fantasy of the best kind. The darker elements are portrayed just right. They are believable and intricately tied to the story and the characters beyond mere blood and death. We begin our adventure before awakening the system and are shown glimpses of everyday life, only to be brutally torn from it and thrown into a world of aberrations and the system.
Grammar: There are some small formatting issues, but they are all minor and do not detract from the story in the slightest.
Character: The main character plays a significant role in making this story work so well. He is very human and not afraid to show emotion, whether to his love interest or cry over a loss, yet he is capable of rising to the occasion when needed, without any whining or whimpering. The action works so well thanks to that dynamic. The time we spend following him is very pleasant during the calm parts of the story and gripping and adrenaline-pumping during the fights.
If you enjoy dark fantasy and litRPG, then you are going to love this one. - KeywielderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoying the story so far, the opening had a good hook and we’re slowly learning about the new world with plenty left to uncover, the MC is a little crazy but for good reason and the supporting characters are interesting as well, would definitely recommend, thanks for your hard work!
- Novel HavenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, so I just finished the chapter and I'm buzzing! Seriously, the opening scene on that ship – the storm, the tension, that weird feeling in the air... I was hooked from the first sentence. Jacob is such a great character; that grumpy exterior, the way he handles his crew... I'm already rooting for him. And the dialogue? So realistic! I could practically smell the salt spray. Those Irv'eth are seriously creepy, and that whole "pulsating darkness" thing? Gave me goosebumps.
Then BAM, we're in the dungeon with Elias. At first, I was a little like, "Wait, what?", but the dungeon-crawling stuff is actually really cool. The whole system thing is interesting – not too complicated, but it adds a lot to the story. I was really feeling for Elias, especially his internal monologue. The pressure he's under, the choices he has to make... Picking Resilience felt like the only option for him, poor guy.
But honestly, the switch between Jacob and Elias felt a bit abrupt. It's like two awesome short stories suddenly crammed together. I need to know how they're connected! Are they going to meet? Is there some bigger story linking them? That's what's keeping me up at night now.
Despite that, this chapter was amazing. The writing is fantastic, the characters are so well done, and the world is so interesting. I'm already desperate for the next chapter to see how everything comes together. Five stars – I definitely recommend it! - chrissquirrelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Excellent story that keeps you interested and intrigued about what's happening to each of the characters. The journey of the main character is a very addictive tale and even though the other characters need to have backstories you want to keep reading about the MC
Only flaw is the time it takes to write new chapters you just want to keep reading but you have to wait for new chapters to be released - RohlfingRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I wouldn’t call this a slow burn, I was engaged the whole way through. There was action in almost every chapter, but the author also did an excellent job of slowing down to show character. This is a pretty cozy fantasy story, one that brings back memories of so many other stories. It is well worth a read.
Plot and Story: Leaves you wondering. Keeps you hooked. A bit tragic at some points. You can see the character beginning to grow into his power despite his unusual circumstances.
Characters: Interesting characters with some good chemistry. Not exactly funny, but they were fun. The author gets you to like the characters before ripping your heart out.
Setting: Small changes to the pretty standard LitRPG setting. Expect a fantasy world with monsters and dungeons and of course stats.
Grammar and Prose: Grammar was pretty solid, with only a few small errors, which are pretty inevitable. The prose was decent, and almost memorable in a few places.
Style: The pacing was good, a proper mix of action and characterization, which can be hard to get sometimes. The scenes were well thought out. Fairly standard LitRPG style, if that’s what you’re into. Brings back nostalgia for lots of other stories. - mousehowlRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The writing quality is above average, but the storytelling needs more time to either shine or fall flat.
Plot so far is mainly focused on skill development, but there is a subplot the MC is not yet a part of for the big threats. The power growth focused plot isn't bad, but nothing special.
Other reviews praise the character development. Personally I don't think its been handled well at all. Sure, the MC has some trauma that gets referenced, but it's not actually a part of the MCs decision making or actions. Nearly every decision has been made by the "system" forcing his hand with a required quest or by his power acting outside of his control. The MC decides nothing, or is actually leaning towards a cowardly decision before he loses the chance to decide himself. There's no development from this, there's no character study, it's basically meaningless.
Trying to stick with the story, I think it has the potential of 4+ rating, but the lack of agency and a plot driven by author fiat and not the character greatly diminishes my enjoyment. - ishnerRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The amount on needless filler in this story is *staggering*.
As a pristine example, the entirerity of chapter 2 is a POV for a girl who dies in chapter 5 and does not come back. She is vaguely important, in that dead childhood friends can have their names pulled out to give an MC a burst of motivation when needed, but the entire chapter could have been skipped without loss. The entire chapter serves only to introduce a 5 year old who would later get two POV chapters of *her* own, which in turn exist only to introduce a *third* girl who actually matters to the story, but does nothing relevant in book 1.
That is three plot threads in a chain each opened and dropped without doing anything other than open the next thread, all culminating in the MC saying hello to a girl and not talking to her before the book ends.
If it was just this one sideplot-chain, it would not be so bad, but the entire story is structured this way: a pile of unresolved lose ends being waved in front of your nose to make you read the next chapter. Any time the main character gets a LITRPG advancement, he sits on the upgrade for a dosen chapters or two, and only actually upgrades after the next upgrade is available to do nothing with and hold you in suspense.
The whole story is all anticipation and no payof.
Also, the "Sexual Content" warning entierly fails to ever show up. One more expectation intentionally created by the author and never delivered on.
