Description

Literal starving artist, Angelica Hallow, is suddenly hit on the head by a book while dumpster diving out of desperation. Compelled by the illustrations inside the tome, she recreates one of the intricate circles on the floor of her apartment. Ignorant of the forces she's messing around with, Angelica accidentally activates the magic circle and triggers a Summoning. But rather than any Demon or other supernatural creature, instead, she summoned... herself?! With a new voice in her head blathering about Skills and Contracts, and the inexplicable ability to give herself Orders that she is forced to obey, will Angelica be able to secure the peaceful life of artistry that she craves, or will she come to embrace the Demon within? What to expect: - A system made by Demons for Demons. - Steady progression throughout, even while still figuring out her situation and system. - Fairly lighthearted… most of the time. - Action at regular intervals. It’s not constant, but it’s never too far off. - Strictly Urban Fantasy for the first book. After that, the settings will continue to get more diverse and unique Coverart by Slothbeing

This story is a fresh take on things. I thought I’d like it and I was right. It’s got just the right mix of humor without being overpowering and a relatable, fully fleshed out 3D main character who is muddling her way through a novel situation. This story has a lot of potential. I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter and my biggest fear currently is that this story goes on hiatus. Thank you for this story.

This story is written well. The characters are fleshed out and the logic makes sense. More than that, the interactions between people are both natural and fun to read. Additionally, although a LitRPG, this story isn't plagued with irrelevant notifications, instead having the system as something that isn't the focus for everything. Altogether, a very good read.

Yessss. Self-Summon is pretty dang good. I know for sure that the author listens to sane feedback (might listen to some insane feedback as well, but who am I to judge), and is constantly improving their work.
They've had a while to figure out some word-building things (as evidenced by multiple other stories, at least one other being in the same universe (though not the same world)) and have been doing nicely with that.
A System with some wit, doesn't reach out but may respond, and seems to answer to the Demon Lord (?) Ferrul. Some unique stats that actually make sense and actually do stuff. Skills that make sense and a bunch of those lovely increase notifications. Yes to levels and ranks.
We have our dear starving(literal) artist(also literal, though that may have been obvious) doing strange things on her way to Living Decently. She does have a nice 'lil cat as well, the Cherub. Ahh, our dear main character Angelica Hallow. Surely that won't have any bearing in a story with demons (sarcastic).
We actually do get a fair amount of relationships described (a lot for an introverted artist who got fired from her Actuary job over Fraud that wasn't her fault), and interactions unique to the setting that are really cool.
I mean I suppose the only thing I would really change (like, a story is a story, if you changed stuff about it, like, that, like, isn't? Who cares? Me, obviously, but I told you that.) would be with the system messages/information in brackets, for the ones that are long enough to use periods, there aren't any adjoining the futher bracket. A bit annoying, that.
But I am fully up on the patreon for this, so take that as a way to say that it really is quite good.
    Happy reading :D

Ahhh man!! This is my first time reading this author, and what an enjoyable experience it has been. Considering that English is not my native language, I found it to be a very easy and friendly read.
I absolutely love the MC, and somehow, whenever I picture the story in my mind, I imagine a chibi version of them—which makes it even more fun! I think we can all agree: we love Cherub!
Also, I really appreciate the pacing of the story so far. It unfolds slowly but steadily, with enough detail to stay engaging, while maintaining a nice balance between slice-of-life moments and the fantasy RPG elements.
And along those same lines, I really like the original idea of her being able to summon herself, along with all the odd and amusing situations that come with it.

Another great story from Drim! If you read the Fiends for Hire Series, then you certainly will love this one! It has the best of the author's comedy, own set of worldbuilding, and complexed characters.
Style: I can never get enough of Drim's writing. Each time I read a chapter, it only gets better. The pacing structures are wonderful and filled with humor along those lines. My only critque at the moment is that the author likes to use any other name besides the Angelica's one. He used 'the girl/artist/etc' a lot which can get tiresome...although i understand not having to use Angelica's name over and over again. But besides that, perfect!
Grammar: Some minor mistakes that can't easily be fixed. Doesn't disrupt the story at all.
Story: Amazing! I have no idea what is in store in the future for Self-Summoning, yet I know it's going to be great. I'm already looking for what the plot twist might be and overanalzing every key aspect as a great book should be.
Character: Angelica's is the most understandable character Drim has so far has written. She is a tad goofy and clueless which brings the story itself somehow more realistic because when summoning demons, it's no easy task to comprehend. She is smart and let's no one get in her way...maybe besides her readers she draws for!
And her cat, Cherub is a character himself. Don't let anyone let you think otherwise!
Overall I cannot put this book down. It's addicting and a slow-burn that actually will build up to something. I can't wait to meet other characters and see where this progress. Oh also, I hate LitRPG and refuse to read any other. This one has me hooked. If you are scared to try LitRPG, give this one a try! If you love animals, a silly young woman summoning herself or demons (who knows?), and action and adventure on the horizon, this one is for you!

Genuinely interesting, with perfect pacing. Things don't overstay their welcome, nor are arcs rushed through. Daily updates as well. The realistic use of the DGS is also riveting as well, and feels ingenious. To put a long story short, regardless of where the author takes this one, I'm in this for the long haul. Thanks for writing!

Author does a great job of writing an MC that is naive but not an idiot, with steady learning and a cast of amusing characters.  Even the recently introduced "mentor" is believable given the world building context we have been given so far.
How much more can I write without including spoilers?  I'm not going to do that.

I like it a lot. It gives a perspective of an author. Tbh, I never thought that much about the struggles authors go through. I mean, sure, they get sick and stuff, but I didn't really THINK about it. I just went "Oh well, no more chapters for a few days." Completely disregarding that they are also human beings. This novel gave me a new perspective. Thank you.

I'm having a blast reading this story! I'm a big fan of litrpg style stories, and this one is a fun and fresh take. Part of that stems from the protagonist not knowing the game mechanics that she's found herself benefiting from -
such as trying to figure out what MP and GP mean
    - and having to learn as she goes.
The only criticisms that I have, and they're minor nitpicks at that, are that scene changes can sometimes be a bit sudden and there's a bit of an info-dump partway through about the abilities. Other than those, though, 10/10 have recommended to friends already.

After reading the first 20 chapter, I must say this is a positive suprise. First of all I appreciate the artwork of the story, it looks amazing and what I like so much is also, when a artwork, or cover is from the story.I really like the switch in narrators from first person to third perosn and the different styles of them. I also think the skill sheet looks really good and I like the organization great. The story so far is awesome and also funny, with a lot of thought going through it. It is also a plot that is not that often used as far as I know. With a lot of own ideas. After Drim finished reviewing and checking the chapter and fixing it, I find it as one of the smoothes to read, at least form my experience as a non-native speaker.I really like all of the characters so far, the MC is really good written and the side characters are also enjoyable to read.Overall great story so far and I hope it continues as it goes on, on the same quality as well.Thank you for reading my review and also thank you Drim for writing the story so far because it is really great.
