Description

When one door closes, another one opens. And when one universe ends, another begins. Rory has found himself in a rather strange predicament: the end of not just the world, but the entire universe has come and gone. An intergalactic war was waged, and in the end, try as they might, the good guys lost when the bad guys pressed the big reddo not press button. Except, instead of being the end of the story, Rory, a nobody in the grand scheme of things, finds himself almost completely alone in a fresh universe, one of eight precursors chosen almost entirely at random. Almost completely alone, Rory must survive, if only because there isn't much to dobutsurvive. His only sometimes company is an odd World Spirit that seems insistent on his continued survival and growth, a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship that feels at least a little bit like a pyramid scheme. Not only must he do his best to survive, but he must also chart the course and build an entire universe from scratch, becoming the architect of something new. This isn't the story of an up-and-coming, plucky main character daring to challenge the gods of old and shake up the foundations of everything once known. No, this is the story OF one of the gods of old, following their rise from a nobody in a brand new universe, to the pinnacle of existence, a name known, sometimes loved, sometimes feared, but always respected, throughout all of existence. Universe's End is a LitRPG that follows not that upcoming plucky hero as they strive to surpass the ancient forerunners or current legendary figures but instead follows the storyofone of those very precursors as they build the foundations of the LitRPGs we are all familiar with, while also answering the question ofwhythe world follows an almost video game-like logic. What you'll get -Weak to strong progression over an extended time frame -Exploring the story of the veryfirstfew to experience a System-based life. -Little to no edge. MC is not a revenge-thirsting, all-black-wearing, trench coat having bad boy. -Heavy crafting focus -No number bloat. You won't see any stat sheets with tens of thousands of stat points with amplifiers that mean nothing -Little to no hax. -Adult MC. -No system-breaking. This is not a story where the main character finds a loophole to abuse; if it appears like a loophole has been introduced, it's typically to explain how it gets quashed. -This is a story where sometimes things happen outside of the main character's control. These are usually used to establish a new mechanic.

TL;DR An interesting twist on the system LitRPG trope. I loved it. The crafting is good, the fights are too.
I love the fact that we know that the MC will be fine far into the future, and that the story owns it.
In general, with this type of novel you can be sure, even before reading, that the MC will never die (or at least not permanently) and that they will eventually become big shots of the greater universe.
Here it's explicitly shown as such.
But it doesn't mean it becomes boring! Not at all!
It just means that now we can focus on how he got there.
I also find the fact that important characters, and even the MC can lose.
The Banes Event is seriously peak writing.
    And that some even die.
The novel has the right balance of combat and crafting, the crafting never gets too boring, and the fighting never gets too repetitive.
The pacing is also very well done, with many time skips and more chapters being dedicated to comparatively more important moments like Ascensions.
Of course my favorite mechanic in the Significance part of Ascension Energy. It's such a good way to enable growth of your character while not making it all about killing monsters.

I rarely write reviews on this site, because it's hard for me to express how I feel about a book, and 200 characters can seem intimidating, but I feel like this series is worth me putting in the extra effort.
It's hard for me to articulate what I like most of this series. If someone were to ask I'd probably just answer "everything" but that doesn't make for a constructive review.
One of the most bingeable series on RR, this is one of the most unique stories on this site. It follows the MC as he shapes the early days of a litrpg/xianxia system. We see the founding of the core "Jobs" like alchemy, enchanting as well as the slow and steady definition of what magic really is.
This is also one of the few litrpg stories where the MCs achievements feel earned, since what often happens is these MCs just bumble into a legendary spear skill and start one shitting enemies on different tiers from themselves. Not the case here.
One big thing that would improve the story IMO is a status screen in the authors notes every now or then. There are a handful of spelling mistakes now and then, but from the comments in the earlier chapters it looks like the author does go and fix them if you post edit suggestions.
I liked the story, read it.

Haven't read a novel like this before, love the concept, also pretty good writing. A little too detailed in the explanations sometimes, but nothing worth loosing half a star over. I have only read 18 chapters, but I'll probably wait a while for them to stack up and catch back up with them.

