Description
All Adam wanted was to join the US Marines and escape the ghetto. The omnipotent Goddess of the space colony Astraea decided otherwise.
Marked as Her Chosen, Adam is loaded up with futuristic tech and shunted into an alternate world, where the skies bleed red and corruption seeps into the land. His task is to travel this world, hunting, fighting and saving the Goddess’s lost War Maidens, who have succumbed to corruption and transformed into monsters.
The more War Maidens he saves, the smoother the task—in theory. However, the War Maidens are a zealous sort. Adam, as their Goddess’s Chosen, is precious to them. He is to be defended at all costs, and may the Goddess have mercy on anyone that dares to threaten him…

- NaromacronRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0At first the cover are had me a little leary of diving into this as it simply looked far too cheerful for what the synopsis described but I am glad I took the plunge. It is a well bleded mix of hopeful growth and destopian hellscape to make, and keep, things interesting. I sat down with this book for a day and a half and had troubles looking away. Great job! I'm left craving more stories of our chosen.

Style: As far as the style goes it is among the more unique I have read down to the slang that characters use to the way that the POV's shift how the writing is done. The author has managed to make POV shifts feel alive and not just use it as a way to spectate on the MC from another prospective, but also give life to the characters who's POV you are in. Quite frankly it is amazing how well the author does this.
Grammar: I don't actually have much to say here the grammar for the most part is fine. There is the occasional typo, but nothing that distracts from the story in any major way.
Story: The story is really well done and the author has great pacing. He doesn't info dump all that much, and the characters are only given info that they have reason to know. No omniscient characters giving info dumps here.
Characters: The characters are well thought out and feel (thus far) unique and full of life. There are a few things I could nickpick such as how the first war maiden 180's fairly early on, but that could also be a major plot point.(They are zelots after all) I just haven't read enough to know. - GentlemanGenocideRoyaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0'Chosen by the zealots' in short is worth the read both to those already familier with the LitRPG genre and for those looking for an introduction. The setting and justification of the game mechanics in universe are certainly strong points for the story, the action has a good flow to it and has so far ( CH37) introduced a well rounded cast with each character being interesting individually without detracting from eachother.
Besides this i feel that the wider setting and the implications that the setting elements bring up have a lot of potential to be explored with. - malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0especially the types of wargirls who turn into ships, planes, qrabas. It's all just fanservice to me. what about this series? No, it has nothing to do with fancervis. So did I feel excited while reading it? no, that's why i'm leaving it unfinished at chapter 15 (there are 36 active chapters). Is the series a classic isekai? actually no, but nothing new for me. I have been saying this for about 5 years, who has been actively reading webnovels as a hobby. I won't tell you about the series, but there are litrpg items in the series. nice and nice to read. The main character feels real and the series is promising. Thank you to the author for writing. I'll probably keep reading and finish this series when it hits 100 or 200 episodes. good luck for the future.
- Will It WorkRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Fair warning to start, this story is not actually complete. It is, however a complete thought, and very readable.
There's strong world building and characterization here, too. A classic arc, the knight in sour armor, the reluctant call, and maidens who are witches, are all classic tropes used well here. The world is fantastic but grounded, and there's enough mystery to make the religion, Clarketech, or magic question uncertain.
If you like uplift stories, Fallout games, or redemption stories, have fun and binge. If you're looking for grimderp, overpowered protagonists, or cultivation, probably want to avoid. - Builder BobRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Not a lot I can say as it's still pretty early in the story but wanted at least something for people who read reviews before deciding on a story.
TLDR; Seems interesting so far; no harem; decent attempt to justify LitRPG elements naturally; easy to read with few errors; more grimdark than noblebright
Technical writing wise, it is pretty solid. Certainly feels like the author is actually reviewing and editing the chapters before posting with only the occasional typo or misuse sneaking through. Reading flowed easily without requiring multiple passes to understand. I'm not qualified to speak to style or the finer points of writing though so I'll leave it at that.
Story wise it's suggesting high action so far, but I'm really not far enough to tell for sure if that pacing will continue. It's a SciFi/Fantasy blend in that sufficiently advanced technology is magic and makes a nice token effort to try and naturally fit the LitRPG elements into the world in a way that makes sense. Specific details are light, I'm assuming to avoid breaking immersion with bad science, but not in a bad way. (E.g. just saying 'cybernetic implants' or 'nanobots' and moving on kind of a thing)
Basically there's SCIENCE embedded into our protagonist (and presumably other military personnel and maybe civilians as well in his new environment) that while capable of providing immense power out of the gate, take time and use for the fleshy human bits to adjust to before they can unlock the next "level" of ability. It's actually stated that bypassing these restrictions is totally possible, but is extremely dangerous and requires proper clearance cause military, which I personally appreciated.
The initial hook, if not entire story itself appears to be in some kind of future, post-apocalyptic style world and our hero is NOT happy to have been abducted here. For those worried about some kind of idiot harem that doesn't look to be in the cards at all. If anything it's "how can I get strong enough to escape t - Cranium9Royal Road★★★ 3.0The writing style is nice the fights are written well and the progression is interesting but flaws always stand out more than perks so let's get to those.
it is written like someone made up a game in their head then wrote a story about it.( not bad per se but it leads to parts that only would make sense if it was a game)
the character interactions could use some work they all seem rushed from a writing perspective not from a story perspective.(except the scenes with the consummate street rat those were written very well)
yes it's a bit harsh to put three stars but those two points bugged me quite a bit - Hououin KyoumaRoyal Road★★ 1.5In this story, readers follow Adam as he goes and does things. Why does he do this? Because someone named Her is trying to save her own soldiers.
The characterization of Adam is strange and inflammatory. Miriam and Adam have no chemistry in their dialogue. Miriam acts like she cares, but is supposed to be a jaded individual. Why does she open up so fast? Adam himself is a brutally honest adult who was raised on the streets of the US. Yet, readers are supposed to root for this person that has not had time to create a bond with the readers.
If anyone wants to read a story that does the transported to a post-apocalyptic world well, then read Deadworld Isekai.
