System Integration: Easy Mode

Description

So, the end of the world has come and it's a video game apocalypse...sort of...not really...but sort of.

Sarah has always enjoyed reading LitRPG web novels but she has a beef with the typical progression of the civilization-ends-and-is-remade-by-an-alien-System type: namely, the protagonists always seem to choose the hardest possible version of the inevitable integration tutorial.

Why? Why must they always choose the option with the highest chance of death, and then - improbably but inevitably - be one of the few survivors of tutorial hell and proceed to become super OP?

Slaughtering reams of competitors and system-created monsters, all while barely but miraculously escaping death again and again, can't be the only way to power and success in the new world. It just can't. And now that she's been given a chance, Sarah is going to prove it; Easy Mode all the way.

Reader Interactive: This story was started with no prior planning, and the world is being built as I go, which makes for a very fun, though sometimes chaotic, writing experience. I post chapters as I write them instead of having a huge backlog. What does that mean for you? It means the development of characters, plot points, and all sorts of other stuff is most definitely influenced, sometimes quite strongly, by reader comments. So what do you think? Want to help craft something really fun?

...and you actually took the smart choices rather than the RRL protagonist choices?
The story is about the so called "easy mode" pick when the system apocalypse happens. The protagonist realises she doesn't have to go for the suicidial combat scenario, but can rather pick the civilian integration option and interact with alien cultures instead.
While this does come with a lot of elements of progression fantasies, this is ultimately about a person sensibly noping out of that when given the choice. Sarah wants to live, enjoy live and make friends. She's learned enough in statistics that a five% chance of death is already too high and a 95% chance means quite literally suicidal.
Overall I find this a well written de/reconstruction of the system apocalypse genre and can't wait for more chapters.

The story is adorable. It is a slow burn focused on personal relationships, self reflection, and the main character figuring out how the world works. This is not Dragonball Z.
Most of the story is from the main character's perspective, but some of the other entities involved pop up from time to time.
If you don't need action and battle in your reading, then you will likely enjoy the read.
