Description

Jailed for their misdeeds, Deatt and Nido find themselves in solitary confinement. Locked away from his prior life, Deatt rots in a cell, desperately trying to find a way to escape. Unaware of the wound the world has suffered in his absence, Deatt finally manages to succeed. Only to gaze at a world that he doesn't fully recognize.

His hopes of returning to his life as a thief slowly mold into a singular goal: endure. Broken, much like the rest, he is forced to form alliances and make decisions he would otherwise never have made.

His worsening condition forces him to become a pawn in a game he was never meant to be a part of. Throwing him into doubts whether he would survive at all, and if he did, whether he would emerge the same man...or something altogether different.

The Bearer is a good story for the most part, though I will say there were a handful of bumps on the road while reading through this book. They were never enough to make me stop though. I enjoyed reading through it and thought that it was great. I will say that it isn't a perfect story but the author did a lot of good and the characters are fun. There is a few spots where grammar could maybe be slightly better, the structure of some sentences for example, but for the most part it isn't enough to take me out of it. The story is also something I enjoy as it goes and goes but that feels like it is the point. The characters seem lost and are struggling to learn and adapt to the hand they have been dealt and I think the author does a great job of showing that off. There is a lot I like about this and I find myself seeing more good then bad. Even the bad is minor and small so I would say that you should give this a try if you can. It's a good story. Overall, I enjoyed this story a ton and I hope it keeps growing and does well. It was really well done. I will keep reading more and maybe my overall review will change but where I am at right now this is a really solid tale.

Characters are written extremely well. Some come across as one dimensional however there seems to be more that meats the eye for most of our main cast and crew. The mystery tag should be added as this novel is almost like a detective adventure where the goal is finding the solution to a world ending problem. Overall it has been an enjoyable read and I would recommend to any fan of Adventure Fantasy Novels

The Bearer is a fun story. It is a classic dark fantasy with a few expected tropes, but the characters and settings help to play it all off very well. I greatly enjoyed my time reading through the first 10 chapters which were all decently long and paced pretty well.
A lot of times it reminded me of a DND game with how the plot would progress, essentially something being handed to characters A or B to locations X or Y.
I enjoyed Nido a lot as well and found him to be a very interesting character. All in all, it was a good story so far.

The story follows the pair and there lives, and generally it feels almost like a more violent version of slice of life.  The main characters are kept around and stay the focus, so you might like it if you enjoy that kind of thing.  The atmosphere and setting is dark and violent, too, but not in a truly disturbing way, not yet anyway.  It's just typical criminals trying to survive.

So overall, this story is certainly worth the read so far, of course it is just getting started and i expect that it will only get better, i am reviewing it very, very early. But it has great potential and i will be awaitng every chapter.
I give it 4,5 in most categories because i have some rather minor issues with their execution.
First of all, the style is very pleasant, pragmatic and succint. The issue i have with it is that the small time skips feel a bit abrupt? Maybe make the story fade out and in a little more smoothly, rather than just jumping? Just a nitpick.
The story is just getting started but, so far we have a nice mystery, drama, action a complicated relationship and more. The nitpick here is that i think the "complicated relationship" felt a bit rushed so far, and definitely needs fleshing out, but it is still early
The characters apart from the main one did not yet have the time to develop, but there are signs of things to come, personality traits, faults, we are only getting broad ideas so far. The main character is interesting, flawed and not just an empty shell for a self insert, although, again, a bit rushed, which.
The grammar is what i have the most issues with, because there are misplaced letters, messed up words and similar somewhat dislexic mistakes in every chapter at least a few times so far.
So to sum it up, to me the pacing feels just a little rushed and the chapters definitely need proofreading, but the story shows a great potential with a rather unique premise.
