Description
Dying at a young age after a disappointing life, Mat thought he hit the jackpot when he reincarnated on a tropical island. Here, exploring mysterious lands and learning magic are a tangible reality.
But the world of Elydes is as beautiful and magical as it is wild and savage.
TheGuidemight offer opportunities for power to all, but humans aren’t as impartial. Mat has the lowest possible starting point, and those in his circumstances rarely go far.
Not to let his humble rebirth define him, he must find the determination to grow stronger and delve into the mysteries of Elydes.

- sikijaxsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The work of the author is just brilliant
The characters are very lifelike and also interesting
The system is well thought out and not bad.
I think it's just a great work of the author and hope he continues for a long time and of course it would be desirable that we all experience the end.
Good work author please keep it up
:) - Bew0elktRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The beginning of the story is great. The main character isn't overpowered and has to work for his progress and has realistic motivations. The side characters have interesting personas too and even only after 35 chapters there have been emotions reading this story. Can't wait to see where the story goes.
- ReiidennRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So I’m writing this near the end of book 3 and wanted to give my thoughts on the book and props to the author. While the story starts off slow and continues to be a slow burn throughout the books the author still manages to keep the interest and excitement throughout the what is so far around 2000 pages. The mc while being extremely strong for his age is still a big fish in a small pond which is shown to us many times throughout the story and shows that there is much more content to be found further along in the story and in the future. The system makes sense and is an interesting take on the litrpg genre with the way skills and race grades work. While it’s a slow burn there are still action packed chapters with well written combat where we see Kai use everything in his arsenal to come up on top. I also really enjoyed his powers and skill set that he acquired in the story, different from most other stories that I’ve read. The story also has pretty good grammar and not a lot of mistakes in the writing even though English isn’t the first language of the author
- letomarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly, this might be one of the best novels on this site. There's no particular field it's best at, it's best feature is the fact that everything about it is really good. So far there hasn't been a single development I disliked aside for the mild distaste for some of the family parts (let my boy freeeeeee)
- AdirellRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's one of the best stories I started reading in the last half a year. Well-developed small world with hints if bigger horizons. Likeable character who is not perfect and still learning. Interesting, believable side-characters. People acting their age and within boundaries of their experience. Logical system not overshadowing the story. Steady progression, through time, plot and experience.
I like that the author started with MC being a young child and managed to keep a good balance between childish tendencies and MC's previous life experience. I think it's well-written. I'm not annoyed that MC is so young and limited because of his age and look forward to him learning and maturing organically.
I also like that despite harsh experiences, the MC has a loving family and good emotional support. - ExChaoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This fic is pretty great. Personable MC, interesting characters, good world building, well written and edited correctly. Actually, I think I read through the available chapters in one long session, so it definitely held my interest, and I'm looking forward to reading more. I only have positive things to say about it and do recommend it!
- LukkasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like this story, and had to immediately binge all the chapters. The only downside is I now have to wait for more to be uploaded.
The premise of the story is your usual standard reincarnation. The story is somewhat slow without being too boring, which I personally like as it's no fun when a character becomes OP or ages up to an adult by chapter 2.
The magic/skill system, while not completely unique does make this story stand out. I can see how it's been setup to keep the reader interested, while allowing decent character progression.
There's some interesting characters, backstory and 'angst' which adds some depth to the story, which you don't normally see in similar litrpg.
The overall writing is solid, nothing seems odd or distracting, so it's a very pleasant and easy read. - DavePrimeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I like it a lot. It is well written and the story and world building are quite good. I like the characters and their struggles and the fact that not all always goes well for our protagonist.
I do think the ending of book 3 makes it very difficult to continue with any tension. Using one of the three divine favors for teaching of anything he whishes, to the best of the gods abilities would probably allow him to become the best space mage of all time. So if he dedicated himself to that, and planned out his professions properly the power balance would be ruined entirely and I see no reason why he wouldn't ask for that favor.
Of course he wouldn't and couldn't spend all his time on that but he could do the same thing he did with his teachers and once he learns how to safely teleport and enter and exit the hidden realm, he could even explore the world, while still learning from a god of space.
I am curious how this is to be resolved, though I assume most likely this will simply remain a plot hole, which I am quite willing to overlook because the story is pretty good, besides this one thing. - brannoxRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Well written with good grammer.
It should include the slice of life tag since after the first 20 or so chapters nothing of any major signifigance has happened. He meets his trainer and trains and grows older, meets some people and trains, grows older and trains.
What i can't handle is that 100 chapters in a story that has the graphic violence tag has written exactly 4 deaths. 2 were animals in hunting trips and 2 were murders that were described from the view on the otherside of a wall.
While i understand th kid is 11 when the trainers decide to leave he finally had a chance to join them and participate in something exciting but he chose to stay with his family. A completly understandable choice for an 11 year old but not a choice i want from the MC of a progrssion fantasy.
Its a good story but honestly Im probably gonna drop it since absolutly nothing has happened for 80 ish chapters. - WeptFountainRoyal Road★★★ 3.0It was a great read for first 3 books but really fell off in book 4. At first we have:
Interesting plot with progression
Interesting power progression, skill balancing, high stakes to growing stronger
A varied cast of characters, each with a different connection to MC
But then in book 4 we get:
Boring plot line with MC making no real progress for basically the whole thing (I read ~60 chapters into book 4)
No power progression, no grinding, no balancing of limited skill slot, half the skills MC works so hard for doesn't matter anymore
A limited cast of characters, all pretty one dimensional and shallow interactions with the MC
Also when looking what description promises
What to expect:
- More realistic take at being reincarnated in another world.
- Slow and steady growth. We’ll get to a smart ass-kicking MC, but our MC will have to build his strength and determination one step at a time, getting back up after each setback.
- Flawed characters with distinctive personalities.
- Not a grimdark story, but there will be dark elements (there are a few hard chapters near the beginning of the story).
1) Not present. I don't see a realistic take of being reincarnated. His original like on Earth adds basically nothing to his character and doesn't affect the story is any way. Later in story he will come across things related to Fate. One would think the presence of a foreign soul would cause some ripple in determined Fate of Elydes world or throw up some indicators from a device related to fate, but nope
2) Partially present. Yes to slow and steady growth for first 3 books. And we got partially to a smart ass-kicking MC (he is when compared to the people around him on a backwater island archipelago) , but book 4 throws that in the trash and we have a MC who runs around not knowing anything going on and is the one getting his ass-kicked.
3) Partially present. Yes, flawed characters with distinctive personalities. But the author has somehow taken this to mean stagnant flawed char
