Dragonlife: From Hatchling to Sovereign [MONSTER POWER PROGRESSION]

Description
Strength. Power. Freedom. The monsters that the world knows as dragons are innately driven to seek these three things. Yet, these powerhouses which raze kingdoms, hoard treasure, kidnap princesses, and on occasion even raise armies, did not begin life with such power. Even their magic, whether that be fire breath, impervious scales, or other, more mysterious powers, were earned, and not given at birth. What is the life like, of such cunning, intelligent, ruthless (and don't forget prideful, vain, and overconfident) beasts?
Expect:
- Villainous dragon MCs.And Ireally domean villainous.I'm not promoting villainy of course, but I love reading and writing about interesting perspectives.
- Power progression requiring cunning, strategy, and a bit of luck. Think of it as an evil dragon's origin story.
- Each chapter will be 2k - 3k words long.
- I currently plan to write this as a 3 part story, with each part having 10 - 15 chapters (The book is nearly finished).
- Part 1 is from the POV of the dragon pictured on the cover, part 2 is about one of its siblings, and part 3 will switch between their perspectives every chapter or two. Why am I structuring the story like this? Because there's two different dragon "tropes" that tickled my creativity brain-bits. But don't worry, both are ruthless, power-hungry, giant, flying lizards.

- ASGDragonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an interesting story. Pure dragon POV (no reincarnated human). This means MC’s morality is different. Keep that in mind while you read. Story itself is alive and bursting with potential and has a good flow. I really like how MC treats his “servants”. Original ideas and concepts galore. Worth a read. Also weak to strong, think of it as Vainqueur but he starts out as a hatchling instead of the mighty wyrm he is.
- FairyPicklesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the format, especially how the author labels when the dragon learns something new as knowledge. He learns in a very relatable way, directly from his interactions with his world. Also, his mother fits very well with the description of sovereign monster in the title, at least in the hachling's eyes.
- KptnRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Synopsis: Absent mother leads to juvenile crime.
Bias: I honestly love non human POVs, with a bit of fondness for moral ambiguity. I also hate the system copout, that litRPGs are. As this has a well done dragon perspective, a villainous lead and no stats or anything, I am hugely biased.
Story: (Light spoilers from now on) Being the largest and strongest of his siblings, our newborn protagonist is thrown into the world, shortly after finally proving his dominance to the other young dragons. The gimmick? Dragons can die thrice and get a power connected to their cause of death. Afterwards, their skillset is somewhat final and death would simply result in death. I like the novel idea, not sure I believe it‘s the best one, as stories playing with resurrection have to be very careful with gravity, once a precedent is set.
The strength of this novel definitely is the dragon MC (at this stage only the Red Curse, his sister will follow). The character shines through greatly and we don‘t get the usual human in a dragon body, which I really like.
Unfortunately, the alien perspective damages the writing style somewhat. I believe this is a trade-off between the style and the alieness of our MC. There is also not so much story to be had, it reads like a slice of life from a malevolent flying overlord, many plotpoints are yet to be explored (white bird baby, weird sentient tree sack). You also just get some minor deus ex machina plotpoints like a magic absorbing necklace, found just before going to battle with magical elves. Don‘t get me wrong, I do not believe both aspects to be major detractors for reading enjoyment, but if you are sensitive to that, now you know.
The author has already said, that he will explore different POVs for book 2, not from the dragon perspective. This will be of great benefit to reading style and give a lot more information to the reader as the last two chapters for book 1 showed. It will however also eliminate the unique dragon perspective. I am lookin
