Ross Moreland dearly wishes to spice up his dull life as a PA with something actually exciting. Like magic. His wish comes true when he gets summoned to another world. Then he gets ritually sacrificed.

Luckily, the banished sun god rejects it, sending him back to life with a starlike core, one that gathers a ton of mana to explode into being. Ross can't use up the mana fast enough to prevent a fatal detonation with regular spells. What he can do is Sacrifice it all away, in return for incredible rewards. First, he just needs to join the very cult that tried to kill him.

Convincing them that a declining cult needs a cultist with a star core is the easy part. If Ross wants to get a handle on his mana core, he'll have to navigate through evil nobles, fanatical vampires, and a sunless city that despises the weak. Good thing that it's Ross's turn to play with Sacrifice.

What to expect:

- Isekai in the style of Ar'kendrithyst and Cultist of Cerebon- Training and magic exploration- Some slice-of-life, some dungeon delving, some (eventual) cult-building- Chapters between 2k-3k words- Posting Schedule:Once per day for the first month, then about 5 times a week (M-F)

I have never seen such a concept before the way the weave determines the rewards for specific things and how the MC can sacrifice things that shouldn’t usually be sacrificed. The fact that the MC will die if he doesn’t sacrifice things is also interesting I think this allows the story to develop further forcing the MC to progress to live anyways PEACE.

I can’t remember the last time I left a review but I’m leaving one now because I love this series. It’s interesting, I love the world building and Ross is a fun character with interesting abilities. I’m hoping that we get to see a lot more of what’s going on. My only critique is that Ross is overly focused on his own empowerment. It’s not a problem from a character perspective, it makes sense but I feel like the story does suffer for it a bit. Also for a cultist story there hasn’t been much development of the cult, at least as much as one would expect. It’s there but it feels like it’s secondary.

Interesting story and a unique scenario. The idea of a rejected sacrifice is hilarious to me. The character is very motivated. Things haven't really been explained much yet but that makes sense because the character has no idea wtf they're doing. I was expecting some time loop shenanigans with his core exploding multiple times. That has not happened instead we have an mc with a big big problem and supposedly only one fix. Idk why using other mana doesn't help at all. The character is interesting. The politics of the world seems complex and humans are at the bottom of the food chain. The main character seems to have being driven his main personality traits which is fine. Good story with lots of spoons in different soup im not sure what way the writer will go we have him learning from a blacksmith he owes a favor. A mage academy a failing cult a mentioned adventures guild the op could go many different ways and im excited to see which way he does. I hope this author feels bolstered by the reviews and keeps up the hard work because so far I have really enjoyed the series and look forward to listening to it regularly.

A really good isekai litRPG. From the title, I was expecting something like Overlord where MC joins an evil cult, but this is more slice-of-life. Although the parts where action hits, it's good too. It's impressive how the author has blended an innovative litRPG, world-building, action and some mystery as well with well rounded characters.

For me, the best part of any story are the characters that inhabit it and their interactions with both the world and their fellow people. In my opinion, every character in this story with any significance is well written and thoughtfully made, with their position in the world taken into account. I genuinely look forward to each update just so I can see what Ross does next and how he grows and changes, because he is far from static.

I cant understate how simultaneously fantastical and dreary the story’s setting is, its mind boggling to imagine a world where most natural phenomena have all but disappeared save for the magic that does its best to replace them. The author does an amazing job shaping the different species of this new world, crafting very distinct and interesting personalities for the more important characters, and constructing a beautifully simplistic but not at all easy system of magic. This work of art has quickly become one of my favorites and I would pay good money to see it brought to life, when I can afford it of course, can't wait to continue reading this and eventually join the Patreon for any extra stuff the author has for this series.

Sacrifice Mage was one of oh so many recommended novels I'd bookmarked and not quite gotten around to. That was a mistake.
The system feels so innovative and creative and has had me daydreaming about what concepts could become things in the novel. The writing doesn't feel wasteful and delivers beautifully, eliciting emotional responses and excitement.
I've just finished the first arc and I am sitting here wowed. I can't recommend this enough (and already have to quite a few friends). If you're even remotely on the fence, please, give this a chance. The only thing you'll lose is time - because you'll end up hooked and binging it just like I have.

I’m on the Patreon bc I couldn’t wait and holy moly… I already ranked this 5 stars but I lowkey would do 5.5 or something (11/10) bc I’m really enjoying the story.
It’s well written, and well thought out. Beyond that, there are realizations that Ross makes that have informed me as well irl. The world is well thought out, and deep, even though we’ve only seen a corner of it.
I just commented on the Patreon that I understand why people say they read things too fast because finishing the latest chapter there (84) had me truly wishing for more.

This is great. The story hits the ground running and honestly, I wish there was already more of it. I really want to see what’s next.
I first gave this a 4.5 star rating because I like to wait a while before giving a story 5 stars. There’s nothing overtly wrong with this story right now as far as I’m concerned. This is just how I personally prevent rating bloat when I give ratings.
