- Ensii99Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5If you could read through the grueling three chapters of prolugue you'd find a good story with descent plot and crisis.
MC is on the dumb side and a little selfish but that helps the story somehow. Because it's different.
I gave this story 4 star I'd rate it higher if not for those horrible prologue. So buried gem. - FirnielRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It’s just too short, each chapter I mean. Not sure if it’s the word count, the spacing, or something else but each chapter just seems too short. Don’t get me wrong, the writing and pacing is phenomenal. The world building is utterly sublime and is leagues beyond any of my own. It’s just the fact that the chapters are too short that bugs me. But this works to the story’s advantage and makes me want to read more. So bravo on the writers part!
- WilmaZhuoLiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Hello, I will review the Tale of Mysteria by Pixxie
What’s The Story?
Basically an isekai story. I have read the first part, which is the prologue of 6 chapters, which describes the main character's reincarnation situation. I can only say, I feel sorry for him, I’ll explain in the section below of this review. Then the second we got our first view of his new world, and he’s not reincarnated with some kind of cheat ability like most typical popular isekai stories these days. And worst part, his new identity in the new world is also described as ‘being poor’. I would expect him to use his brain a lot for dealing with his new situation.
What’s interesting about this story?
The immersion from the main protagonist is remarkable. After I finished reading the first chapter, which is the 6 part prologue, I can't help but sympathize with him. In short, his life really sucks. And as once a teenager, i can empathize his feeling of being trapped and want to run away but unable due to his toxic parent. The prologue doesn’t delve much about the reasons of his ‘tormentors’ and I think it’s understandable from 18 years old perspective, as the story using first person view, so we don’t see much explanation (which is justified in this case).
Moving to the second chapter, the protagonist learns the harshness of the new world: being poor, being hated, no job, no hope. Until he met a certain old guy who became his first friend. Realizing the hardship of the new world, somehow the protagonist feels his old life was much better. Then desperate by his hunger, Mike stole the kebabs, chased by guards, and got helped again by the old guy. It’s interesting that we slowly will label Mike as a thief from now on from his way of thinking, driven by his need to survive.
World building is slowly built by the dialogue of the characters, and narrative about sequence and the environment.
What could be improved:
All looks good. I can’t find anything else to comment on now, so I’ll wait for a future relea - Frankie ChengRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0We met our unfortunate MC in a place where you could get killed any time, and he has to deal with a terrible job so that he doesn't fall into poverty and die.
Then he isekai's into another world where he could get killed any time, and he has no job, so he's fallen into poverty and might die.
I feel bad for this guy. Good luck, MC.
