Gamble for Azeroth

Description

Arvis Godwyn was not a lucky man. Having Grand Marshall Garithos as his uncle as the regent ruling his house would have been enough. Being exiled to guard the remains of Stratholme was not as fun. But, things only go truly wrong when he receives the news of King Terenas' assassination ... in a very unusual manner. [Chaos Gacha Variant System] [Warcraft]

Not a self+insert Gatcha, but rather a small time npc in the right place and the right time to possibly change how things happened during the events of Warcraft 3.
What with the powers granted as of Ch8, we're looking at a defacto Druid/Paladin/Mage and author commented about Rogue in there.
6 stars. -1 for lack of otters. Or foxes. Foxes would be nice too. But the lack of otters means this fic fails the very important "cute mustelid" metric.

I love a good WoW story, but they are so rare. Thank you for making this one! It's really a great read. The MC is interesting to read about because he isn't a Self-Insert ( Although I would love to read a SI as well ) and it's nice to see what someone from that world would do with the Chaos Gacha. ( Even with the modified Chaos Gacha you have going on. ) The grammar is pretty good. The character interactions are nice to see as well. ( Even if we haven't interacted with to many people so far. )
I like the world your building as well moving on from the game mechanics to real world logic. It's very interesting to see how the world is filled out. I can't wait to see what the Orcs of your version of World of Warcraft are going to be like. Are they going to be the revamped version from the Lich King or the originals? ( It's been years since I played the game, but I'm pretty sure the original Horde were more evil instead of the newer version. BUT, I might be wrong and fanfics have warped my knowledge of the game. )
Also, is it just me or is it hard to get a word count of 200 words for the advanced review? I haven't been on Royal Road in years, and honestly I'm not liking this setup.
Thank you for the new story Jesse Desire!

Honestly it's so unique compared to many of the other Gacha stories I've seen since the mc doesn't have metaknowledge to make him more or less biased against or for certain rolls he gets. The fact it is World of Warcraft just makes it better. Since I've never seen a Gacha story set here before.

A very good story, it's rare for a chaos gacha story to make it here as opposed to alternative site's which is a crying shame. It's a really fun premise and the author has used it very well. Good initial characters and im excited to see how this one will turn out and hope it doesn't die like alot of its ilk.Bronz would be proud

One cannot imagine the power of meta-knowledge. Or how rage-provoking the lack of it is. But sometimes invoking anger is necessary to support one's suspension of disbelief and support the story.
This protagonist is a local.  He doesn't have a near encyclopedic knowledge of the various gacha entries. All he can do is make various best guesses based on his own local understanding, priorities and the direct language of the gacha.
Because of this unlike many gacha stories, he experiences true randomness and makes mistakes. Rather, they aren't mistakes but reasonable information-based losses and reasonable information-based success. He doesn't run into the exact right thing at the exact right time.  His synergies are only due to the accumulation. He also misses some. Like Item creation.  Wrrrryyyy!   Faction leaders in his world are all prime combat units on the battlefield.  They support one the battlefield. The concept of a leader running a bunch of abilities that effectively create an RTS doesn't exist locally.  Warcraft tech hasn't gotten crazy and he hasn't truly experienced the power of non combat skills.  He doesn't know and honeslty that is brilliant.  It alow him to be genuinely smart and clever without riding a standard anwer. I love it.

So far it seems really interesting. The writing style is easy to read and the beginning does a good job of drawing you in. The author sets things up in a way that makes you curious about what will happen next.
It’s still early on, but the book seems promising and I’m looking forward to reading more.

The first 15 chapters have been an interesting read. I am not familiar with the gacha system myself, and the fact that it was a WoW fan-fiction is what drew me to it. It's fun to be as clueless about gacha as the protagonist, while knowing the events of years to come as a fan of the game's lore. I may read up on the intricacies of gacha, and how chaos gacha is different, but it may be more fun to stay as ignorant of it as the MC.
You don't need to be a fan of World of Warcraft to enjoy the story, but it certainly adds weight to every event and detail the author sprinkles in. Of which, there is a lot to be enjoyed. I believe most WoW fans will enjoy this and will recommend it to my friends. The grammar can be spotty here and there after the first five chapters, disrupting immersion, but otherwise it's pretty good.
The first few chapters were the most intriguing for me, and I am excited to see how the MC will develop and where his journey will take him. The world-building is very good, too. How will the MC utilize his random powers? What new powers are waiting just around the corner? Will he be able to survive the apocalypse we know is coming? I can't wait to find out.
Cheers, Jesse Desire, and good luck!

Very well written story, with interesting development so far. Im looking forward to what comes next, very few si stories in the wow universe of this type. Of the ones I've read almost all feature quelthalas, this is the first I've read featuring lordaeron before its completely fallen. Keep up the good work sir!

Fantastic until the return to Stratholme - I like the strategic leader genre (and as a beginner to warcraft lore with only a vague recollection of the events of WC3 this was a nice story). With that said I need to deduct a star because after gaining the Stratholm garrison I expected him to start using *some* of his followers. But no, our MC has repeated the same loop of running off like a lone hero for the entire story. A faction leader that spends 99%+ of their awake time away from their faction isn't a faction leader. 🥲The story would be more interesting if he started incorporating his faction in his battle strategies - or at least their production. But so far it's 100% the MC solo. He both creates all the food singlehandedly and almost singlehandedly gets the kills himself. He dismissed the Legendary trait to make enchanted gear (for his army he never brings) - and it's ok to balance personal and faction power, but there is no balance. He literally has people swear loyalty and then leaves within minutes again and again. He doesn't even bring small support teams or explain to people when he leaves for days on end. That isn't how crisis organizations work. Not once it grows above a thousand. 😅Again - this was fine until he got control of the Stratholme garisson (if a bit vexing). But it really needs to be rewritten from there to be a 5-star story. Zero use of his faction followers along with the MC's speeches becoming rampantly arrogant was hard to read.- At least one instance of the MC being injured and benefitting from the priest he recruited would be beneficial.- At least one nstance of the MC losing would be beneficial. Him being better and smarter than everyone else makes the world feel... small.
