Hermione Granger and The Boy-Who-Lived (OC!SI)
Community Rating
Description
To Hermione Granger, the boy she met on the Hogwarts Express was Harry Potter, a nice, if odd, boy who's very likely going to get her killed, or worse expelled. To Harry Potter, the girl he met on the Hogwarts Express was Hermione Granger, a nice, overly rule-abiding girl who he'd considered to be one of the few (somewhat) reasonable people in an overrated book series he read.A book series that, against his will, has now become his life.
I know right? I mean, who still writes Harry Potter fics, everybody knows the world has moved on to Worm and ASoIaF.But you know what? It's NaNoWriMo, so screw it, I'm gonna do this.Enjoy.Or don't. You know, since I can't exactly make you.Or can't I? After all, if the story turns out to be interesting then isn't that me making you like it?Huh. Food for thought.
PS: this is a Harry Potter fanfic.

- qalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've never liked the self-congratulatory way so many authors label their work "Rational-Fiction," but i think the title might actually fit here.
Rationality is overated, but this story makes sense, so if you must insist on the plaid, tofu term -- this story is rational.
Hermione and Isekai-Harry are likeable; Hedwig is cool; and somehow the author manages to make me excited and worried to find out what will happen in his story and how the golden-duo will deal with a story I've read n-times.
5/5 recommend. - KoreleafRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well wrote sentences with clear verbiage. Hermiane projects her thoughts and feels fairly well. And most important of all, me likey! An interesting fan take of Harry Potter that I'd actually like to see to the end.
And now, here is a superfluous sentence to reach the word count limit. - LomyrilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0At this point everyone is familar with the general story of Harry Potter, the boy-who-lived. Many have read the books, and even more have watched the movies again and again.
If you're here reading this, then it's likely you enjoy reading stories made in the Harry Potter universe.
Some of those stories are about what it would be like to BE Harry Potter if you knew what was going to happen in the future. Many more stories are about a new person inserting themselves into the story as a new character with knowledge of what will happen.
This is one of those rare stories where you have someone who becomes Harry Potter, and has knowledge of the future... but the story isn't about them. The story instead is told from the perspective of one of the more beloved characters of the "Golden Trio", a certain Ms. Granger.
Hermione is normal. She is faithfully recreated here as one of the original characters in the story. Yet, we get to see her reactions to someone who has either transmigrated or reincarnated into Harry Potter.
It is really refreshing to see things develop in this manner. I am eagerly looking forward to each chapter as it gets released. - PyroSquidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A wonderful story so far and I can't wait to see more of it. I only have two complaints, but they aren't that major in my eyes. The first is that Harry and Hermione both seem very mature for their age at points, though i think this can be satisfactorily explained by Harry's traumatic experiences and Hermione's semi-strict upbringing, and their shells crack enough to see the children underneath. The second complaint is the time frame; the external pacing flows well and doesn't seemed rushed, but the internal pacing of all of this happening in two weeks seems too fast with it feeling more like this should have happened over a month and a half or two, what with Harry and Hermione learning some advanced (for new students) spell work in that time.
- Tom HanksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Surprisingly good. I normally don't like fan fiction, but I love Isekai books and the summery made me laugh. Unique style to have the POV through Hermione. The story (Harry) made me laugh a lot. Overall I liked what happened a lot. I only have 1 real problem with the story. That being that the whole story, start to finish, is 2 weeks. A lot happens in those 2 weeks. I think the story could have had time skips while they were training. Didn't have to be a full year, but have it stretch a few months maybe. But like I said, I liked the story a lot. I don't regret reading it, and I will follow the author in waits for more.
- VerratRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a nice HP fanfic. A little flowery and rose-colored but with decent humor. There are some original twists in the story. So far, the first two weeks have taken around 50 chapters, and a lot of material from the original books has been used in a pretty novel way. If the story keeps this detail, we will be looking at a very long and amusing work.
- numinorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's 1 a.m. and I opened a few novels that caught my eye on the trending page, just to read a few chapters and decide which to follow, if any.
I didn't expect much, but then I found this one. Harry Potter fan fiction oftentimes hit or miss, but this one is a big-big hit. And I'm not sleeping today it seems. - AlmarnaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been weesing like seal I've laughed so much at how ridiculous this Harry Potter is behaving, the jibes, selections an utter breakage of the fourth Wall in a way that doesn't feel too forced is just gold. With the silver being the usual suspects inability to handle harry
In short, this seal approves - Cherry_ValeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story honestly isnt far enough along to give a comprehensive review, but I can say that everything so far has been quite good. All that plus the bonus of the author not being an awful person!
Anyway the characters are mostly the same except for Hermione. I like what the author has done with her significantly more than the original version. Less stuck up, significantly more relatable and generally all around better. My only real complaint is that we haven't seen more of Neville who I quite liked, but then again we're still quite early in so who knows.
The grammar is fine I really dont have much to say about it. I haven't seen any grammatical errors or noticed any typos so five stars.
For style again I'm not entirely sure how to judge it, but the dialogue and thought processes all seem real so good job there. Only complaint here is i feel like the dates in the middle of the chapters would be better as just "tommorow" or "later that day" rather than needing to look back to see how much time has passed, but overall very minor complaint.
Finally the story isnt that far in, but I love what I've seen so far. It's both an improvement over normal HP and a very interesting take on transmigration where it's the mc's friend that transmigrated. The story also very strongly implies that it will fix the fact that everything in the Harry Potter universe could have been dealt with quite easily if all the characters actually used their brains.
Anyway overall lovely story and I look forward to seeing it develop. - CreestawlRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I always start SI's with low expectations. This fic was a pleasant surprise! It was true to the characters without being glued to the original plot. Harry and Hermione made rational choices within their spheres of emotional maturity and understanding.
It made me smile, it made me sad, it made me happy, and it made me want more.
Thanks for the great read!
