- AngLeeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Jun is a determined young woman navigating a world where power and status dictate one's future. As she enters the prestigious Forest's Edge Academy, she faces challenges from both the elite students and the rigorous training required to master magic. Despite the obstacles in her path, Jun is determined to carve out her own place, proving that skill and perseverance matter more than privilege. With a mix of action, strategy, and personal growth, her journey unfolds in a compelling and immersive fantasy setting.
This novel delivers a captivating blend of adventure, intrigue, and character development. The story is well-paced, keeping readers engaged with its rich world-building and dynamic cast. Jun's journey is both inspiring and intense, making her a protagonist worth rooting for. The novel balances action and depth, providing an enjoyable experience for fantasy fans. Whether you're drawn to magic, academy settings, or character-driven narratives, this written work is a solid choice. - FromTheDeepRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think this story is a great read and starting off very strong. The first chapter is super dark but the author does hide the gruesome stuff behind spoilers and you can easily not read it and not lose anything, but it does alot to set the tone of the character, a traumatised young women thrust into strange and dangerous circumstances. Yes she can be whiny and naively innocent at times but it's being worked through and addressed not just one and done told to get over it so she does ( that's not how it works people).
The magic system is quite interesting and I'm keen to see how that aspect of the world building is explored. Very light sprinkling of game boxes, just enough to help.
Side characters are fun and engaging and slowly being fleshed out which is good to see at the start of the story.
Overall a definite follow to see where it goes and enjoy the ride along the way - RavensLikeShinyThingsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not great at writing reviews so I'll keep it short.
I am really enjoying the characters and their development so far.
The world building is also very nice, but I sometimes have to reread some of the system explanation stuff to understand it properly.
Overall, I am enjoying reading about Jun and her adventures quite a bit. - Chele42Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found this through an authors note on another story that I was reading, but I don’t remember which one. When I find them while I’m immersed in a story, I just add them to the read later, and then by the time I get to them I can’t remember who recommended them.
Any way, I very quickly became immersed into Jun’s story. Her past is heartbreaking, but her present and future are fascinating and wonderful. Who wouldn’t want to be reborn in a world of magic like this, and the fact that her cat plays such a role in the story, I love it!
This fiction is very well written, storyline flows nicely, I found minimal if any grammar issues. I hope to read more from this author. - WeavervaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0*She had legs! She had a body! Excitedly, she rushed to the water's edge to look at her reflection. A strange sight greeted her.*
Grammar this is peak web fiction. 5/5. I didn't see any grammar errors.
Character 5/5 Jun is very believable. Her actions make sense in the context of her karmic issues. This starts off very heavy, and I'm happy to see it take a strong agency vibe early on. That said she makes some choices that inform her character in terms of what she does with the karmic value she starts with.
Style. Also a hit. The boxes formatted odd of mobile web browsers is the only issue. Other than that it adheres to the normal rules here.
Plot! Story! 6/5!
After dying and living a terrible life, Jun gets a new chance on life. What she does next, well it's highly informed by her previous trauma. She doesn't want to go back home so she spends enough time deciding one where to go that she gets a better gauge of who she is in terms of her Karmic past and future. From there, she fixed several particular abilities and traits that give us more identity as to who she is and what she's doing. With that. I think it's very well written for that and it's I got a tight intro. - misssaturnRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The story has an interesting plot with a lot of opportunities for the future as well. There are many side characters that are noteworthy as well, with Shiori being my favorite. The karmic influence is a novelty for me in terms of trait too. It's heartwarming that Jun was finally able to concile her identity with her body.
As for what I don't like:
The MC has a personality that doesn't sit well with me. Quite whinny and why the hell is she blushing all the time?!
I also wish I could read more stories that don't have a standard sexual harassment practice. Like, seriously, you are in a different planet and men (mostly) can be so disgusting. It's so often that it's very annoying.
The whole attitude towards nobles are also included in the previous point. By now, I preferred when MC was just training with Shiori. - StarScreamRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I'm a bit torn on this title. On the one hand, it's really good in the beginning. The main character is well-written, the world-building is good, Shiori is very interesting, and the skills and abilities are well-presented. The problems begin when the MC leaves the forest and enters human habitation, and a whole host of other characters are introduced. By and large, they're pretty good, but then the author goes and starts splitting into a billion different viewpoints, including a large amount of time inside Goblins' heads, which I honestly really don't care about. The POV splits start to detract from the story after a while and make reading feel like a slog. The progression is glacial. Couple that with the MC's personality regressing, and they become quite whiny and annoying; it's hard to read. The premise is quite good and the execution early on is done very well, but it's becoming a slog to read. I've found myself skipping entire sections because they just don't interest me. There needs to be some rapid character development and things need to move along quicker IMO. I hope the author manages to turn it around. I still recommend giving this a try if you're on the fence.
