Devour. Level up. Repeat.

Awakening in an abandoned lab with no knowledge of the world, Evelyn is empowered by a system that grants her bloody magical powers in exchange for finishing missions and consuming her enemies.

She knows one truth: no matter the cost, she will advance. She’ll manipulate allies and spread demonic corruption with a smile if that’s what it takes to level up.

Her first mission is to escape the lab's other newly born creations. But once she steps foot into the world outside of the lab, she must contend with people who forbid her existence and who will work to eradicate those with her powers from the face of the planet.

The outside world may be vast and deadly, but Evelyn will be deadlier.

half the reviews are saying things like 'its too frantic' 'too much contrived coincidence' 'why is everyone and everything attacking her all the time'
these things are explained later in the story... some of her power feels a little unearned, but she's a damn experimental bioweapon. due to being an experimental bioweapon (that escaped her facility), there are people trying to track her down. there's more than one faction involved and you learn about them LATER IN THE STORY if you read past ch20 like some of these reviews...
oh she feels inhuman even though she says she feels human?? well if you KEEP READING there's character development in that aspect.
the random characters that get thrown in? you learn more about them as our MC interacts more with them, the ones she doesn't kill immediately at least, and also as they have some POV shift chapters to explain more of their own thought process. even the mysterious deus ex character from ch17 that MANY reviews mention, isn't as simple or deus ex as she seems.
all the enemies seem to make poor decisions or be underpowered? the story starts in the least powerful backwater country in the entire world. this changes rapidly.
it's violence after violence after violence but i feel like every complaint i've seen in the reviews, becomes resolved later or isn't what it seems. the MC doesn't start off knowing everything and the writing accurately reflects this. im eagerly awaiting more chapters after binging all of it in about 12 hours.

I've been meaning to give a review ever since this this story reached ten chapters, but I kept putting it off. Mainly because Slifer said the story was gonna get worse each time.
Thus far it seems that Slifer has lied to me (or is just really not confident in their writing). Because the story has stayed rather entertaining all throughout.
Let's start with the easy stuff. It's easy for me, because I have no clue how proper english works. Grammar is splendid. The story reads smoothly and the sentences work, which is all that grammar has to do in my opinion.
Style is also something I struggle with properly evaluating. It does however not take away from the story, yet allows for a smooth flow.
Story and Characters are where I think I can make good judgements.
Story thus far is pretty mysterious and makes heavy use of LitRPG elements.
The Characters thus far feel very realistic and authentic.. If you read further I'll tell you what I mean with that.
Beware spoilers from here on out.
Let's talk about the characters first. I really like that we don't have any weird instrospection. Instead Eve just acts for the most part. She does things she evaluates as smart. There is no large justification, and it seems almost instinctual. Which for a being that is for the most part just a couple hours/days old feels super realistic.
It's harder to speak much to secondary characters, but this is mostly a result of the story and the fact that we are pretty early into the storytelling.
That being said, we arrive at the story itself. And potentially the only gripe I have with this story. At around chapter eight or nine (can't remember) we have a very sudden shift of tone from the first chapters. A sort of horror survival situation changes to an intrique/espionage/infiltration story rather immediately.
And there are no issues with that. I think, that if the transition would have been expanded on a bit, this part would have been a lot better.
There are also some interesting plot points, such

As of right now (chapter 20) I can't say exactly that There's anything in this fic that jumps out as particularly unique, it delivers exactly what it says on the tin, but it does so excellently. I'm a sucker for good execution on a tried and true concept and so far Devourer more than lives up.

This novel is a wild ride! I was hooked right from the baby eatin' part. It's a crazy LitRPG with a demon MC who's just tryna survive and get stronger. The action is non-stop and the power progression is so cool!
The writing style is easy to follow and I'm loving the mix of modern and fantasy in the world. The MC is a bit of a psycho, but I can't help but root for her. Can't wait to see where this story goes!
5/5, would recommend to anyone who loves fast-paced, action-packed stories! Baby munchin' for the win.

Interesting set up and progression so far, and the author's prose is eminently readable. Our demon main character has just been born, yet somehow knows things they shouldn't. It's early in the story but already there's lots of set up for plot and lore reveals later. Classic use of the "main character devours others to get stronger" trope

Includes things such as cannibalism, eating humans for personal gain, identity theft and resisting and escaping law enforcement.
Story is fast paced so far, with good action and no HP bars, despite being litrpg (which is good, I despise HP bars, they make no damn sense).
Grammar is excellent. (Have I written 50 words yet?)

Very few stories live up to their summaries. Even less when they take the time to point out the gender of their protagonist. Usually, when that happens I expect some person with a gender problem pushing their issues into the story and downing whatever the opposing gender is, whether it be male or female or one of the many "new" genders people identify as these days.
Not so here. Here we find a character who is badass, not by merit of making everyone around them incompetent, like so many woke writers do these days, but I stead by merit of just being actually badass. Instead of the author TELLING you that you should love the character and that they're "so cool!" (Despite them being anything but!) Here we have a character that actually LIVES UP to the hype.
Sp glad I gave this a chance, that I was willing to look and see if it was trash instead of assuming just because so many others are. A rare gem. Stands up to older classic like The Deed of Paksenarrion, at least so far, for me. And frankly, the way it is written, I highly doubt that it will lose quality. Rather, I suspect the quality will only Co tinge to improve.

I absolutely plan to stick with this series as I enjoyed the world building, loved the character setting, and was intrigued by all of the secondary characters. If you enjoy a solid background story with some magic and mysteries, you might enjoy it as much as I did.Of course, most importantly anyone who enjoyed good ol cannibalism and baby eating, would absolutely love this story.

This is an amazing story that I checked out at the recommendation of another author.  It so far has not disappointed.  In fact I'd say the opposite I've greatly enjoyed it..  The main character is just the right mix of naive and jaded about the world.  I mean any person that their first memory is of having to kill the closest thing you have to a family member is going to cause some serious issues.  I've enjoyed every moment of this ride so far and look forward to more.

Eating babies is fun and cool as long as you're physically attractive, or eventually grow up to be.
Oh and the story is great, too.
I like the part where she says "I eat the baby"
The prose is great. I love the concept, the world is very suctive. It's quite suctional, really sucks you in. I do love suction.
