Description

In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, one question haunts me - what defines our humanity? I had awakened amidst grotesque remains in a bloody alley, with no memories to call my own; I found myself ensnared in the conflict of a kingdom on the brink of destruction. An alien to the world and myself, torn between rebels and a king, hunted and feared; I am a grotesque monstrous enigma, acid and anathema to the living, and a paradox unworthy of trust or compassion.

Looking back, I am no innocent. My hands have wreaked havoc, my existence provokes dread, but is that all I am? A monster? Or is there more to me than the horror I've wrought? Is it our physical form that defines us, or our thoughts?

In this precarious world, my dual nature pulls me in opposing directions, a constant struggle between my longing for connection and the monstrous tendencies within me. I am on a desperate quest to decipher the enigma of humanity - and of myself. But with every atrocity committed, every revelation uncovered, I am forced to confront a chilling truth: Can I even call myself human?

I am consistently inconsistent with posting chapters. I try to post once a month, and if I miss a month, I will post at least twice the next month. I plan on getting a better schedule, but it isn't easy since I work a part-time job and am a full-time astrophysics student at university.

P.S. Content warnings are there for creative liberty, and AI has assisted me throughout the process of making this story. If you wish to know more about my writing process, feel free to ask. I might also make a chapter later on explaining it.

This story is provides alot of detail into the character thoughts and it does it well, It really does live up it's psychological tag.The writing style is pretty rare for this site as the author makes frequent use of dashes and semicolons. This story is really promising and I have enjoyed it so far.

It's early days, consequentially pretty hard to tell which direction the story will go.
But lets talk about the aspects that are already identifiable. The writing is good, I, for one, enjoy descriptive language and the author knows how to translate emotions into words, which is not a given on this site. I usually don't read slowly and consequentially can't say for sure if there truly are no mistakes, but I didn't see any. Only qualm would be some repetitive word usage, but that's mainly in the first chapter. If that's your first story, chapeau, keep it up.
the setup is intriguing thus far, an exciting combination of action, exposition and mystery. And \i, for one, quite like the character of the protagonist. Now, with over 10 million fantasy books around, it's quite difficult to call soemthing unique or original, but so far, this story could turn out to be a combination of tropes and tried elements that might just turn out to be refreshingly new. I'm quite curious who the protagonist is and what miracles or curses fate still has in store for her and we're only 4 chapters in.
the story is long enough though for the reader to become immersed and since I'm partial to the author's style, I'm surely going to try and keep up with this work if, or when it continues.
all in all, I'd urge you to give this story a try. You'll know soon enough if you can find enjoyment in this particular piece and it'd be a shame to ignore one of the better written works on the website. Cheers.
