Description

What would happen if Mana touched a Realm thus far deprived of it?Well, the people of Earth are going to find out, and it's not going to be pretty. The moment the barrier that kept supernatural powers out collapsed, the only thing keeping the little pieces of floating rocks and the tiny people living on them intact, was the System’s intervention. Mia, being one of those tiny people on the little floating rocks in the middle of the void, had much bigger problems though. Like goblins trying to get a nibble out of her guts. It’s not all bad though, she might have monsters trying to eat her, have disturbingly pointy ears and an obnoxiously pink mane of hair, but she seemed to have some talent for magic.Everything is going to be just fine. Right? Expect:- Female, Gay MC- An MC that doesn't miraculously take to fighting goblins to the death like a seasoned murderhobo.- Arcane Magic! UNLIMITED POWAH!(not really)- A mostly benevolent System.- I'm still figuring out the rest, so that's about it for now.- MC starts out as a bit of a doormat. She slowly starts getting better at around ch 12 though. It's called character development, even if my MC is dragging her leg a bit too much at the start. Schedule: Monday 6PM CET and bonus chapters on Friday 6PM CET (if there are any) Artist Credits: Cover Art (Portrait) -Tamás Patkós

    So, I've been sitting on reviewing this for a while, but it definitely deserves some love. Arcane Apocalypse is a blast to read. I've loved pretty much the entire thing from the beginning to now. I love the lore and backstory that is slowly bleeding through to the current plot. I can see where I think some things are headed, especially with Mia's family, and I am impatiently waiting for them to happen. I enjoy all the characters, most of them are more than two-dimensional cutouts, which is always great to read. I love that the MC doesn't start out OP, she genuinely struggles with things, but becomes stronger both magically and emotionally over time. She isn't the same nervous wreck that she started out as. Also, of course, love that there is a sapphic relationship occuring on page between characters. It is always amazing to read rep that resonates with you.
    I have very few complaints. One, I'm worried that we may be juggling too many characters, because some of the characters, like party members don't feel as fleshed out as they should be for how much time they spend with Mia. Two, it does drag a little at times. Three...I need more updates, lol. My concerns are overall minor, as it's an amazing story.

    While this story has only been up on RR for two days (as of Ch. 9), I feel that there is enough here to talk about. Some people will really be happy to find this story, while others will not enjoy it. Personally, I'm absolutely in the first group, but let's get the important bit out in front: Who should read and who should avoid?
    This paragraph will be very vague about the story content because I like the story enough to want to be completely spoiler-free in this review. If you like the idea of characters struggling to adapt to a system apocalypse, you should read. If you imagine that such an event would be mentally shattering and that people would not be able to immediately dive into the grind of numbers-go-up, you should read. If you like a carefully developed but fairly typical system, you should read. If you want to see characters working out how the system effects their community, you should read. On the other hand, you should skip over this story if you just want the pay-off of exponential growth. These characters may well get there some day, but that doesn't seem to be what this is all about. If you want the MC to be the typical cynical loner, you should avoid. She may be an outsider, but she clearly needs, and wants to need, the people around her.
    Finally, the specifics for an advanced review: Arawn Frostguard uses style to successfully convey the mental state of the MC without falling in love with the style. Style is a tool, not a goal. Personally, I think that is a hallmark of good writing. It's difficult to evaluate the story at such an early point, but what I can say is that AF has skillfully worked with the necessary tropes to bring us into the setting quite comfortably. We have the basic survival/progression conflict in place, and there seem to be several characters with their own arcs developing. About the characters, one thing I think that attracts us to this genre is the idea that such a massive break in the world means that we would have the opport

    This is probably by favorite story regarding earth being introduced to a system and a wider multiverse because unlike every other story I have read the government is not treated as incompetent fools. The military is helping people, it doesn't go the way of dystopia with little war lords popping up everywhere. The people of earth help each other in surviving the dangers being introduced to the System has caused.

    This has been such a fun read so far and has gotten me through a long and arduous time in my life. I am very much looking forward to reading this more in the future. All in all a fantastic read highly recommend reading through all the technical babble in it to grasp Mia’s powers.

