Description

Kat was a freshly graduated healer from the academy, ready to begin her life as an adventurer with her three best friends. Together, the four of them entered the portal to their new city, ready to delve the beginner dungeons and gain fame and fortune.

Only three exited.

Forty years later, Kat emerged from an experimental portal to the nether-realm. But while she looked identical to the Kat of decades before, she wasn't the same. Although who could blame her? Anyone who spent that long isolated in the nether-realm would come back different.

They'd come back a little...weird.

Writeathon participant. With that in mind, I'm not planning on doing much editing until the writeathon is done, so it may be a little rough.

I have found this a very enjoyable story - still in intro arc I suspect.
MC has been through a lot, and is perhaps a bit "wacko" but in a really nice way.
Othe characters are believable and fairly well developed.
The story reads and flows really well, no grammar problems.
Twenty chapters in it we are perhaps beginning to see how the story will progress, for those of you who are focusse on RPG-levelling-quests stuff there are dungeons/ skills/ stats and parties. There is also a lot of slice of life stuff in the slow burn intro - with an entertainingly oddball heroine.
I think most readers will really enjoy this one. Perhaps a few hardcore xianxia-only or RPG-power up "young monster" fans will find it a bit slow - it is not highly focussed on the "gamer" aspects. Frankly I think that adds to its strength as a story.

This is the first story I ever read on Royal Road. I binge read it over 2 days or so. It is that good. I am giving it 5 stars because the story keep me reading until the last published chapter.
The MC has severe PTSD and has a warped view of reality after spending 40 years in a world worthy of Alice in Wonderland. Because of this the reader is left wondering what is going on because their MC doesn't know either. The story has just reached chapter 36, where the MC has just returned to 'Wonderland' ('Hell' would be a better description) and it looks like we are about to see her kick ass as this is the world she learned to survive in.

So, it just begun but Kat is really endearing, I think she can be a great protagonist. The main intrigue is interesting enough to catch the attention of the reader and there's seems to be much more on the horizon. Overall there is elements of a great story, now it just need to live up to its potential!
There is some spelling error, but nothing that can't be overlooked. And since it's writeathon time, I don't expect perfection only content and so it's not a consideration at this time, when the writeathon is finish now would be the time to be more critical on that front.

I like the writing style, I like the thought processes of the main character which are described and I love hearing more and more about the world and the drama unfolding among the guildmates of our dear MC. Overall, the story is well put together and a good take on the usual "dungeon with videogame aspects" genre.
    Go Kat!

I absolutely loved this story and am sad to hear that it's over. I thought all of the characters were fun and lovable and would love to see their story continue to wherever they end up. Definitely one of the better stories I've read on RR and I shall definitely be waiting for any further updates wherever they may be!
Thank you for the enjoyable read author! :)

Please keep it up! I enjoy the story so far (I'm at chapter 30), and I'm really curious about what is going to be so weird about Kat's magic. The story did not go in the direction I expected, and so far it gives off similar vibes to Cinnamon Bun by RavensDagger.

This an light-hearted comedy and slice of life with fantasy topping. The writing style is smooth and few holes can be shrugged on.
Unfortunately, being on top of Rising Stars brought a lot of people who expected this to be a masterpiece or yet another Patreon fishing story that tries to appeal to everyone. Author is clearly doing whatever he likes and its entertaining, hence the popularity.

Lots of creative and interesting ways this non standard adventure in a standard adventuring world could go. I am eager to see how it plays out.
The MC is believably off kilter, naive and possibly over powered in an underpowered sort of way
Then there is the mystery of snuffers.
I selfishly won't give this five ⭐ because it's not finished! (It's getting the last half star when the author posts the end of the first arc)

It's still early for a review, but this is an excellent, readable litRPG with a focus (so far, at least!) on character-driven interaction. There are multiple distinct people other than the main character that we have at least something of a sketch of, and the possible start to some new friendships.
Kat is a great viewpoint character. She's completely believable; if anything, the strangest thing is how sane she is after her time alone. She knows it's been a while, but not how long - and she's trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces of her life at the same time as the people around her are trying to figure out what to do with her.
I'm not sure if I expect her stuffed cat to act on his own. I wouldn't be surprised; Snuffers is a character in his own right, even though we only see him through Kat's actions and thoughts.

To not bury the lede, Weird Magic is fantastic. It's fun, well-written, and doesn't fall into the pitfall so many other stories on RoyalRoad do of getting stuck in the mire of a never ending story that loses all sense of pacing. Love it! Read it before it gets poofed to the dreaded Kindle Unlimited beyond (or read it there if you've got it).
Style: The writing is smooth, and about as close to traditional as any litrpg can be. Almost no walls of stat blocks, and the only remotely intrusive reminder of it not being traditional fantasy are [named skills] referred to in brackets and occasional references to the effects of stats, but there's no number crunch to it, really.
Story: The story is sweet and to the point. It has a clear beginning, middle, and end, which doesn't sound like high praise but in a world of serials that drag on for thousands of pages without ever closing a plot arc, getting on with it is praiseworthy. The only flaw is the villain of the story felt like he needed more development, a casualty of the pacing.
Grammar: Minimal typos, no weirdly obtuse sentence structures that don't actually make sense, thumbs up.
Characters: The cast all have distinct personalities, motivations, flaws. No Mary Sues/Gary Stus with abrasive, sarcastic personalities that still somehow are beloved by the world. There's a little shortage of depth for the tertiary cast but the characters who need development get it.
Overall: The story is a brisk, light-hearted romp that really scratches the fun fantasy itch and doesn't overstay its welcome or get bogged down in the details. Hearty recommendation!
