Description
After her father’s death, Arianna’s life was empty. No family, no one who cared, nothing to live for. A mysterious necklace and the patron system gave her purpose again: Cassis. Night after night, he appeared in her dreams, fighting to survive in a dying, apocalyptic world. She supported him, cared for him, until the day she unexpectedly died. Dragged into the very world from her dreams, Arianna now finds herself ten years in the past, at the dawn of the apocalypse. The only problem? Arianna isn't a warrior, but just an ordinary accountant. Alongside Cassis, in this strange yet familiar world, amongst all the chaos and pain, she finds happiness again. She will do anything to keep it. Even fighting, facing death, and becoming the warrior she never knew she could be. *Updates every Sunday.* *If you're reading anywhere other than RoyalRoad, you're reading a stolen copy."

- spacecowboyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0When I first read the description of this story a week ago, it sounded interesting, but nothing too wild or standout. Time travel with a touch of isekai or Dimensional travel tossed in, then wrapped up in a LitRPG showed promise, but the description far undersells the story, once I started to read.
What really stands out to me, is that we often read stories in this genre that have the moved character be either a standard player archtype, or a deity backer who interacts with other characters to make an impact on the world. This story, however, casts Arianna into both roles simultaneously, which makes it (as far as I know) as close to unique as can be. She gets some cheats and tools from her prior timeline role as Cassis' patron backer, but also gets to be a player, all at the same time. As of now, the patron side has only been used to a surface level degree, such as purchasing items to give a step up and some story exposition, but there are hints of more laid out that I'm looking forward to the writer exploring.
The time travel aspect has been fun so far, and done in a way that immediately flips the story on its head. We [the readers] are introduced to a lot of future events that have obvious villains behind them, but are just normal people in the new timeline, and it's fantastic seeing the characters in the know struggle with that knowledge. There are also no 'well, if we do X we can prevent Y' moments either, as soon as their initial actions and changes are made, everything they thought they knew is thrown out the window, and the author seems to delight in further forcing new perspectives on them as time goes by, muddying the waters of what is good, bad, etc.
The characters are fun as well, though there are one or two that might feel a little hand wavy to help the plot along, none of them are badly written, and there's depth to even some of the supporting cast as well as our main duo of Arianna and Cassis. As we're not given a lot of information about the prior tim - Cain.13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0What I like most about the story so far is the system and Cassis and Arianna's relationship. The power leveling is going very well so far, the classes and skills are very interesting. The world building is integrated into the story which makes it feel more natural and the pacing is very good. I really like the characters, both the main ones and the secondary ones, they are really cool. Well that's it, I hope you continue the novel because it's very good and thank you for writing.
- Atopat9999Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I decide to give this story a try because I was bored. I didn´t think it would be this great. I like the characters, the plot, the power leveling ... It is certainly a great story. Definetly it will be on rising stars soon, I am sure of this. I guess I am lucky to have found this gem early
- Gabrielle CharlotteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reminds me of like Sword Art Online meets A Court of Thrones and Roses so far, though maybe it's just because Cassis's name reminds me of Cassian. The patron system seems like a neat idea! I also appreciate the classic homage to truck-kun, and the cliffy ending is a nice touch. I guess the age thing will be explained in the next chapter, so it'll be cool to see if it's like time-loop/time-travel on top of the isekai elements. Thanks for the read!
- K_NishiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have long believed that Japanese narou-kei web novels share many similarities with the LitRPG genre on Royal Road. Because of that, I was curious to see what kind of story Veerku would create when using such a framework as the core premise. I have only read the first six chapters so far, but I would like to share my impressions.
In most conventional LitRPGs, the perspective is male-centered, the protagonist is male, and the story typically follows the familiar formula of “male hero + rapid power growth + overpowered dominance + harem elements.” This story deliberately breaks away from that mold. Here, the true protagonist appears to be Ariana. Due to the actions of Cassis, she is thrown into a game-like world and becomes an entity of chaos—a concept I find highly intriguing. The idea that human beings cannot be easily classified as good or evil, but instead shift between both depending on circumstances and environment, is handled with skill.
