The steppe provinces gather under the specter of war. Alize must judge her choices, and allies, by the concessions they wish to draw from her. And while she rallies the world around the Ginmae prince, Alize conceals a terrible secret: she had not been able to save him. If the Hrumi, the Sargons, and all the people are going to survive, they will have to build their own heroes before they discover Alize's rouse.
