Woodland Shadows

'Woodland Shadows' is a stream-of-consciousness short story exploring the premise of if, when you die, you become a ghost in an alternate limbo reality, wherein you are trapped in the emotional state of which you were in as you died. We follow a first-person narrator as he navigates this eerie, incomprehensible, dreamlike netherworld, seeking to discover what is happening to him, what had happened to him, unaware of his own fate, whilst forces beyond his comprehension guide him.The story explores themes of loneliness, isolation, melancholy, the uncanny, and briefly touches on suicide, though not in great depth. It reads like a highly psychological, intimate diary.I wrote it initially both as the narrative incarnation of a poem I had written (and include here), as well as the alternative to a script for  short film I worked on by myself, but never completed.
