Description

Burn the witch? Good luck. Hecate has never done anything wrong in her entire life. Sure, she was supposed to pick the same class as her mother. Obey the rules. Keep her head down. So what if she picked [Gunwitch] instead. So what if she shot the Archon’s son. Totally undeserved, they threw her into Silesia—a place where they burn witches. But Hecate is no regular witch. She has two guns, magic bullets, and nothing left to lose. Every head she claims only adds to her power. How long until she’s unstoppable? What to expect: * Very strong MC (and maybe slightly unhinged)* Ups and downs* LitRPG progression & level-up mechanics* Community-building* Loot system inspired by Diablo II: LOD (runewords included)* New chapters every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Patreon- if you want to read 24 chapters (6 weeks) ahead + Patreon exclusive chapter.Discord- if you feel like talking about it.

Really cool story with some clear inspirations and a very likeable though humorously weired MC!
I like the world we've seen so far and the characters are well made thus far.
The world has some clear inspiration in Ancient Greece combined with guns, magic and a system. Surprisingly those all fit very well together. Give it a read the first ~10 chapters give you a real good feeling for the characters and the style! Not just the MC but side characters as well get fleshed out quite a bit and gain more agency over time.
The writing style seems a bit jumpy in the first few chapters but finds it's way during the first book.
I'm exited to see how the power progression will continue as the MC seems to be quite powerful already. We haven't seen to strong of an oponent yet so maybe everyone will be more powerful or the story will focus on charming stomps and have tis focus away from combat. Both seem fine at this point. Fights are quite entertaining and though most are easy wins it is still both entertaining and captivating!

This story is so much fun! I went looking for LitRPG witch stories on RR for research and found this. I binged it all and am so sad to have to wait for new chapters. The characters are very interesting. Hecate is wonderfully chaotic and fun. At first...her actions may sometimes seem wild or unexpected but as you keep going and learn more about her philosophy and experience the craziness that us her life you can sort of predict her actions. Sorta. There is also room for growth it just seems to be a bit slower for her. But that's okay bc the world is out to get her so she absolutely has to stay strong. And it's not just the MC the other characters feel fully fleshed out and vibrant as well. The story is highly entertaining and the author does a good job delivering stakes and managing tension all while driving the curiosity so you just wanna read more and find out what happens next. The style is great it's written with a comedic slant with puns and jokes and has genuinely made me laugh. The System is very interesting as well more stats lite or LitRPG lite but enough is there that it satisfies my LitRPG wants. It also does a good job of hooking up the progression beats with the story beats I like that.It is usually one pov the main character Hecate who is so cool but EVERY once in a while you get an alt POV to give the reader info character doesn't know or see things "off screen" from the character and those are perfectly delivered and not overly done.Grammar and spelling is great I havent seen any major issues and if there are small ones it doesn't take away from the story I'm having a great time and can't wait to read more!!

    Ahhhhh!
This was so funny. I was giggling nearly every chapter. The author has such a strong voice and the main character is an absolute lunatic (in a fun way).
I have no issues with the plot or the cast or anything. Every chapter seems to surprise you (with antics), and even when the MC is being stupid it's not, like, a miserable stupid.
It's just really fun and enjoyable and I binged all of it in like 1 day. I need help. It seems a lot of people in the reviews didn't mesh with the humor so maybe I'm like stupid and immature for liking it but it was great!!!
There's no remorse for murder though or at least not enough, the chatacter kind of just wants to shoot first and question later . . . but those people were bad. The plot gets dark sometimes but there is so much humor that it's, like, the darkness is so diluted it doesn't really matter? Idk. It's mainly the beginning and then the fact the Church is a massively horrible institution that stinks. The story is definitely more light than dark despite the circumstances.

Hecate, the main character, is a self absorbed oblivious teen-ager who is a human train wreck, and yet is still as best as she is able to be, a kind person. The power system is clearly broken in favour of her becoming a murder hobo, and yet in still cheering for her.

I am having an absolute hoot with this one. Given how heavy it starts out, this might throw you off. Hecate often feels so disjointed from the rest of the people around her that it really just is hilarious. From
explicitly saying that it's okay to kill things because they are ugly, to taking the expression "giving someone a hand" far, far too literally,
her perpendicularity to the world around her seldom fails to amuse.
The absurdism here is different that that which you might find in Monty Python, so it isn't a "if you like A then you'll enjoy B" but there's a real solid chance you will.
A bit closer to 'Everything Everywhere All At Once', where the serious is made silly and the silly is taken absolutely seriously.

The title of this review is true but not the way you think.
    This bish is crazy
    Certified murder hobo
    And I love it.
The author does a wonderful job of keeping things internally consistent but there's a beautiful lack of regard for what normal people would expect.
Oh and there's a cat named Mephistopheles who's a little chaos goblin.
    Just fucken read it man

I think this is the best version of a chaotic evil protagonist I've read recently. She is willing to lie, cheat, and steal, but will convince herself that she isn't doing anything wrong and it is necessary so it shouldn't count.
She's not actively trying to do evil and is in fact trying to do good, even if it's just because it aligns with her goals. But her methods are outside of society (for good reason) and do not take others into consideration. She takes down the bullies because their actions bother her, but in taking down the bullies she traumatizes the victims as well.
She's quite a fun character to read and a true agent of chaos who embodies the fake it til you make it mentality.

Gunwitch starts out strong, and if had continued in the same vein this would be a five-star review.
Unfortunately, about the time the setup is finished and the real story begins, with the exile to Silesia, things go rather off the rails.
The MC becomes a narcissistic sociopath, and the story falls into absurdist territory like a rock.
If the absurdist comedy appeals to you, you'll probably continue to enjoy the story as it moves forward. For me, the characters, world, and comedy felt more and more forced, to the point that it lost the original charm and interest.
I'd love to read about the character(s) from the start of the story, but we lost them along the way, unfortunately.

Formulaic fantasy. FMC can't accept being wrong and is basically if Jason from HWFWM got gender bent. Somehow escapes danger through sheer incompetence on both sides. Tropes for days with modern day references galore. Literally kills the interesting fantasy vibes and i know. Everything in the story is already based on real world places or folklore, but COME ON. This story is so close to being something actually original and interesting. But it falls into the same tropes found in all modern litRPG stories. Like a copy paste of what came before. Drop the modern slang/pop culture references. Dial down the "I'm too awesome and great" attitude or at the least I hope the author really slams home that she NEEDS to be actually smart rather than another Netflix FMC...There needs to be actual character growth. She loses her best friend and the take away is "I should comemorate him with a skill based on his final words"!?!?!? I'm sorry. I can't keep going. Best luck to you
