- CatgurlRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Good grammar, spelling and prose. Zero filler. Likeable MC. Some inconsistency and behavior that makes no sense to me.
MC decides to willingly connect and possibly allay with Anna, who sent them to die and is responsible for the death of his teacher and several classmates. MC has very little reaction to those deaths and being isekaied. Ditto for the other survivor. Many of their decisions and actions feel somewhat moronic. MC absorbs Diamante monster, but does not try to absorb swan monster. Does not ask village elder about that world's society and survival options for himself and companion. Does not ask indepth questions about system. No follow up on village elder's morality story question, though I may not have read far enough for that.
Decent writing, but odd character behavior bothers me - I believe some thought and editing would help. Not bad, not great, maybe too YA for me. I will likely not read further. - DrkThundoursRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I believe a coherent and well thought-out plot is what makes a good story. However, the characters — and the world they live in — are what makes a great story.
So it's such a shame that a story with this good a concept and opening fell of so hard.
~The following contains references to the story; read at own risk~
The first arc is the stereotypical "class isekaied into magic world, weak ones get tossed, MC is considered weak but is actually op, yadda yadda yadda".
Except, the MC, Noah, actually walks out of the hellhole with a side character still alive?! Whole trope flipped on its head.
Truly a shame that everything else is trash. Noah proceeds to become the average reckless shounen protag, ignoring any and all near-death experiences to do whatever the heck he wants. Sure, he's spurred on my some mysterious voice in the back of his head, but that excuse is paper-thin as it is.
He's not the only one, either. Kiera recklessly gets her sister-in-all-but-blood stuck in a coma, then proceeds to do the exact same reckless nonsense that got her sister bedridden the first time around.
Noah gets his ass handed to him by a foreign assassin, watching his S rank guild master get trashed and taken hostage. He then turns around and demands he join the rescue operation into the foreign land where said assassin currently resides. And it works. No one bats an eye. Ridiculous.
The fact that no one learns from their mistakes is so grating it hurts the soul. Heck, even the story itself isn't that good. Everyone just acts like idiots to shuffle the plot along.
Even the Nothingness magic, which is an incredibly interesting concept with lots of avenues of exploration, can't save it. With proper writing and world building, this story could become something special. As it is now, it's just another bog standard isekai tale.
Final opinion: Boiled water. Author tried to cook, but forgot to add ingredients. Something to read when you catch up to the latest binge series chapter. Which itself is - AsmodeusyRoyal Road★★ 1.5The story is pretty shallow in that you as the reader dont know anything.
Character Score: 1
Why are characters are doing things? Who knows? Not us and not them either. To be exact we dont know how our characters are feeling despite getting an attempt at their lives and due to all the deaths around them. They are also quite stupid to the point that it might be comedy? I am not sure it was annoying for me. The stupid decisions are not explained at all they just happen. Things just happen in this story. Also no background info on our characters as well neither is there any knowledge about their skills.
Story Score: 1
Nothing rational happens in the story. I understand that they are in a different world so I expect some inconsistancies, yet nothing makes sense probably becaude there is no explanation. They just decide to visit the mage that tried to kill them so that she can help them? Why?
Also for some reason there is a village 3 hours away by carriage from the capital city of the kingdom. I dont know about how strong the kingdom is as it isn't explained but if the village is so close why are there bandits in between? You have strong mages yet your patrols cant locate them? Moreover if the village is 3 hours away then the cave our mc gets portalled into is like what 3 and a half hour away? They have a high level dungeon next to the kingdom it seems and noone is using the place to level up. In that sense what do the levels do? We dont know anything aside from healing the healing they provide when you level up.
Grammer Score: 4.5
It seemed fine to me but I dont usually look at the grammer too much while reading. There werent any major issues.
Style Score: 2.5
I mean I dont expect much from the style of the writing. I just need a good story. The style isn't bad but my score of it is low because the story the style is trying to tell is awful. I mean there arent many descriptions or explanations so it is a big minus on the style.
Honestly, it is just shonen stupidity and
