Description

Hypothetically, if a neighboring nation with whom you shared a checkered past reached out to you, hat in hand, for assistance in preventing a once-in-a-generation tragedy, what would you do? If your response was in any way resembling 'send a mentally unstable weapon to their largest center of learning and wait for the fireworks' then you may qualify for a job in the Federation's highest military office. Good timing, as they may soon have some vacancies. Meet Cal; he's not actually unstable. Awoken in this new world years ago, his second lease on life has not been a smooth one. Now called upon to serve his country by completing what is, on paper, a covert military assistance mission, he finds himself marooned at the heart of the enemy. Saddled with a fake identity and family, Cal must balance the school life associated with attending a hybrid of magical college/highschool for nobles while also secretly investigating a plot with the potential to doom the Academy and the city in which it resides. Somehow, failing a class or two doesn't seem as important as stopping demons from burning everything down. Not everyone agrees with him. Update target is once a week.

This story blew me away. I’m a picky reader, so I wasn’t sure upon seeing the slightly unpolished phrasing in the first ~5 chapters (it improved drastically after), but the author has visibly written this novel with a lot of love. Amazing foreshadowing and plot lines weaving throughout the story. The main cast are all likeable and the character motivations are extremely well-done. Same with the worldbuilding. Our MC often says there’s a lot of moving pieces in the background, and it certainly feels that way with the masterful storytelling. Big fan, would reread again and again.

Well this is a gem. I found it completely by accident and honestly wasn’t expecting that much, but now it’s bumped up to one of my favorite stories on this platform. The setting is really cool and I get the feeling we’ve only brushed the surface so far. The politics and cultural differences between the Federation and the Empire are fascinating and I like how neither are portrayed as objectively good or evil, or even in the possession of a moral high ground. The setting of the Academy in particular is intriguing both for the unique school culture and other reasons I won’t name.. Every single character feels fairly fleshed out, although I do think a little more work could be done there if I had to pick a point of critique.
This story is very much one that withholds the majority of information from the start and intersperses reveals with hints and fun nuggets to find. There’s a heavy mystery aspect to it, both for the characters and the readers, and I think it’s masterfully done.
However, all that aside, the real way Saving the School Would Have Been Easier as a Cafeteria Worker shines is through the main character, Cal. Cal is hands down one of my favorite characters of all time. He’s goofy, sarcastic, slightly morally ambiguous, but most of all he feels like a person. He has traumas and vulnerabilities as well little quirks and odd passions. He also loves to cook and he’s a history nerd (which just makes him cooler). His charisma is infectious even through a screen. The story could literally be a slice-of-life about him living in the suburbs and I would still devour it and rate it 5 stars. While he does bring a lot of humor and fun to the story, he also brings a lot of intrigue. Most of his past and powers are still unknown to the readers (although definitely hinted at). For example, we know from the tags and several comments he’s made that Cal was originally from our world or a very near image of it. He seems to have died and reincarnated…somehow. The thing is, we r

I can't believe I've missed this for the past 10 months.  The prose and Grammer are excellent, the world building is well done and the Charactors are fun.The way they've handled the protaganist being OP from jump works really well and the bits of backstop are doled out at a great pace

The story is follows an OP character with a quite novel approach, using an interesting approach on magic and overall characters. The grammar is good, the relationships and events well defined and develop quite realistically over time. The plot may be a bit slow, but the vivacious style is pretty good in keeping the reader interested, and the facets of the world discovered piece by piece also help.

    Fantastic book.
I heartily recommend this book, and it is absolutely worth a read. Characters are interesting, mc actually has a personality, and the plot is engaging.
Magic system is mostly unexplained, but the glimpses we have seen so far is enough to not be confusing yet still be unique. Basically, it's not the focus of the plot.
Characters are the strong suit, which is the best way to do a story. Let the plot revolve around the decisions of the characters, not the other way around. Great job to the author.

I like this story a lot--my personal opinion, but I'd daresay that others like it as well. I hope that there will be many more chapters in the future and I will read them as soon as I can. I recommend not to pass it over just because of the title or cover.
I'm going to go reread it.

I am enjoying this story.  The characters interact well together, it's not just some lone wolf murder hobo ,fight fest, which I dont care for. I ran out of chapters and wish the update rate was faster or there was advanced chapters, which I would join the authors patreon for if there were 20 to 30 advance chapters. I think it's a great job doing an OP character that is still able to interact with average level people. I read fast so I guess I will check back in a year for more stofy.

This story has been wonderful! I am impressed with how well the author uses Cal's (MC) flaws to make the book so entertaining! I was apprehensive reading, because I usually like weak to strong stories. However, this one knocks it out of the park! From my experience, MCs on RR are often infallible and always know the right things to do. Cal had been a very fun and refreshing character to read by comparison! World building has been fun and doesn't over stay its welcome! Fun characters and great interactions drive the story in a great way. Lots of laughs to be had!
