Before us, we have a very good and solid slice of life Isekai. The tag is a bit misleading, the story is nowhere near short, but it is easy to read and be enthralled by this interesting setting. Besides, the story is good, so why complain?
The start is a bit cheeky, at first, I got the feeling that the MC (Ryuji) was either a supersoldier or a superhero based on the prologue, before it was revealed that he is just an ordinary kid, playing a game. The emotions and the masterful deception that the author managed to evoke in the prologue give you a taste of what is to come.
Ryuji is a bit of a weird protagonist. When given the choice to either have money and charisma, physical power, or magic, he went for the money and charisma. Now, I expected him to turn into some sleazy MC scum, but nope! Ryuji is an extremely likeable and hardworking MC who tries to use his newfound wealth to help himself and others while navigating this new and strange world. His reaction is mostly natural. The chapters are extensive, but I feel like he should have given at least some thought about his family in the other world.
The author knows their craft and never piles up any information dumps at the reader, giving us the information sparingly. From time to time, we are treated to scenes from the other POVs, which create a nice break of pace and give us some action scenes.
Characters. A bit basic, but this is working for the story. The story takes place in a city without (for now) involving any epic-level characters. Of course, everyone will speak naturally! What's more important is that the characters have their own personalities and come across as likeable.
The story pace is slow and methodical, but at the same time creative and making you wish for the MC to succeed, since he is not looking to punch down (or to punch anyone in general), but to raise himself up as an equal to others by learning skills and bettering himse - ZagarothRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The base story is standard, Isekai with a special power, but it's an interesting one that takes work to exploit and can backfire or be temporarily mitigated. Plus a complication, as clear in the title.
It has some nice sized chapters and some solid world building, along with a wide cast of characters who feel like distinct individuals, though they could do with a bit more depth.
Ryuji is very much an imperfect hero, and just awkward enough to by sympathetic while avoiding being painful. He's a good guy and I like him.
The writing does not have the smoothest flow, but it's clean and easily readable. - aWildAsianNamedDuckyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First n foremost be prepared. The chapters are chonky! Like 10K Words chonky for some of them. The author has already mentioned that they are planning to split them up as to have regular chapter variances between chappies.
Now on to review.
The story features Truck-Kun doing what Truck-Kun does best, sending main characters to the Isekai realm.
The prologue is strong, and so is the world building! It's a bit stereotypical fantasy world, but it has catgirl, werewolves, and your slew of fantasy archtypes. The weakest part I would have to say is the character building BUT! Looking at this from a LN reader view I can see this story flourishing if the chapters were split up and the spacing were done with some downtime for the reader to process the info.
It isn't harem, but it easily could be with minor adjustments and I can visualize the story n my head being animated lol
Final bit, The pacing is a bit slow for the amount of words, but by no means is it bad. There's a lot of run ons, but with the story as chonky as this is you kinda expect it uwu
I will read moah and add on to dis as I go.
