Twice Reborn Transmigrator (Old)

Description
My name is Lord Gabriel Sturm, First Son of House Sturm and a prodigy when it came to magic. Born into a noble family of wizards, I wanted for nothing, living a life of wealth and privilege. I treated my family and equals with dignity and respect, while I treated those I viewed as below me with contempt and disdain.
In short, I was a spoiled rich asshole who needed to be knocked down a peg or two.
Well, that certainly happened when I picked a fight with the wrong person and died. It only lasted for a brief moment, but it happened. When I came back, I was a cripple with broken magic, a disappointment to my family, and a social outcast.
None of that mattered, however, because when I died, I recovered the memories of my previous two lives.
In the first, I was Brandon Norwood, a high schooler who died too young in a car accident. I was nothing special, just an average kid from a middle class American family.
However, in my life before that, I was Immortal Celestial Thunder, one of the most powerful beings in a world of cultivators, spirit beasts, and demons.
With the knowledge and memories of my previous two lives, I will once again defy the heavens and walk the path towards immortality. Who cared if I was a social outcast and a cripple with broken magic? I was a reincarnated Immortal. What would be an insurmountable obstacle for most was simply challenge mode for me. In fact, I preferred it this way. After all, it would be boring if things were too easy.
AN:I've been asked about this before, so I figured I should let everyone know about my plans for TRT. First of all, it's on hiatus. I haven't dropped it. I plan on getting back to it. Similar to Fist of the Fire God (now Demon of Dawn and Dusk), I'm going to rewrite TRT from the very beginning. However, this won't be for a while yet. I hope that answers everyone's questions.

- Beaste01Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very good series. It provides a fresh take on well established tropes and provides an mc with an interesting past(s) and an intriguing future. It does rattle along at a fair pace and if I had a criticism that would be it. The writing, characters and plot are good enough for us to stop and smell the roses every so often rather than rushing immediately into the next crisis. Love the reappearance of the MCs nemesis from the prologue and interested to see where it goes next. Thanks to the author for such an entertaining read.
- Drake_EURoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is like in the title advertised an isekai (reincarnation story), meaning the mc had an „accident“ and remembers now his past two lives.
The story combines wizardry and cultivation though until now (chapter 65) there wasn‘t that much wizardry from the mc, but more cultivation instead.
There is no harembuilding but an epic lovestory and that is pretty refreshing in this genre.
The mc is arrogant but not the typical loudmouth 😉 young master from Xianxia stories.
In my opinion it is one of the best stories currently available on royalroad. On the same level as „Path of the berserker“ or „Awakening Horde“ to mention 2 of my other favorites.
Well, i wanted to finish this review here, but royalroad informed me, that i needed at least 200 words for an advanced review and i‘m too lazy to change it to a normal one. So i will wring my brain for some more complete and informative sentences.
While i like the story very much i would prefer if the author would integrate some more technicalities to his description of the (first) casting of the cultivation techniques or wizardry spells. If that is via runes or meridianpoints or another method. In my opinion it would help to enliven the world building. - SK_BearerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5TL/DR: Starts out good, slightly shallow characters with good world building, smoothly and quickly builds up a level of depth with characters you will become greatly attached to. Give this a big Follow and a read!
Grammar has enough minor mistakes that you notice it, but rarely more than 1-3 per chapter and they are swiftly caught. None are such that you can't figure out the correct sentence or a reasonably correct sentence and they are almost entirely word swaps. Does not detract from the reading at all.
Style is evolving, I think. The story starts out with a bit of a hard shift for the sake of establishing the setting but does so in a way that feels somewhat convenient and contrived. The style is not totally inconsistent even at the later stage of this review, however, it has definitely improved. The feel of the world, the feel of where the story will go, have all changed subtly but in truth and I don't think it was crafted intentionally that way, thus the 1 star ding on this. Overall though you will not be bothered by the style shift and it genuinely improves from an already very readable starting point.
Story, similarly to style, builds from a less sophisticated start to a better one later on. Beyond that improvement though, there is still space for this one to grow in depth and complexity. The author is juggling quite a few characters now and doing a solid job of it, but the pacing and rate of reveals still leaves the long term vision hard to see and the eventual nature of the story somewhat difficult to grasp. I think it started out as a bit of an OP-MC speedrun cultivation epic and has become almost a Cozy + Violent adventure story? Some of the hard introductions of romance elements will give you slight pause. They are absurdly wholesome, which I massively support, as raunch and disrespectful, unhealthy relationships abound far, far too much in RR and Amazon KU novels. Despite the positives though, they don't feel really natural to myself as someone who lives - cadambankRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story is good and characters are compelling. Release cycle is also consistent
I understand the reason MC said about adopting the outlook of a young adult rather than an old Cultivator, excluding lifetime length, two thirds of his reincarnations pretty much essentially died as teenagers and the second reason "first love". Third reason would be his actual body age, as hormones are a big factor in emotions.
