Description

Life has been unfair to him. Cursed since his youth, Richard has lived a rather poor life, confined to a temple knowing his time and reach is limited. When death comes for him, Richard accepts the ineveitable. But life has more in store for him. Reborn as a dragon hatchling alone in the mountains, Richard will have to use the system as best as he can and survive in his new body. What will he do with his life? What will he learn? I thought this would be a basic story with a dragon using a system to get strong. The problem is that with so many extra elements being involved, a lot of the fun that comes with progression gets excessively derailed. Also, it feels like the story made plot armor explicitly to allow the story to flow. I recommend revamping the system to make it more fair, or pan out the story more and focus on the details and explanations of the story in the story, not the author notes...

As far as style goes, it's written in the very basic descriptive style that you find in most web fiction these days, but this is not necessarily a bad thing here. It might lack a bit of flourish, but because of it the story gains a very pleasant clarity. The only thing I would like to see that is not there are more in depth descriptions of the environment around the protagonist. Often I found myself a bit confused as to where exactly things were in relation to each other and a bit more detail would help immersion as well!
It's worth highlighting that this story has very good pacing so far. It's right in the sweet spot between too fast for a satisfying progression, and too slow to keep my attention! The world seems thought out well enough and that helps the story feel grounded, because a lot of what happens feels like a logical effect of interacting with said world. Too often I read stories where the world is simply an inert backdrop. Not here! Also, the story doesn't wait too long to introduce characters other than the protagonist, which is a relief as I was not looking forward to a 300 page lonely training sequence filled with only combat and pages filled with skill descriptions like you see in ''reincarnated as a monster'' litRPGs way too often. One last thing I'll mention about the story is that the ''system'' is generally very well done. It has enough depth and impact on the world that it doesn't feel unnecessarily tacked on to the story but so far it hasn't become so convoluted that I can't bring myself to understand it (which happens way too often for me when reading litRPGs).
Sadly, the biggest negative point of this fiction is the grammar. It really needs a round of editing. By no means is it unreadable or harder to understand because of it, but there are enough typos, mistakes and repeated words that for

First I am gonna say this. The story is pretty good. I enjoyed reading it and the MC isn't stupidly fast at getting stronger but isn't stupidly slow either. I enjoy the characters characterization. They don't do stupid stuff like put points into the wrong thing or ignore stuff that would be usefull.
Lets step into what I don't like.
The System:
The system is a bit weird. The stats you see don't seemingly mean anything as far as I can tell. There isn't a lot of different stats either there is like 3 stats in total other than HP and mana.
The system also has additions that don't really make sense for it to have. Why does it have a gatcha and a Store system? I suppose you can say it has those just for plot conveniance as the MCs "familiars" are obtained from the Gatcha.
The Characters:
Now I won't lie I enjoy the characters that are in the story problem is they all seem broken strong. We have the MC a Dragon that seems fairly balanced all things considered.
We have his Familiars which are really the things that are kinda crazy. 1. A demigod squirrel that when he is introduced looks to be stronger than the MC. 2. A Octopus that can breath air and can use the move Flash from pokemon. 3. A tick that drinks the MCs blood to grant the MC strenght.
Now you might think they arn't that bad other than possibly the squirrel. this is just their first appearance. The squirrel just gets stronger as it levels. The Octopus begins to use Xianxia Cultivation which is kinda outta left field not gonna lie didn't expect that to show up in a High fantasy medieval European setting and the Tick evolves into a Beetle that turns into a Japanese Style Magical Girl set of armor that has the MC call out random stupid words to transform into either a Bulky set of armor or a Speedy set of armor... For a dragon.
Of the 3 the squirrel is Ok and I like it. The Octopus is kinda weird in that we randomly get Xianxia stuff in the story. The Beetle though is just really stupid. The dragon didn't need arm

Story and writing is good, the notes after each chapter are too long though and would be nice to see them under a spoiler tag to cut out scrolling past notes on mobile making getting to the next chapter a pain.
I wish royalroad would let a review have 30 words instead of 50 as well.