    It's a pretty basic story compared to, say, Lord of the Mysteries. Well thats a bad example since most books are - but that said while it may not be the most unique, it more than makes up for that with how well it is written, (although I might be giving it a 4.5 at another time -since I am particularly desperate for a good book rn)
    And, I dont get why people complain about the mc. Are they just mad the mc isnt a blank self insert character like so many nowadays? Like seriously what is their problem? Sure she can be timid - but it's nowhere near the level it's unreadable! She's not even really getting stuck in the morality of it all, which is whats usually most annoying, she just has some trouble actually going through with things. Perfectly reasonable trouble! Do I care about the lives of cockroaches, no! Am I completely terrified of them like my mom and little sister, nay! That doesnt mean I can't be a little squeamish when it comes time to step on them and dispose of the squished body, though! (Little is a small understatement tbh) Replace monsters with really big, gross, and deadly cockroaches mentally if you ever find yourself annoyed with the mc, and you might be able to relate better. Honestly I kind of like it - because I seriously doubt every single person thrown into an apocalypse is going to instantly go murderhobo, so this  feels more realistic. Especially since unlike what some people seem to think, social anxiety is actually a thing that exists irl! (Shocking, I know) And I sincerely hope I dont need to explain why some people might have at least a few qualms murdering their fellow humans! Even if this kind of MC isnt for you, don't bash a perfectly fine story just because you have different tastes. It's like going to a romance book and complaining that there is romance!
    (Besides there really is quite a lot of character development, and I'm glad im only about halfway done with the existing chapters. Seriously wish there were more of those, tho!)

    The basic concept of the Story is not too out of the ordinary. We have modern Earth, then the System shows up and gives people magic and various other supernatural powers, including Qi, vampirism, lycanthropy, and more. It also starts spawning Dungeons, Rifts, and monsters.
    One fairly interesting aspect of the setting is that the story takes place in Graz, Austria. While there is nothing so specific that it would be impossible to mentally place the events somewhere else, there are some subtle European cultural influences which are rather rare, with how everything seems to focus on the U.S. This quirk is appreciated, and it's a bit of a selling point on its own.
    The strength of this work is undoubtedly in its Characters, primarily the protagonist. This is a story of personal, psychological growth. As appropriate for the main character of the genre, our lead has significant potential for power, which nevertheless takes a long time to bear fruit; largely because of her own hang-ups, and less because of external limiting factors.
    While the focus is blatantly on the protagonist, side characters are not left behind. In terms of raw word-count, they get relatively little focus; this is about the Hero and her Party, and not an ensemble cast. However, what attention they do get is utilised to maximum effect, and their personalities are incredibly well-drawn. The author displays their ability to be incredibly efficient and clever with establishing three-dimensional people in a short amount of time. None of the core party members feel like filler NPCs, despite the rather limited page time they each get. I have to specifically mention the presence of a (het) side-couple, who get maybe three paragraphs of romance-specific development, yet they are utterly adorable and I'm every bit as invested in them as I am in the main pairing (of cute lesbians).
    The Style includes a lot of introspection, occasionally even in situations where it's not necessarily the most appropriate. Sometime

    This is my first review, please bear with me.
    I love this story, if the rating didn't tip you off. The characters feel like they have a personality, which is unfortunately not as easy to pull off as it seems. The magic system is very original and quite fun to discover. The romance doesn't distract but rather complements the story quite nicely, I believe. The RPG elements, which I often find somewhat unnecessary, don't feel intrusive and are quite nicely explained.
    I am not going to go into more detail, since I am horribly bad at this and others have done more precise reviews already.
    Overall, I believe that it is 100% worth reading !

    Pictures at chapters:
    8 at begining -> Mia, Mark, Jeff, Lara, The Bird and one more of Mia at the end
    14 at end -> Lina
    15 at end -> another take on Mia
    19 at end -> Prince Arwen
    23 at end -> Brent
    34 at end -> Carmilla (I kinda like this one)
    Vampires!
    39 at end -> Wolf Monster/Evergreen Marauder
    40 at end -> Juggernaut
    79 at end -> Troll Rift Guardian, Sparkle ( :3 ), Goblin, Carmilla(bis), Mia(bis)
    84 at end -> Nikki
    Would be nice if they were dropped in one seperate chapter for convinience, but until then, here is some convinience review ( ). I like the idea of providing pictures of characters, the way the auhtor sees them, I think its neat.

    Fun story, clearly lots more to come. Author has continued to keep updating constantly.
    Great world building & great character development. Really enjoying the slow paced story.
    The magic system has some depth, but also balanced between the unreliable narrator and system aided details.
    MC does flick between confident and fearful for no reason.
    Overall, once the MC becomes more emotionally stable, I feel this story will thrive.

    I have actually no idea why I read until knowThe MC is such a wimp that I just rage quitted this fictionIts not a bad story, it's a bit more slice of life than apocalypse, MC actually prefers to goof around and is the strongest by birth anyway, that's not enough, she also gets all the cheats but is so useless, here whole game is like one spell, sounds worse than it is, because fights don't matter anyway, because the plot armor is strong with this oneBut that doesn't matter, because her team forms around her by accident, she is not really the leader but gets to control pretty much everything anyway, and you might have guessed it, her team is imbaSystem is nice a bit like the one with the fist guy, but it is so inconsequential despite explaining in vivid detail how much stronger they feel after each new stat pointWell, this is a weird read, because it is so anticlimacticIt shines by being something new, it's a nice read despite the physical pain I endure by reading it
