The premise is fun and I like the slower burn progression so far, can’t wait to read more!

hi, and this my first real attempt at a story review!
So, i very much like these kinds of stories. i love watching characters learn about the world around them, and beyond anything this has a more than plentiful hoard of that, it is a school after all!
and the fact most if not all of the narration is coming from alwin, it makes the characters that much more likable in every aspect, i believe.
this story does a lot of unique things, and from what ive seen there are little to no grammatical errors. its a story with an extremely strong start, a unique dynamic ive yet to see, and well-done storytelling! i also love the references and plays on tropes.
it feels like a really good story with no real hiccups in time or character. each character has a distinct personality that makes them instantly recognizable and all of them are likable, even the smelly humans.
    this story is going places!

Though a number of this novel’s aspects are unique — from the plot to the characters, setting and the incredibly consistent show-don’t-tell going on — I think the most unique is the narrative. Most authors taking the third person route tend to keep a wall between their characters and audience, so the novels come off like a game commentary (sometimes it’s more like a black-and-white film detective retelling events to a recorder), but here it’s heavily introspective, and comes off more like the internal dialogue that an over-imaginative child might have (very on the nose lol). I think the author’s done a great job!

Summary: Very entertaining story and definitely worth a read so far. The characters are unique and engaging. I found the main character to be one of the most entertaining ones in a while. It is definitely on the lighter side in terms of tone, though it has some more serious parts. The story is still just unfolding but I am excited to see where it leads.
Style: Very nice and clean. The personality of the main character really comes through because of the style. 4.5 since it was very good but also not a poetic masterpiece.
Story: Not to much has been shown so far but many interesting kernels have been dropped so far.  I also really enjoy the reading about the more mundane and daily life of the monsters. The mysteries and story threads we have seen ao far have kept me hooked but there is just too little to give it any more than 4 stars.
Charcters: The characters are nice and unique. I really enjoy the protagonist in particular. He is simply very entertaining. My only critique would be to flesh them out a bit more and make them a bit less one dimensional. We have a hint of that with the MC thinking about who his parents were and how weird their situation is before the others did. There’s also uchronias continued efforts to improve as a squad leader and friend that is great. I’d just like to see more of that. Gus for example needs to be more than just the guy who likes to eat. 4,5 for the great start and since it’s still early with a lot of time for character development.
Edit: characters have been fleshed out more at least the main cast. Assuming they will continue to develop the characters deserve 5 stars. I hope in the future we’ll see further development of our main cast and the other classmates.
Grammar: Not much to say here. Didn’t find anything wrong with the grammar so 5,0 from me.

So let’s get the good parts outta the way.
    Grammar? Plenty fine.
    Pacing? Also pretty good.
Style? May not be everyone’s cuppa tea, but it’s interesting.
Storylines? It takes a hot minute to introduce hooks and hints towards subplots, but it’s listed as a slow-burn story so it’s doin that admirably, and the main storyline’s progression is good and keeps me interested.
The main gripe I have with the story is the face of it, the protagonist who deserves no such title, the slime whose image is on the cover. Alwin. It is difficult to root for Alwin more often than not. Ironically, it’s not the usual pitfalls that hold Alwin back in this LitRPG-esque story: he uses his abilities, all of the ones he can use, to the best of his ability. He isn’t given God’s personal shotgun ten chapters in, but nor is he completely useless. He joins a team who actually progress alongside him instead of falling behind him or leaving him in the dust. But Alwin’s personality is so bad it feels downright corrosive. The three main characters, Alwin, Uchronia, and Gus, are all flawed and have issues: Gus is a lovable idiot who thinks, sees, and generally expresses himself entirely through his stomach. Uchronia is a control freak with anger issues that either freezes up or loses composure when things don’t go to plan. Gus may be a lil dim but it’s rarely an actual problem and he has a personality (albeit not a crazy developed one) outside of being the team’s walking dumpster. Uchronia knows she has issues and is constantly striving to be better. Alwin is a complete dipshit who constantly comes up with the lousiest excuses ever created to explain why nothing is ever his fault. Even though he’s the direct cause of approximately half of the team’s problems, and effectively always the reason why an attempt to fix a given problem goes haywire. Unironically, Alwin would be much more likable if he was exclusively a vessel for his sentient spells (which are explicitly shown in the story to be miles ahead
