Devour. Level up. Repeat.
Awakening in an abandoned lab with no knowledge of the world, Evelyn is empowered by a system that grants her bloody magical powers in exchange for finishing missions and consuming her enemies.
She knows one truth: no matter the cost, she will advance. She’ll manipulate allies and spread demonic corruption with a smile if that’s what it takes to level up.
Her first mission is to escape the lab's other newly born creations. But once she steps foot into the world outside of the lab, she must contend with people who forbid her existence and who will work to eradicate those with her powers from the face of the planet.
The outside world may be vast and deadly, but Evelyn will be deadlier.

- znoWRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR: Don't binge the beginning, it is quite a lot without breaks, maybe just split it over a day. If you don't like it by chapter 28 (?), you won't like it. Thats where her personality and values get fully established (i think?). Give her a chance, if you really don't like full on murderhobo fun, why are you here?
might maybe count as spoilers?
This is my favorite ongoing story (regularly posting) on RR right now, but it is possible that I could've dropped it in the early stages. I went into it expecting murderhobo, brain-turnoff fun and very little story at the beginning. I mean, you get it from the synopsis and title, right? I am very much into this sort, others might not be but I think that most people who don't like this are people who want a more slow-paced and story focused thing. If you don't have that clear preferances or are willing to give it a chance anyway (cause it's a banger okay) I would say to read it with BREAKS. I started reading it early so i got the releases as they came and that paced the stupid ammount of action in the early chapters great and it just gets a lot better from there. There's actual objectives that don't just follow quests, allies, real PERSONALITY and still a lack of empathy. By chapter 28 her personality and we are shown a bit what the story is going to be about going forward a bit more. By the next 10 chaps many of the questions will be answered, and so on. The 2nd book is where it really gets good, you still get that action, but there is a lot more focus on the characters and how they had, and are developing so far. yeah this is enough, bye - Seeking PolarisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A proper evil monster story, I love it.
Or at least anti-hero monster? I guess it could potentially change a bit later on, but this definitely isn't looking like your standard run of the mill monster turned hero story.
Every other author either walks that line of an innocent monster precisely or strays on the side of good, so it's refreshing to see a story that dives right into the other side.
I'm definitely gonna be following this story for a good long while, especially since they already have a good story with consistent updates proving that this story isn't just gonna be abandoned early on. Way too many promising new authors underestimated the ammount of work required to make a good story, or due to mistakes or unsatisfactory dicisions made early on in writing the story they decide to abandon it or start from scratch.
well anyways, 10/10 as of chapter 14, would heavily recomend that everyone who likes the story signs up for this authors patreon, since we all know more money equals a longer life and thus more chapters. eventually. - TajarimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0People who touch children weirdly are awful. But eating them (and everything else) is only just and right. Becoming a babytarian is probably healthier than paleo anyway. Would I myself do such a thing in the place of the MC? Heck yeah!
Apart from the culinary aspects of the story it's fun for the whole (childless) family, grammar and such stuff is also pleasantly existent.
All in all truly WUNDERBAR! - WisemouseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Author is very good at creating tense conflicts for the main character EV3 especially given that we expect them to come out on top in a progression story. They do this by having the opposition create intelligent plans and counter measures, while also showing why the MC deserves for such caution to be needed. I am loving the introduction of a psudo-mentor character who is going to bully EV3.
STYLE
First person perspective. There is a little too much telling instead of showing, especially where the memories that EV3 comes prepackaged with are concerned. Still, it is easy to stay in EV3's head and both action and intrigue scenes are well constructed.
GRAMMAR
I can't pick apart specifics, but the writing is smooth. The author avoids awkard sentance structure/orders and nothing feels like it is forcibly injected to explain something.
STORY
I was clenching a few times for EV3! She is good at making plans but can be wrong. The fight against the last baby is a great example; she got greedy and it was much harder as a result.
