Description
First they ran from death. Now they run from him. Summoned to another world by an ancient lich, Asher is surprised to find there is one type of dead body his training as a mortician’s apprentice didn’t prepare him for. Not exactly a fan of being held captive by the dead any more than he enjoyed being held past closing time for them, Asher decides to use his newfound dimensional abilities to see himself out. Only after stealing the culmination of a few centuries worth of illegal magical experimentation of course. In a world where resurrection magic means death is more of a suggestion for the upper class than the rule, Asher eventually discovers his stolen power is capable of ensuring anything that dies by his hand, staysdead. For some reason, a lot of very powerful people find this rather upsetting. An ancient cabal of forgotten liches. The elite organization of noble truthseekers. Even the kingdom’s famous assassin’s guild. It seems just about anyone who deals in death wants to claim his mysterious power for themselves, and most of them will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Not unless Asher can get to them first. - PaxondraxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Despite seeing lot's of assassin type stories this one is somehow more appealing than most and although there are some cliches (noble extorting the fem lead and mc being unnecessarily generous and kind) it's overall a good story that promises some epic adventures along the way. Also big thumbs up for an MC that enjoys battles against strong enemies I always like heroes that are at least partially battle maniacs. Keep up the good work.
- Joe WhoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As you can see in the title, I firmly believe this is an incredible story, despite the comparatively small chapter count compared to some of the monsters on this website. The power system is very interesting, with no stats or constant power ups - Asher has to work, and often suffer, for every last skill level he gains. Also, recently it was hinted that there are deeper divisions of power within the system, but I won't say any more than that. The MC, Asher, immediately distinguishes himself as such - he is, admittedly, a murderhobo at times, however he still is an enjoyable character who recognises his own flaws and grows over the course of the story. Every other character, big or small, has depth and feels distinct, not just cut and pasted NPCs, and there are no meaningless words - if you notice something, it'll appear later. The plot and ending of book 1, which has just finished at my time of writing this, is incredible, and while it finishes in a very satisfying manner, there are still a myriad mysteries left to be discovered. The grammar is consistently perfect or nearly so - I rarely notice anything, and if I point it out, Mr Dude fixes it often even within a few minutes. Which brings me onto my final point. The author himself. He is consistently an all round nice guy, answering questions and taking constructive criticism very well, as well as any of the few corrections which need doing, and even going as far as to recognise the people who consistently comment on his chapters. Can't recommend highly enough, and if you like this, his other story, Explorer of Edregon, is also great and has a review from me as well if you'd like more information. Toodle pip, tally ho, and as always, ALL HAIL REGINALD!
- Haz3Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0To begin. This doesn't feel like an isekai at all, the isekai more of a means to give him his power in a logical fashion . His old world has little do with things, his memories don't matter much, and overall... I don't care about his old life. Hell neither does he, which is such a refreshing change, because GOD is he living it up.It's a multi-realm fantasy with intricate depths and high power scaling. Our mc, originally from earth, is summoned into this world with nothing to his name besides a very strong skill and a little bit of spite. The power system is certainly unique, with him stumbling into a powerful set of skills and powers that get him onto half the worlds radar. He's by no means the only strong person however, as we're introduced to beings, humans or otherwise, with some equally terrifying and destructive talents through the system they all possess. Elements are bought, found or scavenged, and the range of options are limitless for his potential enemies and allies alike. The world building is brilliant, and the power system inherently diverse and strong. The characters. Our main cast is loveable (most of the time, looking at you M), with realistic conversations and interaction. Nothing feels inauthentic, the dynamics are tangible and relatable, and there's sprinkles of humour throughout that keeps the story edged with a light hearted frame. It's a fun read, with no flaws I can really see or inadequacies that may let it down. It's frankly addictive, the pacing allowing the whole story to flow into one giant chapter that feels like it never truly has breaks or slow points to disrupt its flow. It's fantastically written, and the author clearly has their fun in writing it
- NiheelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I especially like the balance the Author strikes between action/fighting and actual romance between a fresh couple. The power system is interesting and unique, altough I find the use of money to level up to be a strange choice it doesn't interferre with my enjoyment reading this novel- Overall I really like it.
- AobasuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As the title says, this story is off to a great start. A good premise and a good setup for the MC. The magic system is pretty interesting.I am looking forward to seeing where it goes. If it is anything like the author's other story, it will be a worthwhile read.
- Gonetobed17Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like what the author is doing also I can honestly say I've enjoyed it a lot. The main character is compelling with an actual storie behind him that makes the plot interesting. Also the pacing of the book is decent and overall I'd say to give it a read.
- Bergster91Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Character is appealing! The world building is quite interesting, and I am looking forward to learning more. The LITrpg elements are standard with some unique takes! Looking forward to the story!
Grammer is well thought through and little to no errors. I think the author is capable of describing some elements a little further though. - El JavichRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I feel bad that I am only now getting around to leaving a review, but that is just how into this series I was. I have burned through over 120 chapters in about 2 weeks because ive enjoyed the story so well. There are of course a few rough spots here or there, but I think the author has made a lot of changes in earlier chapters, so I probably missed the worst of it. A solid showing overall though, pretty decent pacing, a unique element system with a lot of potential to broaden the story, and a fair balance in terms of action:interpersonal:exposition.
I know this series is pretty well read, but I have mostly been just navigating through author recommendations, so I would have missed this is Christopher Vincent hadn't pushed it twice. Im super glad he did.
Thanks for the good reads so far, I look forward to seeing where it goes. - GNDerOd1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked the story as a whole, it was easy to get into, and the author is clearly a very nice and hardworking person! The system is very well indepth explained, and the characters are not one dimensional, the power system is very nice as well! Overall, the book so far has been off to a strong start, and with the authors previous works, I can tell that this journey will be a very fun one
- Stoner BobRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Have to say this is definitely a slow burn but I am definitely enjoying how the story is progressing so far. Look forward to reading more of it.
MC is certainly growing on me I actually found him a little annoying in the first few chapters but the last couple of chapters he has improved.
