Legends and Librarians - A Cozy Fantasy Romance
Community Rating
Description
At the Misty Mountain Library, stories don’t just sit on shelves—they leap right off the page.
The first two books are available on Amazon. I have plans for a third, but will not be posting it here until I finish my other series. Sorry for the delay!
Book 1 Legends and Librarians:An eager librarian tries to revitalize her favorite library, but something big has changed since she last saw it. The books have come to life and characters are causing cozy chaos all over the mountain! Can she reign them in and have the library ready in time for the biggest story festival of the year?
Book 2 Myths and Manuscripts: A contest to finish the demon lord’s famous book series draws a lot of attention to the library–and puts pressure on the demon lord to find his own writer. As the lines between story and reality blur, the writer steps inside the demon lord’s book, experiencing a whole new world.
What to Expect
* Cozy vibes full of found family, whimsical magic, and the warm feeling you get when discovering where you truly belong.
* Low steam romance that doesn’t overtake the fantasy
* Dual point of view (roughly every other chapter switches)

I would also like to express my gratitude towards the author of this story, its a really nice captivating story that'll make your heart melt and transform at the same time. Happy writing! - DrakonaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm admittedly haven't read many slice of life stories, but this one so far seems really cool. I really like how passionate Nyssa is about the library, even though it's definitely haunted by stories come to life. I also feel that Nyssa and Roan have really good chemistry, and that the story switches between both of their points of view. In summary, this is a very sweet and charming story that I would heavily recommend even if your not that into slice of life books.
- Fandom, Food, and FamilyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm loving it so far and can't wait to see where it goes! I'll keep an eye on this story and any others the author writes, they've got potential. It reminds me of Delicious in Dungeon but less eating the monsters. I can see why people don't leave reviews often though, that fifty word minimum is kinda irritating.
- FarstalkerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read a lot of adventure and combat oriented stories on Royal Road. Sometimes you just need a light hearted fun story. This on fills that role. I enjoyed your characters and story line. I hope you keep writing more stories like this.
Sorry the rest of this is just to make it to the 50 words for a review. - Isa BayfieldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For an avid reader like myself, this plot is a beautiful gift. A sentinent library with book spirits come alive? What could be better?
The Misty Mountain Library has been forgotten and is in dire need of help. A very nice and dedicated librarian makes it her goal to rescue it. An equaly nice adventure joins her. These two very likeable characters, they fall in love with the library, the book spirits and each other.
This plot is well written, interesting, a cosy calming read. Just good for the heart. I love it. - PtrstRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm really enjoying this story. The characters are super cute, the budding romance is a lot of fun, and I can't wait to hear more about the library itself! The festival should be a lot of fun to read about; I'm really looking forward to it. I know that the author took out a chapter that had a lot of action and replaced it with something more fitting the story, and as a reader I appreciate that. I'm not opposed to action or anything, but keeping it more in-genre can be a ton of work, and I'm glad that the author took that route.
- Veri MerriRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, so the short version is that is this easily up there for one of my favorite stories out of what I've read on this site. The cozy vibe hits exactly like you would want it to if this is the type of story you're looking for. The only potential downside is that if you're looking for something more high drama or intensity, you may want to look elsewhere.
As for the long version;
I'm really enjoying this one. I'm a big fan of cozy romance, and that's really difficult to find on this site. Legends and Libraries absolutely hits the bullseye it was aiming for on vibe. It's cozy vibe radiates off the page exactly the way you would want from a series like this.
The writing style is easy to read and digest, but isn't so simple that it feels lifeless. It strikes a good balance and the straightforwardness of the prose helps convey the right atmosphere. The grammar is tight, with minimal mistakes and certainly none that take away from the reading experience.
The story and characters are obviously what you'd be reading this for. Both the female and male leads are fun, engaging, and very likeable. They play off one another very well, and their characters are obviously part of the centerpiece for the warm, welcoming vibes.
Next to the characters, the center of everything so far is the library itself. The world building here is full of whimsy and that comes across strongest with the library and the creatures derived from it. It fun, silly, and makes for a great setting to just enjoy the characters doing their thing.
With what's available right now, this is an easy recommendation for me to make. I'll be following it from here on! - HaveFunRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I needed a Romantasy novel for a book bingo and this was a good fit - I especially loved the cozy vibes and the magical shenanigans resulting from wild magic. Along the way, the two main characters meet, help each other through times good and bad.
There was also a bit of mystery regarding the library and the surrounding village. Bringing readers and authors together in the form of a festival at the library was another cool worldbuilding element that I enjoyed.
Overall, a nice lighthearted cozy book. - VolcronicRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Great story! This should be more popular then it already is.
The story: The world building for this unique world was a bit clunky at times, with infiodumps here and there, but it really didn't subtract from the story and you get into the details of this unique world. The idea of a world centered around storys, while not entirely new, certainly feels inspired and unique. But with this, I have noticed that a few more topics and things should have been touched on more to make the world, and specifically the small part of this world we see thrugh the story, seem a bit lived in and realistic.
The style: Right, so I do love the style and the cozy descriptions of everything and the general atmosphere when reading it. It could be said that the description of events could be a little unrealistic, but that comes with the territory I suppose.
Grammer: I am no English teacher, but I didn't notice anything obviously wrong.
Characters: First off, I love the characters. They all add a little to the story to create a masterpiece, complimenting each other well. It could be said that the characters were really generalized at timed, really focused on the archetype that they were rather then as if they were individuals. Maybe looking closer at the individual characters and looking at them closer would help, but it should also be said that focusing on, for example, Roans parents leaving him repeatedly without adding any more description or details we didn't already know, realy makes the characters a bit two dimensional.
All in all a really great book, with only a few small things that could be better in my opinion! - XedricRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm not going to lie to you and tell you this is a perfect story or one of the best things I've ever read. I'm a fairly grouchy person about giving perfect scores because there's very, very few books I've ever read that I can't find complaint with. This is the same It's rough in places, but it has heart and it's absolutely wonderful to read. A well earned 4/5 so far. Will update as it progresses.
Positive:
The dynamic of the story spirits is lovely. I find the little knights to be supremely adorable, and the dragons strike me as devious kitties with wings. The idea of a living library is extremely appealing and I definitely can appreciate the desire for a library that just calls out to you and wraps you in coziness with books and comfort. Life is hard and something like that would make everything better.
Nyssa is so passionate about books, it can't help but draw a smile. She so deeply wants to recreate her childhood dreams and memories. She wants to create that nostalgia for anyone and everyone else to enjoy.
Roan is an adorable pushover. The classic gritty adventurer with a secret heart of gold.
Misty, with what little interactions we've seen, strikes me as a scorned lover. Someone who opened themselves too readily and was hurt badly by it. That classic trope of 'learning to love again' comes to mind and it is an absolute treat to see taken with such a unique twist. I definitely hope we see more bits and pieces of personality and interaction come from this.
Negative:
My previous commentary here was unfair so I'll update it after a second thumb-through.
I'm definitely getting some small dissonance with the spirits being so widely feared and the townspeople being so very superstitious, yet things like magical creatures being hunted by the guild or clearly magical flying horses are perfectly normal sights. I get that they were haunting people, but surely such a visceral terrified reaction wouldn't be the norm. Not EVERYONE was going into the woods and getting haunted
