This might just be one long, drug-fueled overdose hallucination about gods, monsters, and magic. Fun stuff.But no—this feels too real. Probably. Anyway, my soul got yoinked into a realm of nightmares and stuffed into a sticky, screaming eldritch horror called a Black Pudding. Not exactly the afterlife I had in mind, but hey—I make it work. Tentacles, magic, sadistic hunger…yum.

This is the story of how I became a living nightmare—a divine abomination with a taste for blood, corpses, and oh-so-yummy intestines. Also, there’s this ridiculously hot vampire princess I may or may not be in love with. Or unhealthily obsessed with. Whatever—don’t judge. Maybe, at its gooey black heart, this is a love story. A messed-up, blood-drenched, insanity-riddled love story.

Way too many fourth wall breaks for my liking. But still look at the story and I love the fact that she's great. Homicidal tendencies fantasizing and eating her gods made me like the story a lot more. Thought it was unfair how the racial treats were snatch from her, but it made the story more interesting

The story starts really interesting, and the premise is super fun. Alas, if that is all I needed, I would be so much happier.
Starting with positives: The story has few if any spelling errors, the English is coherent, and the chapters are long. Fantastic.
Negatives next: The MC is annoying (her though processes are loud and clear and I stopped reading them after 12 chapters), the mc keeps failing in not so funny ways (see spoiler for spoilers), the sub-plots keep intruding on what I personally am interested in, and the mc doesn't feel like they've learned anything from said failures.
Blake keeps getting beat by enemies and yet A) magic keeps saving her ass, B) she keeps making the same mistake of throwing caution to the wind. Sure her skill use gets slightly better, but she comes off as stupid instead of a psycho. She lost the body of one of the champion candidates and instead of saving their corpses with her inventory skill, she throws them around and let's them fizzle away... AGAIN.
Anywho, I'm just not able to sit through this. If she were being evil more often instead of comic-villain insane I'd read more. I love when she actually kills someone and eats 'em. I can accept her daydreaming instead of just doing it. I can't stand her letting the guy with the skill that messed her up live instead of ending him first or picking the group off slowly.

I honestly wanted to like this story a lot, i read far past where I normally would for a novel I'm not liking, I switched from the old draft to the new and re-read, but alas it was for naught.
The story's main problem is its inability to stay on track. It nearly obsessively mixes in twists and lore drops to mind-numbing effect. The MC passes out every other chapter to have some flashback or lore dump that either changes nothing or changes everything and nothing at the same time, you find yourself skipping chapters and not even noticing.
so despite the foundation being good, the story fails to actually advance at any point due to the numerous side projects, you could find yourself skipping a majority of chapters and missing nothing of note.
