- LiarbytradeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The cover art's good too. With that being said, I can't decide if you missed an opportunity to go full meta by making Rosa's creative outlet painting instead of writing. I feel like there's a lot of value for both the audience and the author in being able to break the fourth wall like that. Still, that might have been too on the nose, and you can probably take advantage of a lot of the same emotions and techniques with a painting motif. All in all, it'll be interesting to see what aspects you use and what you don't once I'm a few more chapters in. Good job and keep it up!
- Phoenix SwiftRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a relatively lighthearted and wholesome journey of the MC opening up to her friends and family. Though there are quite a few darker elements, the characters and their relationships really shine.
While there are some slower parts and some relatively contrived plot points early on in the story, each of those seemingly-contrived problems eventually begin building upon each other… and the main characters actually learn from their past mistakes to become much more proactive throughout the plot-line. As the MC begins growing up through these volumes, the reader begins to see more depth to the other characters as well.
All in all, once you get to Volume 3, the world truly expands as the cast of characters from the first two volumes all interact together in a cohesive interplay that leaves you wishing to read more. While Volumes 1 and 2 were good, Volume 3 was excellent. - Marshall75Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0An enjoyable read. The MC is a pretty mentally damaged person, and her low self esteem haunts her new life as a demon. She doesn’t really interpret the world around her very accurately and it’s interesting to take the measure of her character and how she changes. Secondary characters are okay, especially her older sister and the antagonists are pretty well developed.
- DragonzruleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was iffy about the premise of this story especially the reincarnation of the MC as a baby demon, but I've found myself drawn into it - to my surprise and delight - the world detailing, characterization and slice-of-life elements are definitely a highlight, while a few peaks of action keep up the suspense. The storytelling is smooth and I'm looking forward to more from this author. Definitely one to follow.
*DRAGON RRRRREEEAAADDDDSS* - melmonellaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Demon Queen is an expertly written slice of life with a bit of comedy. The core of the story, to me, is the big cast of characters, and the heartwarming way they treat the protagonist, and how this contrasts with her terrible life back on Earth. It's a very welcome distraction, and I for one find it very easy to empathize with Rose/Morrigan.
The pacing of the story is positively glacial; as of chapter 20, the main character had only just started to paint, and had reached the grand age of four years of age; while normally a downside, in a slice of life story I think it works excellently. I am very excited to see where this story would go next.
In terms of style, the story definitely delivers a feeling of a lived-in fantasy world, and for a work clearly inspired by anime tropes, manages to avoid the heavy focus on fanservice that I usually find annoying. There are fairly frequent typos, which is why I knocked one star off for grammar, but it seems to be mostly due to the very fast update schedule (and thus very fast writing pace), so it's up to you wherever this is even a downside. - Clay PetersonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The opening to this story sets up some interesting premises that has me hooked. It is very well edited and clean to read which makes things a joy to cruise through. I could see myself binging this again without worry.
Let’s start with characters. It’s hard to have a favorite character when all of them feel so alive and easily recognizable. With the soft loving Gunna, the pompous Azrael, and my personal favorite and fellow dad Alphegor. I want to see how everyone else lives together in this fantastical setting.
As I said above the editing and grammar is top notch and I don’t find myself stumbling anywhere while I’m reading through this. I thoroughly enjoy that as a show of skill and ability. Nothing stands out for any grammar mistakes. Very clean.
I am a big sucker for wholesome stories and I have a feeling that this scratches it just right. With enough tension and drama to keep me pouring through the chapters for every morsel of the story. Relationships changing and growing into more and more complicated but believable ways. This story is very character driven and I’m all in.
Easy follow, easy review, can’t wait for more. Thank you for the chapters. - LymsicalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I stumbled upon this story while waiting for updates on other things I follow and decided to give it a try. I expected it to just pass the time, but I ended up binge-reading all the available chapters and now eagerly await each new one.
Typically, I’m not a fan of the childhood or baby arcs in reincarnation stories, as they often feel drawn out, but that’s not the case here. Even though the story is slice of life, there's a lot of depth so far, and the characters are genuinely enjoyable.
Thank you for making my evenings more enjoyable. I’m excited to read more! - Charlotte_AstoryRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This read has had me hooked since I decided to give it a chance, and I will most truthfully say, this has ruined every other book for me. I don't think I will be able to find a book I enjoy more.
The character, Rosa (or Morrigan), is simply what I feel a character should be like (I won't spoil her personality for those who are still reading the first book). As for the other characters, they each have their personal flaws, which are normally unpredictable.
As for the story, I will say, I started binge reading this, and now I check it regularly for updates and chapters. The story has all I think a book should have. It's warm, unpredictable, and so incredibly funny.
My only complaint here is that the chapters don't come out fast enough, and until the chapter is published, I can only think about what's going to happen next! And then, at the end of each chapter, the cliffhanger just sets me off into another cycle of endless wondering.
Overall, this is a great read, and I'm looking forward to when the book is finally finished. I'd definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a new book (if they don't mind the fact that it'll ruin every other book). - The Greatest NomanRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I truly love stories which blend art and war, or rather art and conflict. Be it painting, like in this wonderful little tale, or in music, sculpture, basically any form of free expression. The interplay between these themes really gets me going, and when it is done well, no matter the genre, I am game. This story is a highly-recommend, and I have very wide-ranging tastes.
