- dennybennisRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Pretty straightforward and gets where it needs to go with no glaring mistakes along the way. The writing style is OK. It does the job. I do wish there was more personality to some of the sentences though, such as "Oh no, what should I do?" and "They eagerly awaited the arrival of their favorite part of the day—PT period, a time for play and laughter," which just seem to fall flat. I appreciate that the tragedy feels inevitable from the start, which adds a sort of hopeless element to the story that compliments the actual horror. I also appreciate that there seems to be no hold barred on the description of the horrific event as well, which stands in striking contrast to the rest of the prose.
Overall, does what it sets out to do, but could benefit from more personality & style.
