It's not horrible, really. But... its like "slice of life" without life in it, if you know what I mean?
The writing is OK-ish, feels translated and has this "manga feeling" about it. It's not obnoxiously awful, but a bit blend and bit repetitive. The MC is mentally broken with "I can't be bothered about zombies" attitude to the max, which is interesting for maybe 5 chapters and then gets boring.
I guess, this is the main reason. The main story is boring. Not surprising - if your book's premise is "let's continue living normal life in apocalypse" and your character keeps his normal routine and doesn't have other motivations - who is even interested in reading about a guy going to his nine-to-five office job?
Usually "slice of life" has some other appeal factor - the job could be fantastical in nature, there is cozy feel and ambience of a lot of jokes. This novel tries some of it, but nothing actually stands out.
Maybe this book will be good for people with a specific dry type of humour. If it was a British sitcom, I bet it would be very funny to watch. But as a book its just so-so in my opinion. And its not that the author can't write interesting characters, some of mini side-stories aren't bad at all here...