Rather than following the typical “lone male powerhouse” path, we have Cassis—someone prone to reckless decisions and even death—paired with Ariana, who is younger yet resourceful, quick-witted, and capable in battle when the moment demands it. They start at a relatively low level, which adds realism; their struggle against even an orc feels like watching real people fight for survival.
I rarely read LitRPG on RR, and I am generally not fond of narou-kei, yet I am genuinely glad I began this story. Beneath the LitRPG surface lies a human drama, an action tale, and a mystery of an incomprehensible world. I am eager to see what happens next. - KaeinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I clicked on this story by complete accident, read the premise, and decided to stick around.
Glad I did. This story is certainly an interesting one, although it's not exactly whats labeled on the tin.
The first arc is pretty straightforward. Apocalypse system story, the two protagonists have to deal with it and the angst they have between them. The action is good, the POV switching never feels strange and the prose is quite excellent at setting the scene, with only very minor grammar mistakes here and there.
And then the first arc ends and the first wave is gone. And suddenly...we're in a completely different genre story.
The first arc sells you on this bleak Apocalypse story that the main starting protagonists are trying to avoid. They're preventing things from being as bad as they were in their own timeline. So the story kinda sets the tone that the world will be full of monsters and everyone will have to resort to community building to prevent this. So you'll expect building walls, people learning new classes and professions to help out with defense and survival, and lots of patrols to stop monster attacks.
...except the story says "Nah not right now" and pretty much after the initial wave civilization is restored and people are on cell phones and social media sharing about all the craziness that happened to them.
While this isn't bad, it's certainly unexpected. I expected community building and instead got secret drama with black ops assassins, training military soldiers, and a mysterious right hand of the world leader that was evil in the other timeline yet seems okay in this one.
So do I recommend it? Yeah. It's good. The author is cooking. But if you expected a standard lit rpg Apocalypse this isn't exactly it. It started out as Rising Of The Shield hero vibes, especially with the sweet girl and brooding guy protagonists. Now it's kind of a Solo Leveling sort of vibe, normal life alongside monsters and levels. People getting killed by dungeon breaks but also - Pedro AndradeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm used to reading stories about an apocalypse system happening in the world . And I can say with confidence that this story stands out, I couldn't see a negative point in the system, and it shows itself to be a well-constructed system, the world story is well-constructed, the characters they are complex beings, with a past and a history, even the secondary ones. I'm looking forward to what comes in the next chapters and how society will unfold and develop after the first wave and people will learn more about the system.
The writing is good, so is the grammar. The characters are all fleshed out and have their own motivations and personalities. The storyline makes sense and flows.
There is romance yay! There are many mysteries still waiting to be discovered and many level ups and skills to come.
Really enjoying this story. - CmalonekRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5After having binged reading it a couple times I can say it is going to be a fun story. While there are some plot devices that were made and then either forgot or ignored until resources were available do the characters to use said plot devices I’m still looking forward to the profession choices they make since Cassis lived for years in that world he probably had a profession of some type… maybe.
The magic system is fun to theorize about as well, one nugget I’ve always wondered was after making the Holy Water spell would funneling water mana into other shapes increase or decrease proficiency? The way it was worded was kind of “I have a template (the healing spell) and when it’s filled with mana a spell is made or performed” I wonder if the increase of proficiency is “I have some mana and now I’m forcing it into the template” less mana waste if you know how much you need but a higher level of focus is needed as well
… well since I’m already this deep might as well keep going,
it’s stated that earth mana and water mana get along just fine, while wind mana fuels fire and earth supports water mana I’m wondering if Arianna can use earth mana as a sort of filter to make the water mana purer… if that is even a thing, or would it just mix the mana and make a new affinity type like plant mana?
