Description
He didn't expect to be summoned, but he brought the horsepower to push through any challenge. One moment David is in his brand-new tractor heading to do some planting, the next he drives through a portal into an idyllic frontier homestead, perfect for starting a new farm. Fortunately for David, the homestead already has a cabin. Sure, there are squatters, and he’s going to have to adjust to a world with magic and a System, but he’s the only one with a massive 600 horsepower New Holland T9 Quadtrac tractor! But even with modern tech in an 1800s otherworld, not everything’s coming up roses. He'll have to figure out what to do with his unexpected guests, set up a thriving farm, deal with politics, and adjust to his new guard… rabbits?Oh, and also figure out how he will get fuel for that 600 horsepower tractor... Armed with his tractor, a lifetime spent farming, as well as a System controlled almanac that helps explain his new world, he is going to do his best to make his new homestead thrive. ------------------------------------------------ Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday after first month. The entire first book is completed. 10 - 20 Chapters ahead on my Patreon. What to expect: There will be cultivation, just not the kind most people would expect. Plenty of plants being cultivated though! The book is a slow burn Slice of Life homestead builder. Book 1 will focus on building up a homestead. At its core this book is about building relationships and farming. No harem or funny business. There will be a single romantic interest that will develop over the course of the entire first book.

really looking forward to where this story goes. Who knew potatoes could be so important?
for anyone looking for something super interesting, where a main character goes from nothing to what I hope is power, thanks to the power of diesel, this is a fun read. - Justin MarksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This has some cool ideas, and it feels like the author knows their stuff. I gloss over some of the technical stuff, but having it there makes it feel more grounded. Some good story and enough plot points to feel fun while keeping the cozy vibe. Feels like a lighter system so far, but it's been logical as it gets rolled out. Looking forward to following along.
- Nicholas W FullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is so captivating in really unexpected ways. I'm 17 chapters in and there hasn't been a violent fight or brave heroics, and yet, it's really got my attention.
Have you ever stumbled on the Survival Builder channel on YouTube? They make amazing dwellings in the middle of the jungle and you can't look away while the video shows them working because it's just amazing seeing it all come together.
That's what this story is like. Every chapter, something is coming together. Every chapter there's progress even if there's little discussion of stats or xp. Every chapter of Homesteader's Almanac shows the MC growing and progressing his homestead.
If you're looking for a cozy progression that feels a bit different from a lot of other stories, give this one a read! - TrundleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Do I know anything about farming? No. Do I care about farming? No. Do I care about this story? Yes.
If you, like me, don't know what a potato planter looks like, fear not. This story IS still for you!
It is cosy, feel good, and the author's farming knowledge comes through loud and clear, without feeling too much like you are reading a tractor manual.
The MC is likeable, capable and has that 'all round good bloke' energy.
Emily and Colin are endearing side characters, although I feel like maybe Emily purses her lips too much. I know it's a character quirk, but it bothers me a little. Colin can keep scuffing his boots all he wants, the lil scamp.
Will the potato crops yield as planned? Will the Bishop find a way to ruin their lives? Will the Dwarven Rabbits eat something (or one) they shouldn't? Personally, I can't wait to find out! - softcorebashRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR; A little bit of isekai into how to build a farm*. Cozy, slow-paced, and introspective with a found family. There "might" be some romance, but it's still way too early. Which is a good thing. We learn the system as the MC learns the system and while he isn't a newbie with system prompts, he's not cheating the system through random loopholes*. Everything feels planned.
*The asterisk is here to denote the presence of exploits in an antiquated system when tackled with slightly modern solutions the 1.0 devs could never dream of as they were alive a couple lifetimes ago. That said, these are not really exploits that instantly let him win, as he still has to wait for them to bear fruit (in this case, vegetables) and put in hard work in other areas. Modern solutions to problems already solved in modern times. However, that does not mean every modern solution actually works well or they don't come with their own issues.
Wait, that was the entire review! Oh no!
Guess you don't have to read more of this review. If any of that piqued your interest, you should probably read this! If you need convincing, there's a bit of grief mixed in, but otherwise, it's more of a "old hand in a new place" type of story and it's genuinely interesting to learn about how things are done on a farm, in a way. The style is clean that certain concepts of farming aren't too unfathomable to imagine if one has seen a modern farm sprawled out over acres but never saw any of the little bits and bobs of work (and if you haven't I would suggest looking on Google for some farm pics, doesn't capture the same majesty, or the vastness, or the sheer uniformity of it, or the utter lack of anything unless there's a cow, but it helps, kinda). Be forewarned though! The MC has a modern mindset and is hopefully going to change the modern-to-this-plane-of-existence peoples' mindsets in ways that help their own character bloom. But we haven't reached there yet! - RunegamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I saw this story in a shout, and decided to give it a crack, it's refreshing to be reading a cosy farming story, who clearly has real life knowledge of the farm without it coming across as overwhelming, fantastic story, and I can't wait to read more! Keep it up.
- RoldmkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This has been a fun story so far. Not the typical overpowered MC with pages of stats constantly going up. It has been fun to think of modern farming equipment in a medieval world. Will be curious how author makes it make sense but for now enjoying the ride. Good humor and slice of life.
- yeetmanRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Truthfully I’m not sure how this is rated so high. The writing is robotic, the premise is absurd (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing), and the dialogue is difficult as hell to sit through.
guy is given several million dollars worth of equipment but no land and is salty about it, okay, sure. Guy finds himself in new land with a woman and child set to conveniently replace his wife he apparently parted negatively with before and the child he was never able to have? Ok, sure, that’s super weird but go off I guess.
everything I’ve read so far is extremely black and white. There is no nuance to motivation - it’s written out clearly on the page. There is no nuance to dialogue - it’s spelled out by the author after it’s said, explained like the audience is too stupid to understand the dialogue itself. Just let it simmer, man. Have them say something and then move on. You don’t have to explain everything to us.
