Description

PLEASE NOTE:This is a sequel to the seriesLegendary Farmer. I've tried to keep spoilers minimal, but some are unavoidable! Also, whileCuckoois tagged romance, the romance is secondary and slow burn, so there won't be any sex scenes.Cuckoois LGBTQIA+ friendly, and suitable for ages 14+.

What's an AI to do when her originator is in peril? Bribe someone to help her, obviously.

Amy Landon died as a result of a hit and run over a year ago. At least, according to her father and the legal system. Amythyst, the Artificial Intelligence based on Amy, isn't so sure. Unfortunately, she's limited by the fact that she's stuck in digital limbo - able to do nearly anything in her virtual world, but nothing at all in the physical.

Ava Gardner is barely existing. She has two jobs, no friends, no life, and a scuzzy apartment owned by a slum lord. There's no light at the end of the tunnel, and she doesn't even really care about the tunnel any more.

When fate brings these two together, what began as a chance for Amythyst to find out the truth, and Ava to escape the corner she's backed herself into, may become something far more.

Much like Legendary Farmer this story follows the MC through both the real world and online VR world. There are even mentions of events from Legendary Farmer. The real life of the MC is difficult and she is using the VR world as a third job more than as an escape or fun. I'm too early in the story for the plot to really start developing but the seeds are there and the writing is just as solid as Legandary Farmer was. The MC isn't OP. It isn't light and fluffy, but it's not grimdark. If you like a story that has both strong realistic characters and an active plot that spans both the VR and real world, give Cuckoo's Lament a read. Between what I have read so far and the author's previous work, I can highly recommend it.
