Description

Having found the tragic truth that an art degree is worth less than the paper it is printed on, Jacquelyn Jones is frustrated with her dead end work as a graphic designer for a marketing firm, finding new ways to try and convince people that this week's 50 cent off sale is actually worth driving to the store. She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super.

Superhero VRMMOs have had a... subpar reception in the past, in part due to the fact that the nature of most MMOs makes for fairly unheroic tales. After the couple hundredth time blasting the same group of mooks from the same faction on the same street corner of the same city, using the same powerset as everyone else because you only have a few options, it is hard to think of yourself as a hero anymore.

But then she heard about City of Champions Online. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games! And despite the name, there was no getting stuck in the same city as all the other players. The game world was a detailed replica of the real world, down to having some of the same shops and restaurants in town. She could be whoever she wanted, whatever she wanted.

Now, she just has to find a way to become the heroine she's always wanted to be.

Finally a superhero/supervillain story that takes the fight between the two groups to an epic level. with a dash of VRMMO spice (nothing too spicy :D)

Gotta love a good old fasion story where everyone can be unique while not making it boring.

It's okay for what it is, the writing is not bad and the grammar seems to be good. The story is, well it's okay. I can get behind VRMMO's, but like another person pointed out the mind control stuff just doesn't make sense for a game. When I play an online game and someone uses something to disable my character, I will get upset. If I was playing a game and some one could mind control me for a while as a power? Thats it for that game. I wouldn't be back at all most likely. Unless I wanted to troll other people and rolled a character to mind control people.

First arc was interesting, second arc got boring quite quickly, and the overall concept didn't really keep me interested.

Okay, so I was on board for the racists and nazi ass kicking and all that.  It was a good action packed story arc and did not overstay its welcome.  Then in book 3 I think it was the chapter titled "Defeated" and the chapters after where you lost me.  The mind control sex trafficking was way over the line for me and I'm sorry but I think I don't want this in my life even if it was shortly resolved.  For future reference you might consider using the grimdark tag.  Don't take this the wrong way because I enjoyed it up to that point, but I think I'll be looking at your other stories in case there's something a little less dark.

I need to actually remember this author's name. Don't get me wrong, the story isn't bad, but it always seems to be MMOs with complete mind control of other players. No-one would play that game. I cannot get past that idea that seems to be central to all his stories. Even limited control of other players is one of the most rage inducing abilities in gaming. There is no way someone would continue to play a character that's been compromised for days, weeks, eternity. They'd just quit. It'd be okay if it weren't a game, a LitRPG world that people are born and live in. Unfortunately as a game people play for fun it breaks all suspension of disbelief I have for the story.

    So grammer is rather nice.
So my 1st problem with is story is that is only a litrpg in the LIGHTEST of terms.... like only the begining and then there are no more Litrpg elements.
2nd thing I find kind of lacking is the "struggle" of the Main Charater and cast.... again its only really shown at the begining and then there is none.
3rd is the mind control things and growth, the mind control abilities are FAR to ex machina for any story with out a way around it, as for the growth of the charaters(that should be a major thing in Litrpg) is almost non existent and they easly beat people who are around the same "level" as them by the games standers plus no loot...NO LOOT really?
And finally the last thing the general vibe of this story is almost always(only 1 time its was not) white people bad/racist/misogynistic and villain even more so are 2-dimensional, but this is what I see when I read your story.

I mean it startet kind of fine, but when it got into there are so many Racists in America and Trump is a Nazi, bullshit the Story went downhill. I don't want to be bombarded with political shit in my free time, there is enough of it in the news. Honestly That alone makes the Story unreadable to me, so much hate.