Super interesting story with a unique twist in the Standard litrpg style here on Royal Road. Nice pacing that seems more relatable than the " I am a genius and need 4 days to reach a level others need 14578 years to reach."
I just finished the first book so I can't say anything for later but for now it is very refreshing and interesting!
    Can recommend šŸ¤

I'm terrible at writing reviews, but I have been absolutely loving this book. Even when an entire chapter is purely dedicated to talking about crafting, the author still manages to keep it interesting with sprinkled in dialogue. I also love the character interactions in this book, even if for a majority of what is currently written there aren't many characters.

Originally I was going to wait for the second volume to finish to drop a review, but I decided to do it now. There os both a lot and a little to say about Universe's End. It's a LitRPG that tries to do its own thing, playing with game mechanics where it feels fitting, and discarding them where it feels like baggage. The characters are fun, if a bit sparse and only really starting to appear it greater numbers in recent chapters.Power progression is steady and slow. Nearing two volumes in and the MC and others are only what I'd call a little over superhuman or superhero level, with a huge promise of lots of further grow to be possible. The story itself is lacking, but not in a bad way. There is not overarching plot line or villain to beat, the story is the MC being one of the very first ever to set foot in the setting of a LitRPG, at least for the universe of Universe's End.Grammar- is strong throughout, defintely improves later on but at no point would I say its ever below a 4.5 territory.Style- The author clearly has a specific writing style they like, with lots of their own personal flair, you can get a vibe of the author from the way they write. If you're someone who likes the author to remove traces of themselves and their personalities from their writing, Universe's End isn't for you.-Character. Already touched on that, but the characters themselves are fun and mostly realistic. On a scale of 1-5, with 1 being anime level overreactions and 5 being literal real like, they behave somewhere along a 4.5 range, some slight exagerrations but only what you'd need for characters who find themselves in life or death situations to be expected.-Story- Also touched upon, but the story of Universe's End is a story of building a setting and a history, following how the original bad asses of this "world" got to be the bassasses they are. So far each volume seems to focus on different aspects, with the first volume being the very first few years, and the second volume focusing on

It's very well written, I like the way the author explores the theme of being one of the originals in a new world of cultuvation-esque strength, yet it also does this in interesting ways. I always look forward to these chapters whenever I see them in my follow list and I am really enjoying the story. I like it's pacing as well, as it is meant to convey a long period of time and it does this without seeming slow paced (which is extra impressive considering I'm not even reading this in one chunk).

This is, without a doubt, the best LitRPG I’ve ever read in my life. Every chapter pulls me in so deeply that I genuinely feel the world you created. Your storytelling, pacing, creativity, and the emotions you deliver are on another level. I’m completely addicted to this story.
It would honestly break my heart if you weren’t planning at least 3,000 chapters, because your world deserves to go on for a very long time. Please don’t ever give up on this masterpiece.
And if it’s possible to increase the release rate to at least three chapters a day… I would be incredibly grateful 😘

This has to be my favorite story I've found on this site, and if it isn't then its at least top 3. The flow of this story has been really good and I enjoy all the little details that help flesh out the story. Even chapters dedicated to crafting are a nice read because of how it comes together. I love the whole premise of the story being how a system based universe came into being and I also enjoy the MC's (Rory's) personality and approach towards things. I also enjoy Rory making use of multiple branches of crafting/professions and how he makes them synergize/harmonize to achieve more than what he could have otherwise. One thing to address is the slow power progression, but I personally enjoy it as it gives a lot more time to flesh out the world and the character's power, on top of that the progression speed feels more realistic than everything happening in the span of a year. The final thing I have to add on is I love the informal Sunday updates on Patreon as they give so much to the world building, but it is by no means necessary.
Thank you for such a great read!

I've been reading this story for a few months and I just could not get enough so I had to subscribe to the Patreon. It is well paced in my opinion and the story just keeps better as the Author gain in confidence in his writing. The updates are also very consistent and the chapters quite long.
It's an interesting take and very original on a genre that as been perhaps overly used.
I guarentee that you will love it !
