Reborn as a Tank [A Tank LitRPG]

Description

Dying is easy. Becoming a magic-powered tank? Not so much. Arthur used to be human. A fairly normal guy with a family, maybe a dog… or was it a cat? The details were kinda fuzzy. His memories didn’t handle death all that well. The darkness trying to consume him certainly didn't help. He got better, though. Sort of. An entity calling itself the Vanguard System offered him a second chance. Unfortunately, it didn't bother to explain what this new life would look like. Now, reborn as the Vanguard’s Warrior, Arthur became a tank. A real war machine, complete with a cannon, heavy armor, treads, and even a machine gun. With this new body, he must face demons, dying worlds, magic, and the not-so-mysterious Vanguard organization. All in all, not too bad for a second life. It definitely isn’t boring. “Wait. What do you mean I have no ammo?” What to expect (Beware of spoilers):-An MC that is a magic tank-Mech transformation-Weak to Strong-Upgrades, lots of upgrades-Visiting different worlds later on-Evolutions, armies, and massive battles-Big Mechs vs Kaiju fights in the future-No Harem or planned romance Warning: This story features a mech form the MC can use for a very limited time (a few minutes), with a cooldown (over a day). If you don't want to read about that, please turn around. Updates:3 chapters per week

What readers say about Reborn as a Tank [A Tank LitRPG]

  • Great story. I love the isekai twist of turning into a tank. The combat is entertaining and makes sense. I love the matrix form, it’s very cool and fits the setting. Not sure why some others dislike it so much. I like the charactization so far too. Overall…

I LOVE THIS! Its pretty unique in it's genre, which is rather hard to do for an isekai, it seems to ve a very interesting mix of dungeon core mechanics and the traditional hero mechanics of a litrpg, I will be following with great interest, because I love tanks anyway and this is awesome

Read it on patreon when it came out.
Similar to monster evolution novels (which I'm always a sucker for), but also a thought out and actually interesting progression system. Can't wait to see how he progresses further from a kinda not so regular tank.
Not much to say about the world yet, but there are plenty of mysteries to be explored.
Can't wait to read it again when theres a few more chapters. :)

Easy to follow, interesting concept and the characters so far are written well enough. Sure at times it can be the smallest bit slow but it’s part of the story as you wait along side the Mc. Very unique magic system I love the differences in levels of magic yippee

Few handouts, start from the beginning, and not OP as such. A rare form of story and one I'm gonna treasure - reborn as a vehicle is, sadly, vastly under represented online. Presumably because it's hard.Well, here it is done really well, really engaging and with a solid standard of real writing. The MC is a magic tank, and will remain one despite one or two aces that may turn up.There's a decent element of grind, minimal but necessary handouts and he is starting from a bit broken. Worth it.Gives me minor Bolo flashbacks too of course. Ken Lamaur for those that wanna follow that up.He's gotta fight, survive, and earn needed upgrades. He's as logical as a human reborn into a tank could be and doesn't give off any dumb mc vibes either (I've come from a couple of different games where mc being stupid is a plot driver 🤣). This MC is acting as solidly as one could hope for in his situation and his progress is satisfying to watch.I want to see this story succeed, it deserves to.

I got to give credit where it's due. Reborn as a Tank Mech MC is pretty unique. No boring preamble about the MC’s past, which he’s mostly forgotten, straight to a system forced tutorial against spawning hell gates and their demons.Pacing is pretty good given the tutorial formatting of the opening chapters. The author did a good job of balancing information (lots of details for any tank enthusiasts out there) with action, while giving our Mech MC some dimensions with a personable personality.Let me be honest, this isn’t my cup of tea. That said, there was nothing boring, jarring, off-putting, or much of anything to critique. If I had one suggestion, it would be to establish a goal for the MC sooner. A Primary Mission, if you will. I’m sure its target audience will enjoy devouring this. Kudos to the author for a well-written opening.

There is no shortage of LitRPG or Isekai works that involve a non-human MC, however I don't believe I've seen anything that actually has the protagonist being a literal combat vehicle. Maybecontrollinga vehicle, but never the vehicle itself. Until I read "Reborn as a Tank".And it's good. The pace is just fast enough for each chapter to be engaging, while slow enough that the incremental progress of the MC doesn't feel rushed. The main character in particular is likeable, if not a bit goofy - but I'd take that over a super-stoic, completely flat and one-note MC.Looking forward to seeing more of this!

So far very much enjoying this book, it fits a genre. I very much like but at the same time making it a little different and fresh feeling.
It is so far easy to follow and makes sense, the chapters don't seem overly grindy and still informative that keep a decent pace going without being to quick. I 100% am looking forward to the further development of this book and look forward to being able to add it in with my favorites

Honestly one of the best stories I've read on Royal Road so far. It has an entirely unique progression system that doesn't feel like copy paste, which is quite refreshing. I was at first put off by the Mech when it first appeared but it has grown on me. Now, I look forward to when the Arthur will use it again. I'm very excited to read more.
