The dilemma of the protagonist trying to fulfill his hearts desires (literally) in such a cruel world are one of the most unique and interesting dynamics i have ever seen on royal road
10/10, this is the book with the most potential I've read in a while.

I've read this story on another site and I liked it a lot. I read to around chapter 40 over there. The story itself is well written and interesting. I don't really have any major issues with it. It has a somewhat unique system as well. I look forward to seeing what the author does with the story.

There's a lot to love about this series, while there's a few blips that keep it from being a full 5/5 personally, I'd certainly rate it higher than a RR 4.5, so 5 it is.
In terms of style, excellent. The world-building, atmosphere, mechanics for power, all very vivid, grotesque, and interesting. Always a fan of well written epigraphs.
I don't pay heavy attention to grammar, but there's no noticeable typos that I can see.
Story is where (as someone who's read up to ch.98 from Patreon), for my personal preferences this one falls slightly short. There is a significant focus on romantic drama, and too many women in love with the main character for a story that isn't supposed to be a rom-com harem. The narrative is still interesting, but fails to match the uniqueness of the setting.
Characters I value highly, and while not quite at the level where I'd be able to identify them from dialogue with no context , the characters are good. A likeable protagonist and supporting cast, nicely fleshed out to ensure they're more than one-dimensional archetypes.
It's an easy recommend overall, assuming one can stomach some body horror, and some degree of melodrama.

Fresh content. Frest like fresh meat. Husband and wife have self mutilation followed by mutual cannibal sex cultivation. Yup. No joke.
    This is heavy metal xianxia.
Instead of the usual grim dark worlds with absurd levels of crualty, here, it's all about flesh magic being business as usual. A healthy dose of masochism is required for all cultivators. Unlike grim dark worlds that make no sense, here, lunacy seems almost logical and serene.
Also, unlike pure smut stories that feel forced and an excuse for the smut, here it's a real story with complex lore and characters, with sexualised interactions being part of the world building.
The main criticism is the excessive amount of lore dumps in each chapter, but you can just skip those.

The world building and character writing is excellent. The world is intricate and interesting and the characters feel real. The story gets you significantly invested in even side characters and makes you want to know more about everything. The story has minor pacing issues in the beginning but the author is aware of them and is actively improving them. Overall one of the better stories I have read on royal road.

    Reviewed at Chapter 73.
A simple, tldr first: This is a Drama/character exploration that doesn't shy away from darker events, and that has a messy world that mostly seems to exist to explain extreme personalities, relationships, and decisions. Not enough Power-growth for Xianxia and not enough Eyes-In-The-Skull for Eldritch. Mislabeled, but not bad.
A longer review explaining this (with minor spoilers):
This story might be named after our protagonist, but the story itself is a lot more invested in character dynamics then a Xianxia or Eldritch themed story would care. The simplest way to show this is to tell you that none of the named characters we've met have died or suffered fates worse then death.
In either genre, that would raise an eyebrow. In something proclaiming to be both, that's quite bizarre.
That's not to say this doesn't get dark. I personally wasn't much impacted by the casual cannibalism (god i read too much), and unfortunately writing as a medium struggles with impactful body-horror—and this story is no exception to me. But for people who prefer not to have to google what offal is and how that word works in relation to someone exploding, this might get a bit queasy. But MC purposefully refrains from the deeper taboos, and so we don't get a strong feeling of a horrifying world. Even if it might reasonably be. We-the-readers get the impression that world that is dark, but not 'corrupt' or 'evil'. Or at least not in an overarching, foundational way. Perhaps because of a lack of emotionally impactful examples of someone being on the wrong end of the buffet table.
This brings me to my mentioning of the story as not quite Eldritch and not quite Xianxia. To my understandings of both genres, the setting might be, but the story certainly is not. In much the same way that Nyaruko: Crawling with Love is unquestionably a slice of life despite nominally being set in the Cthulhu mythos. Feng (our main character) might grow his cultivation and encounter unknowable b

The start of it does make it feel more combat focused then it is, but shows just how wonderfully gorey it is. Having such amazing world building that isn't shoved in your face but let's you drink it as fast as you desire is something I've been needing for awhile.
Don't worry, it doesn't tell you too much. There is still so much mystery even if it lets you take in how the world is. It lets you have just enough information to start building some ideas of what's going to happen, but it never feels like it retcons or changes something that's super unexpected. That's not to say there aren't some worldbending twists, not to spoil anything now but the interludes plant landmines that I can't wait to see get paid off.
The main character is a hero yes, but there is immense conflict with the world of cultivators as a whole because giving goes against every fundamental law that this world gives to its people. Even if it is his heart that guides him, he knows how wrong it is to give and help but does it in spite of himself for his greed...his situation resonates with me a lot and makes me feel much more personal with this story then others.
There is plenty more for you to discover here, I haven't even gone to the best part! The themes of gore and excess. They are written perfectly so as to not feel really bad yet the feeling you get as you think of how these things are presented and brought is not something to take lightly. The feeling of excess, of gorging yourself on the flesh and blood of others is clear and played perfectly. I wish I could say more...but I'm going back to reading it.

This novel is one of the better ones I've read on this site. The characters, world, and cultivation are all unique.
I can't quite place it, but the setting and vibes of the story really remind me of the "The Lands Between" and of Elden Ring.
That sense of awe and of stagnation. That things are off.
I can't describe it, but the novel really is a vibe.
The biggest issue of the novel is it's pacing. With it being very slow at times.

Genuinely don't understand the issues some have with the story's pacing. It goes at it with a reasonable pace. Along with the interludes and such building upon the world and backstory while leaving questions to be answered. The concept of using eldritch horror alongside the typical Xianxia genre you'd see, and the way the author goes about actually blending them is very good. The horror and mystery of the eldritch and the remain even as Xianxia does its usual thing lol. The protag, I would argue, acts reasonably considering his situation. The characters actually feel like they're fleshed out. Not there just to fill space and solely be expended for the MC. Ofc there could be improvements, but is that not the case with all things? Overall the book leaves a very delectable taste on the tounge and the mind craving more.

Reviewed at chapter 47 - Father and Son ( might show chap 13 cus I read this story while being logged out lmao )
The story is genuinely very good and is orignal...
The concept of eldritch horror with Xianxia is fantastic and the world buildup and backstories are also great...
The story has a bad pacing very bad and the first book isn't actually about adventures on the eldritch horror , the first book mostly focuses on .... Sex, gore , sect life and MC's internal thoughts ....
The first book wasn't the cup of my tea but I liked the actions very much ...
Also the author seems to be making a harem which i genuinely won't be liking ... Like it's a flesh eating power system, so its also kinda not normal to see multiple girls eating MC's flesh... Also I would like the Current FMC tk be the only love intrest... Like she is stronger than MC and still isn't willing to have multiple spouses but it won't be suiting for the MC who is on the weaker side to have it ...
Also the sudden bantering during the battle pagoda to the burning scene... It was where the story actually goes down hill ..and it gets up tho ...
The chapters are short in narrative and story progression wise ... Too much info dump...
The good parts are that it is orignal , fully orignal but the author isn't delivering it's potential ....
