Description

Inspired by Solo Leveling and other dungeon stories seen in Korean manhwa.

In a world ruled by Hunters and dungeon portals, Jin Tae-woo is at the bottom. An F-Rank Hunter with the weakest Trainee Class, he struggles to survive and support his sister. When an Abyssal Gate, a portal so terrifying that even S-Rank Hunters fear it, appears in Seoul, Tae-woo is pulled into its depths. Instead of dying, he awakens to a power beyond human limits. As he adapts to this newfound strength, he must decide how far he is willing to go and what he is willing to sacrifice to climb beyond his limits.

The story takes place in Korea, so expect the characters to be Korean.

Enjoying the story so far, seems pretty similar to other stories but I don't really mind. An enjoyable trope and good idea. The writing is skilled and definitely good enough to make the story interesting. I like how the MC gets to see a glimpse of the truth or something like that, but doesn't actually become like instantly overpowered because of it.

    Grammar
The grammar is nicely done. Good job author 👏
    Story Score
The story starts off quite generic with the magical portals, hunters, Korea based manhwa inspiration but boy did that generic get ripped off pretty quickly. It takes a nice spin at the typical solo leveling genre and adds its own magic which differentiate it from solo leveling and other action manhwas pretty quickly. This is the perfect example of inspired and not blatantly copying Solo leveling. Also the MC chomps things alot and I can't say it doesn't excite me to see how he will use his abilities.
    Character Score
The characters are interesting, the MC is the most interesting which is quite obvious. His childhood friend and his sister are the only few that really stuck out to me and my favorite (Alice 🙂‍↕️)
    Style Score
The story gives you the imagination of a typical story but it is definitely a new twist. The plot of the story adds mystery and I can't stop theorizing about the Abyssal gates. There's a sense of how did this happen? Why did this happen? Why the MC of all people? Which is good on my book. I like a story that challenges my mind.
Overall, the author still hasn't answered me on why the next button isn't working? I need more! Keep up the good work btw! 💪

    Not  gonna lie.
The first chapter felt like a reply of solo leveling, thought it was just another ditto of the legend.
But as the story progressed it was good. Although i would not say unique,it does stand out.
You could add more humor sense to the other charecters tho..(just my opinion)
    Good job buddy!

I have to say that I’ve never read anything like it before. The chapters are so dense with information that I found it hard to go through. And make a fair assessment of the writing quality. But after scanning my thoughts, I believe I know what to say.
Right off the bat, the story is good, and I would recommend it to most people. But for me, I only started getting invested at about 1.3. That was the section where we began exploring the consequences of the protagonist entering the gate.
Furthermore, this goes into how well you established the characters and the horror of the abyssal gate. I like how you set up the guy’s friend, sister, and possible lover as a support network. And the idea that he’s a bit of a loser. It all works well together to foster the audience's sympathy and fear when he falls into the gate. As you hope nothing bad happens to him for their sake.
Additionally, I would say that the mystery of what happened to him after leaving the gate was highly gripping. When I learned that it was him who attacked the girl, I didn’t know what to think. Again, this goes into how well you set up the terror of the gates. The most skilled hunters were terrified of them, with only ten returning with their sanity damaged. It immediately made me want to keep reading for answers.
On the other hand, it’s here where I have to give my first bit of criticism. I feel like you hit the reader with too much information too fast. It would have been better to introduce the different guilds one at a time as they became relevant instead of that information dump TV broadcast.
But overall, I highly enjoyed it! Please keep up the good work.

Abyss Walker is a dungeon-delving story inspired by Korean web novels like Solo Leveling, following a low-rank hunter striving to protect his family and rise through the ranks. With its digestible chapters, likable protagonist, and effective world-building, this story offers a fresh take on a familiar genre.
Engaging Protagonist: The protagonist is relatable and driven, with clear motivations that anchor the narrative.
Effective World-Building: The newscaster interview in the second chapter provides necessary context without feeling forced.
Digestible Chapters:  It feels like something happens each chapter, and they go by quicker than you'd think.
I recommend Abyss Walker to fans of dungeon-delving stories and Korean web novels. If you enjoy narratives with a likable protagonist, engaging world-building, and a familiar yet fresh take on the genre, this is a story worth checking out. This story is still in its early stages, which means it's a great time to give it a try.