Spoiler and Speculative CH 7
One thing I wondered was if the evolutions would require a short down time for the demons. This is a common trope in monster progression stories, and I was excited that EV3 might have been doing a training montage to skill up while the other surviving baby was metamorphasizing, leading to a skill vs species match up. It turned out to just be waiting it out like an ambush predator, but it was a very good fight scene.
Saphire is also a great introduction to the story. EV3 is inherently antisocial and has only avoided painting a trail of blood through the countryside because she isn't stupid and realizies she is a small fish in a big pond.
Saphire as an arbitrarily strong person who is bullying, I mean, training EV3 is a good way for her to get to know more about the world in... well, I won't say safe way, but it is better than her getting to the city on the train without incident.
Character
EV3's internal thoughts are well wri - Zodiac36GoldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ignore my most probably horrible attempt at a striking and sarcastic title, but that is indeed a way to describe this story.
Let us begin! Demonic Devourer is the tale of this initially nameless (unless you count a series of letters and numbers a name)... thing. Which identifies as female. Said thing becomes more and more powerful by quite literally devouring other things, such us her brothers and sisters (in fairness, they did try to do the same to her) and, well, in general anything that has a pulse.
Sounds pretty promising to me, since I always like the stories where the protagonist decidedly is in the Dark Side and, knowing full well about it, doesn't try to change anything and instead embraces their nature.
The story itself is fast paced, with regular leveling and power ups, and with some of the greatest fighting scenes I've read on RR. Truly, a most delicious story.
The writing is excellent, there are hardly any typos (and the few that are there you usually skim over, autocorecting them in your mind), and as such the reading is extremely fluid, which we all know is a plus to any story!
All in all, the 5 stars were all well deserved. Read this, you won't regret it! - crueloptimismRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A lot of people (including the author) likes to nickname this story "babyeater," and I get it. You'll find that the main character does indeed eat babies. Note, however, that she is also a baby when this happens and that both she and the other babies are demonic test tube experiments. So, if you were worried about the babyeating, rest assured: all babies eaten were demonic abominations.
Style: Fast-paced, delivers everything you need to know when you absolutely need to know it so nothing is bogged down in details, visceral descriptions. First person perspective here is done super well and makes for a compelling read.
Story: The story starts with action and continues with that. If you like the first part, then you'll probably like the rest of it. Not that there are more babies to eat after the first group, but the entire world is technically the enemy here, and the main character's survival is tied to whether she's powerful enough or cunning enough to destroy whoever comes after her.
Grammar: Just fine. It's a first draft and it far exceeds the standards here than other stories on the website still.
Character: The main character embodies my absolute favorite type of character to read. Badass. Practical. No shit-taking. The characterization makes a lot of sense, too, given the circumstances of her birth (you know, the part where she has to kill the babies like her in order to survive). - silveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.024 chapters in and I haven't been able to put the book down, not the most emotionally investing but for a fun simple read about stats, skills, and progression I'd say it's up there. If you like characters with little moral quandries and fast paced action give it a try. Also the memes are great
- Authors DreadRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel is a wild ride! I was hooked right from the baby eatin' part. It's a crazy LitRPG with a demon MC who's just tryna survive and get stronger. The action is non-stop and the power progression is so cool!
The writing style is easy to follow and I'm loving the mix of modern and fantasy in the world. The MC is a bit of a psycho, but I can't help but root for her. Can't wait to see where this story goes!
5/5, would recommend to anyone who loves fast-paced, action-packed stories! Baby munchin' for the win. - Memento_Mori22Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely plan to stick with this series as I enjoyed the world building, loved the character setting, and was intrigued by all of the secondary characters. If you enjoy a solid background story with some magic and mysteries, you might enjoy it as much as I did.Of course, most importantly anyone who enjoyed good ol cannibalism and baby eating, would absolutely love this story.
- Michael WhitmerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an amazing story that I checked out at the recommendation of another author. It so far has not disappointed. In fact I'd say the opposite I've greatly enjoyed it.. The main character is just the right mix of naive and jaded about the world. I mean any person that their first memory is of having to kill the closest thing you have to a family member is going to cause some serious issues. I've enjoyed every moment of this ride so far and look forward to more.
