- FroggieTheFrogArtistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve downloaded all the books and kindle and omg I love this series!!! It’s so good!!! The writing is a bit messed up, but only like a few words each book. In the whole 4 books I’ve read, I’ve only found one minor inconsistency. Even Primal Hunter (which I love with all my heart) has more writing and grammar mistakes.
the concept itself is very exciting. At first when I read card/deck building I thought it would be something like pokemon cards and I’ve very happy that it is not. I love this concept and the characters so much! - FlynnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm loving the feel of it! It gives me Dawn of Wonder Vibes. The main character acts his age and the story has lots of possibilities because of the good world-building so far! I'm curious as to what sorts of classes there are, and wether classes exist outside his master of skills card?
- EndersGamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was my first read into the deck building genre. Really enjoyed the pacing, the character development and the overall tale. I like how the protagonist wrestles with being both good and bad. Dipping into skills that he thinks will corrupt him yet still maintaining his upright stance and moral code. Fun read, keep it up. I'm excited to see what is coming next.
- CarelessParsleyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is well written and the MC is relatable. The initial card MC has gotten is a mechanic that we've seen many times before (hi Mark of the Fool) but the story is written well enough that it's fine for now, and deck building suggests that the story will get mechanically more interesting. Let's go!
- Chaos JesterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I may have a bit of biased for deckbuilding litrpgs due to my love of them mixed with the complete jealousy I have of not being able to make them, but hey. Whatever.
The story and world are expansive and ripe with potential, and the main character is a great fit for it. It'll be fun to see him age and grow through this world, seeing what kind of toll it will ultimately take. - CoincidentalWriterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is maybe my favorite fiction on RR at the moment. It reads like a proper novel that's gone through all the paces: reviewing, editing, and proofreading (which it may well have).
Style-wise, I love the way the author can always find very visual descriptions. The word used is always the right one, and when it's the wrong one, it is on purpose to further plant an idea in your head. The witty turns of phrase are also delightful.
Story: Incredible integration of the done-to-death LitRPG system. It's what we all know and love, but it feels grounded in the universe in a way that many others don't in similar works. The System isn't tacked on to a world that could do without it; it's integral to the plot and the world in a very organic way. The actual plot itself takes a little bit to pick up - friends I've recommended this to have said they got bored during the first few chapters waiting for something to happen. The fiction waxes descriptive, sometimes to the point of overexplaining, but I personally didn't mind.
Grammar: As I said, finished novel vibes. It's not a full 5 stars because I have noticed some small typos here and there, but that's just the cost of business.
Character: He's so consistent! He's so ambitious! He's so dreamy! Arthur really has it all. He's flawed, and he overextends himself sometimes. It doesn't always pay off. Side characters are not too deep, but they're not just flat sheets of paper by any stretch.
This is one that I recommend to everyone in my webnovel circles. Give it a try. - DemotiousRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As Franky from One Piece would say, "SUPPPEERRRRR"
Great attention to detail and leading the story in a very interesting direction. Amazing Characters, and chose a perfect fit for the narrator for ther series. Book one is out on Audible! Don't Miss out on hoping on this hype train! There isn't a ton of Deck building LitRPGs yet and this one really did hit the spot I was craving for. Such a unique spin on Magic and you can't forget it has Dragons! - But2eneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We get to follow the hero from rags in its poor village to riches thanks to it special advantage. I really like progression fantasy. The lore around cards makes the world building interesting to me.
I am mixing the first three books in my memory because I read them several months ago, but it was fun to see the character progress through hardship.
I just finished book 4 on Amazon, and I went back to Royal Road because I want to read MOAR. Book 4, more particularly second part, brought a lot of lore and progress to plot. I can't wait to see more ways for the main characters to use their skills to win in non-obvious ways ! - EarthbinderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a great and unique world. It's almost an apocalyptic kingdom fighting the world. But there's magic and collecting. And random boosters (ish)
what I really want is the Rpg sourcebook. Preferably system neutral or narrative.
I want to know more cards. I want to know the systems I want More.
pls write - Ghfghf7Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I didn't think the deckbuilding mechanic in this story would work, but it totally does. The story is a slow burn fantasy, which I like. The author does a great job of fleshing out the characters and making them relatable. Each section of the book (arcs) is perfectly paced. I can't wait to read more of this series.
