Break the Baseline. Break the Limits.

Once upon a time, a mageblade-in-training lost his best friend. His soul refused to let her go, and his unformed soulspell developed the ability to revert the timeline to the week before her death. It wasn't enough. No matter what he did, said, or tried, her death was set in stone. He was too poor, too weak, too powerless.

Some things even perfection cannot accomplish. So he moved forward, over and over again. Saved the world a few times. Refined himself into a power few could match.

Yet the moment he reverted, he'd be trapped in the same powerless, ineffective body he'd started out with. Never enough. Nothing ever changed.

Until now.

What to Expect?:

- Overpowered Magic Sword as the catalyst for change

- Slow build power progression

- Unique Fantasy World

- Driven MC, slightly insane

I had enjoyed the original arc of the story but I couldn't really connect with the characters after. When I saw the author was attempting the re-write, I decided to give it another try. I loved the concept and I really wanted to give the story a chance. This far into I believe the character is much improved and I can see a different dynamic that is going forward.

I've read a lot of time loops here on RR. This includes the author's previous version of this story, Maelstrom. I quite liked that one too, but I'd always felt there was something missing, you know? Some small part of my heart that yearned for something more. That was why Maelstrom was not in the top of the list of my favorites - though, to be fair, I don't usually add anything to that list easily in the first place, so go check Maelstrom out too - it's more a matter of personal preferences that made me not put it all the way in the top of that list. Otherwise, by all means, that story is amazing. Prose, grammar, story, characterization... I don't remember a single time I saw anything beyond a casual grammar error, something like a full stop missing, which was promptly fixed as soon as a comment pointed it out.
And that dedication and commitment the author has to detail and quality shows up in this story too. The initial quotes they add in, the custom line break, oh, it's just chef's kiss. The story itself is even better than Maelstrom (by my subjective taste and preferences), the author has added and expanded exactly what I had never known I'd wanted when I was reading Maelstrom. Raina is beyond cute. Jair is his usual insane and fun self, though, as usual, he has my endless sympathy, and the author has taken the time to expand on stuff now. On Jair, his actions, his relationship to Raina... Just. Read it.
Read it right now. You won't regret it, I promise you.

I like the changes, and feel it's a better story but also feel the best friend is now too accepting of the situation without problems.
Do feel the main character is better developed and the pacing of the story, although somewhat slow is significantly better, and started in a better place.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a sucker for time loop stories right now.  And this story has scratched the itch in a fantastic way.  From starting at the end of one story and working through it's been a wild tale and I'm so happy that the final book is starting and can't wait to see what happens next.

I really appreciate a timeloop where the MC isn't allowed to cheat by carrying their power back with them. Pure knowledge & have to retrain everything each time.
I've not read the original, but this rewrite appears to be of very high quality. Good grammar, good story pace and plenty of detail without drowning in it.
    Keep up the good work!

I wake up excited to read this novel, if it was published in its fullness I would binge it with out hesitation. Please at least check it out, the world drips with character and though, its so clear that a bunch of time has gone into making it, its very good.

Overall, this novel so far is great and was enjoyable to read. I love time loop stories but rarely do I review. This story has a good basis on how to go about time loops whilst keeping the reader entertained. The synopsis that the author prefaces the book with is a bit misleading but the book is so good that I expect it to be more accurate by the end of the series. Pacing was fine if not good considering the volatility of time loop stories. Hidden gem so far needing a tad bit of polish.
Most issues people find with this novel are about what is not told to the reader because the author is avoiding info dumps or missing world building. I believe that most of the omitted information is because when you start adding information dumps for an individual with years of age in the thousands, it will get a bit bland. Taking everything as they go in subsections and introducing them when they occur is better for the reader, Especially considering that the timeline will fluctuate from baseline. The author even tries to curb this with small passages at the beginning of the chapters, perhaps they could input an interlude here and there giving the book the world building it needs while keeping the main attention of those who dislike world building. Maybe also consider passages of past lifetimes as a diary or books from other loops as small nods to details on the world and hints into our MC’s thought process would do wonders. If I had to tell the author one thing to not mess up
Please do not destroy what you have currently by messing up his time loop ability by making it have a limit in any sort more than the base the story started with.

Returned to the story for book two after a nearly two month gap in updates. I enjoyed book one, but whatever was good in book one can't overcome Jair's dialogue in book two. It's some mix of formal and overly wordy that is incredibly unnatural.
I don't remember if book one was just good enough storytelling to ignore it, or if it got worse in book two since he's not solo. Finally, its not that the author can't write dialogue. Everyone else is written fine, but there is a very odd choice for the main character. Overall it's disrupting enough that this isn't a story I'll continue to read.

It was a great start, and I liked the changes from the original, especially the ordinary divergence point. It was nice to have a more monster hunting focused section rather than the repeatedly failed heist. I feel like there was a major plot skip when he
integrates maelstrom . It feels like he was setting up for some epic adventures, then skips all of them for some convoluted mechanic that doesn't really fit in, which also seems to break Jair mentally.

There's some solid stuff in here, but the world building is unforgivably atrocious.
Close to 200 chapters in, I still don't understand even one of the aspects of the setting.
Naturalistic exposition is hard. Don't fail at it. I would prefer clunky and blatant exposition because at least I would understand what was going on and what the rules are.