But, that doesn't discount his experiences.
This note I wrote to refute another reviewers argument
The story is surprisingly real and not a cold like most xianxia. There is a touch of life in it but not to the extent of fluff and does include a lot of cultivation elements emotion wise.
Looking forward to see further MC shenanigans. - ClockworkRoseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Starts out fairly generic, but soon develops into a unique plot. The first dozen or so chapters are a big standard power fantasy, but it takes several turns that are unusual. The MC doesn't abandon his family, and works to raise them up with him. It's more apparent as the story goes on that he is more fallible than he thinks he is.
They did eventually add a romance tag. The story deserves that for sure. - PenguinKillsRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall I would say that while this story has its flaws(as every story does) it still ends up being one of the better ones I’ve read. While the previous two lives that the MC has does seem kind of forced if you can overlook that it turns out to be a great story.
It has that medieval fantasy feel with the Houses and family power with magic and wizards mixed with an Immortal cultivator MC who starts his grind to Immortality.
It also has a hint of mystery with the MC trying to figure out who is pulling the strings behind the scenes but that isn’t the main point of this story. It has good power progression, no system that makes the MC OP as soon as he arrives. AND my favorite thing about this story is it gets rid of the horrendous “you dare!”s and “your courting death” that plague this genre.
The only bad thing that I will say is that the MC’s family name bothers me to no end. WHY IN ALL CREATION IS IT STURM. Oh my ever loving Christ just make it Storm. What insane thought made you want to put a u in there. The family are storm mages decedent from and storm dragon but their name is STURM.
If you couldn’t tell I feel very passionately about it. - PatternRoyal Road★★★ 3.0...to write something else, please consider the following.
Why do you need your MC to be a young master? Why not let them start at the lowest wrung of society and allow your audience to watch as they earn everything?
More male characters. This young master thing taints genuine male friendships from forming. Which is a pattern in all your works.
Flash backs and innermonologue do more harm than good. Focus on what your character is doing and how they do it.
While lightning is better than fire, if you have a transmigrator as an MC, why not write about something far more esoteric that takes advantage of the MCs experiences?
I didn't hate this story, some of the magic system is good, but the young master pining for that one girl already felt tedious and poorly paced.
God luck next time. - StratoJunonRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I was really enjoying this story. Had funny moments. interesting moments. character banter. Nice power system. Then suddenly at chapter 90 a character is suddenly revealed as being completely psychotic. No hinting at it before. No explanation. MC just accepts it and says they're just as crazy. We're supposed to like this character. The entire chapter felt like a 13 year old being edgy. 14 chapters later the story goes on hiatus. Very much unfinished. I implore the author to rewrite from chapter 89 when or if they rerun to the series.
- novatempestRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I can no longer enjoy the MC.
1.Instead of a blend of his 3 incarnations he randomly jumps between them.
2.For being a thousand year old immortal and learning his lesson about consequences, he has not.
3.His Kink is spread though out the story as soon as it was introduced. If it was limited to the LEMONS it would be fine, but the story is constantly sprinkled with "step on me mommy" content. - lenkiteRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The blurb unfortunately is deeply misleading. You think you are getting the story of a cool, reincarnated immortal with millennia of experience. What you are TRULY getting is the story of an infatuated, high-school teenager still hung up on his high-school Earth GF despite living for 16 years in a new life and gaining the memories of millennia of experience as an immortal. The extensive memories "nearly destroyed his mind" in the download, yet never truly improves his logical reasoning skills.
MC continously and unfortunately makes decisions that no reincarnated immortal would make. He is apparently perfect in combat, cultivation and crafting yet forgets basic wisdom when interacting with women or even in taking care of his duties. He unfortunately behaves like a hormone obessed teenager when interacting with girls, blindly agrees to giving favours when girls "plead" with him, gives his sworn oath at the drop of a hat, yet somehow forgets his sworn oath, etc - he is basically a teenager in all the ways that truly matter.
YA fantasy romance should be tagged as such so that folks can know what they are getting into and don't have to read dozens of chapters to realize the same.
